  1. One of the things that bothered me most about this is how police were able to sweep house by house and search wherever they wanted without a warrant. I know the reasoning behind it but the precedent that it sets is what really worries me.
  2. I just read that they think there are at east 50-60 dead and expect it to keep climbing
  3. Rain tires are great but if you run them without the track being wet or wet enough, you will tear them up. That aside, the traction rain tires provide is pretty amazing
  4. What does CHL and a duty to inform have anything to do with him open carrying?
  5. New York Post is saying 12 deaths and 50 injured http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/two_explosions_at_boston_marathon_iMR0LCkcwASg0RQfVsH1yI
  6. I don't know how many of you are into Daft Punk but I am pretty damn excited about the new album coming out on May 21st. A video teaser was just released at Coachella. I have been waiting to hear more since they first launched the new album site about a month ago http://randomaccessmemories.com/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=na6KAlPkxdg
  7. No, I let it sit in the trailer for a couple months before I even pulled it out. I started to tear it down and didn't feel like messing with it. I cleaned the garage up and got it setup in the center and ready to finish tearing down. I am hoping that it is just the valves and not the bottom end.
  8. I talked to my fiance last night and she is not necessarily over joyed by the idea of moving but she isn't against is either. I have been planning on selling my house in the next couple years anyways to look for something else but at the same time that wasn't set in stone. The area up there is pretty nice and I think I would like it but we would be even further from family which isn't as big of a deal for me as it is her. We already live about an hour away from family now so it isn't like we see them that much the way it is. As far as the job goes, I am not sure at this point but it may be only choice unless I want to switch companies. I am a project engineer for pretty specialized equipment that I am very knowledgable about compared to some of the people in the rest of the company. The engineering and manufacturing for all North American sales came over here about 3 1/2 years ago and I have been on board since pretty much the beginning. They have now decided to move the engineering to our head quarters and that is why this has come up. I am not sure if there would be a promotion or not at this point but it sounded like it may very well be a possibility. I would definitely expect some sort or raise since the cost of living is a bit more up there. I know that I am a valuable asset to the company and was even told so when this was brought up yesterday. I would really like to stay on board since I have been part of the development of this machine since the first one and have put a lot of effort to get them to where they are now. I also think that I would easily be able to find another company in the Detroit area fairly easy that also deals with similar machines and processes. If I stick around here, I don't know if I will be able to find something else and maintain my salary that I currently have. I don't neccesarily want to move but at the same time it seems like it could be a really good career move. I have already had to start over in a different industry once and am not entirely sure that I would like to do it again but I know that I would be able to. I think a lot of it will really come down to what the company is really willing to offer me.
  9. So who here has relocated for a company before? What are things that should definitely be considered? I have been asked to relocate to our US headquarters in MI and am just starting to think about everything. I was told that there would be some type of package involved but nothing more than that at this point. It was more or less brought up as seeing if I was even open to the idea. I own a house that I would have to sell and my fiance would have to find a new job if we moved. I am just trying to do a lot of thinking and see if I really want to do this or not. Any input is always appreciated.
  10. I would suggest using some type of tether. I had mine come off on the front stretch at Nelson. Fishing leaders like these http://amzn.com/B000ALJBEK work pretty well if you cut the one metal end off and then run the hinge rod through the loop.
  11. As much as they say things are improving, we just lost half of our engineering department on Tuesday plus twelve shop guys and then some additional people in our Michigan facility.
  12. I grew up in Lima and moved up 75 north of Findlay. I graduated from Elida and my fiance went to Allen East
  13. Just get her a busa, that's the only possible way that she will learn to ride
  14. Kewpee has three in Lima and then there is one up in Battlecreek Michigan. I grew up on Kewpee and get it almost every time that we head back to Lima. Findlay has Wilsons downtown which is similar to Kewpee and also pretty good. I get Pollyeyes about every other week for lunch and sometimes more. It seems like everyone always wants to order from there when we have meetings. They have pretty good calzones too.
  15. Check the wheel bearings too. It is much easier to see if there is any play if you have a way to jack the axle up and bring the wheel off the ground.
  16. Ha wow wtf man. Set up some camers in your house
  17. I really must have lost my sense of humor....
  18. I say I have a good job but I enjoy what I do and get a great sense of accomplishment when I see one of my projects on the shop floor running or better yet, in a big automotive plant. I also am lucky enough to be making triple my age and having the possibility of making upwards of 120k in my position if I stick around long enough. I have a very stressful job but it is also very rewarding at the same time.

  20. I am about to turn 24 and appear to be an anomaly among other people in my age group. I did a engineering tech vocational program for jr & sr year of highschool and also attended college full time my senior year. A few months after hs graduation, I was lucky enough to get a mechanical detailing position and was able to prove myself through a lot of hard work and drive. I worked at that place for almost two years before they shut down and was able to get a job as the lone person in engineering for a mid size machining company but had a 3 hr total commute each day. After 6 months, I left there for a job offer that I received at a fairly decent sized company as mechanical designer. I did that for a year and worked my ass off, soaked up every bit of knowledge that I could, took initiative, made decisions, and ended up getting promoted to a project engineer 2 years ago. Since then I have done very very well for myself and have become one of the go to guys. I strive every day to improve our product, find cheaper ways to do things, simpler ways to build what we do. A lot of the guys that work for me have their bachelors and suck at even the basic things that you would think someone with an engineering degree would be able to do. These guys are afraid to make a decision not matter how big or small it may be. We have guys that seem to think that they can come in, do lazy sloppy work, go home at the end of 8 hours and be completely fine with it. It baffles me how people don't have any pride in the work that they do any more. It seems to me that people go to school now days and expect everything to be handed to them just because they went to school and got a degree like they were always told they had to. Having a degree isn't jack shit without some type of drive and motivation.
