Thanks, Redkow. I'll consider it when (if) we end up getting another one. I have to go finish burying this one now. The perfect evening to the perfect day.

Yeah, the "V" has nothing to do with engine config. It means "versatile", lol.

It's hard explaining to your 6 and 7 year old kids why you have to take the dog and put them down. Had to do that last night. I don't think we will get another one for a while because of all the training that we don't have time to do. Our Aussie was a spectacularly well-behaved dog. She never went in the house unless she was sick. I don't think we will be that lucky again. She was a couple years old when we got her.

I know the tune is a lot, but if the bike is generally good for you other than the low speed issues, it will be worth it. If it's still using a factory map with a slip-on, that could be some of your problem. I understand what you're saying. It's not fun riding a bike that responds like that.

Sorry I missed this one. I was in the Outer Banks, and didn't get the text message on my phone until I charged it on the way home. I hope to catch the next one.

Thanks, man. Sorry to hear about your 2. Mine had a big tumor on her side, and she wasn't even able to stand up for long enough to get outside to piss.

It won't with ME on it, but I don't doubt it's capable. These bikes can be set up so many different ways which is one of the appealing things about them. I've got SV stage II cams and an Akropovic system on mine, so it's used more for sport touring than anything.

Thanks. I just got back from vacation- couldn't call off or I would have. I took half a day to take care of the dog.

DL650 all the way. Not that I'm biased or anything. Fun to ride. Fun to mod. Does most everything well. Scrape pegs with your sportbike buddies. Ride fire roads. Tour. It will do it all.

Well, if it's not getting it for you in horsepower, you definitely need an I-4. If it's a smoothness issue, you might be shocked what the right dyno guy can do for you. Unfortunately, owning a liter Suzuki V-twin usually means correcting things the factory did wrong. Ask any V-strom owner about that mess. Once they're sorted, they are excellent motors, but it takes some effort. I'm not sure what they have available as far as cams, but camming it up a little might get it closer to what you're looking for- more top end and less bottom, so smoother with a stronger hit.

Thanks... doing ok. It just sucks, you know? It's like having to put one of your kids down in some ways. I rode the bike to work, and I'll definitely self-medicate a little when I get home (after I get done burying the dog).

Had to put my 15 year old Australian Shepherd down this morning. Boss seems to be in a bad mood. It's definitely one of "those" days. Just whining a little.

That's the nature of Suzuki liter sized twins. They do a very poor job mapping them in general, and the low range always sucks. Also, is it piped? Relieving some back pressure tends to make engine braking less severe. I noticed a big difference on my 650 twin when I piped it, and more so with the baffle out. I'll bet that getting it to somebody who knows how to tune would improve it quite a bit, but it's never going to be inline 4 smooth, because they make more torque down low, so really it is "on and off" from open to closed throttle. You really should try a Triumph 1050cc triple. They don't have the top end of an inline 4, but they are insanely smooth all the way down to idle and the torque is everywhere- looks like a nearly flat line on the dyno graph.

Sprint isn't all that sporty. high bars, long, and not quite light enough. However, check this out: six monkeys Speed Triple Daytona conversion! I drool over this often.

I came up on that stretch a couple weeks ago, and yes it was bad. I got really sideways and almost ended up in far ditch when the rear tire slid out hard. I turned around and rode 78 instead. Stay AWAY for sure!

I3's might just be the perfect combination. The question is, when will Triumph make a liter or bigger Daytona again?

That's the 3rd I've heard of being T-boned lately. Watch out, everyone (not that there is that option when you can't possibly see it coming).

I haven't found a PA road worth riding yet. I must be missing one somewhere. Any nice stretch of curves is either cluttered with traffic, or has a 35 mph speed limit, or bad pavement. I rode Ohio 555 last weekend and was moving pretty good right below 78, and ran into fresh chip and seal. I almost slid into the ditch on the other side of the road trying to stop. I can't understand why they would pave a road with that crap.

Finally something to post here. I got this in my fortune cookie at lunch today. I think I'll have to pass on those type of experiences.

VFR is one of a handful of Hondas I wouldn't mind owning. I'm a fan of the V4.

I could just suck, really. lol. no, I do ok, and most the time I don't get in too deep- I feel ok. It's more like feeling a little out of sorts than feeling actually like I'm going to crash. Something is just not quite right. I think it's going to take somebody who knows what they're talking about following behind me to give me some pointers. I guess that rules out anybody on here, lol. j/k I do ok, but I want to get to the next level and I know you guys are right about being smooth. Smooth is fast. It's something I repeat to myself while I ride. But lefts aren't as smooth as they should be, and I just don't know what is going on, if it's in my head, or I'm doing something odd... not really sure at this point.
