  1. I started to read to the summary of the bill, but it does not seem to affect me directly.

I work for a welding company Lincoln Electric. A majority of the jobs there are piece work on the assembly floor. You get paid by what you produce. So, if I bust ass during my shift, it is possible that I can make more then the guy next to me. Make more product = more income for me.

I have worked on the shop assembly floor, moved up to the IT department and now I repair automation welding robots for our customers. (hourly job).

The entire company is part of the year profit sharing = bonus. The company will figure out what the profit pool will be. Each employee is rated for that year to determine their actual percentage of the bonus will be.

One way to increase bonus is to reduce costs of production. So, if the company determines the profit to be 20%, there is a method to determine what percent of that 20% I will earn. If I meet all production goals, had good quality, was a team player, turned in some cost saving suggestions, I may "earn" 110% of that 20%= 22%. The squidly guy next to me might only earn 85% of the 20% = 16.5%.

So, I can earn what I can earn. My performance is rewarded weekly in my pay check and year end in bonus.

This is a super high level how it works summary. There has been a few case studies of the Lincoln Electric culture. No unions, no layoffs, and an active part of a yearly profit sharing.

When the economy went down in 2009, EVERYONE in the company took a paycut. Hourly and salary. While it sucked, it was nice to know we were all in the same boat.

This is a wierd company to work for, but once you understand the culture, it only makes sense on how a company should be run. I have been here for 16 years.

  2. At that range with Speedy, on the first row of tires, set up spent shotgun shells. Just the right distance to add some skill and fun.

Also, bring a plastic grocery store bag with you to pick up a boat load of spent brass just laying around.

FROZEN water bottles work well too.

Normally though, I just shoot at milk jugs and orange juice containers.

  3. let's give everyone the power to create their own currency and regulate the value/supply. I'm sure there's nothing that can possibly go wrong with that.

Ok, I'll go first. My currency is carpet fiber. Each fiber is equal to one thousand dollars. So, I will take about 20 fibers to the BMW dealer and get a 1000RR and some gear......

  4. I moved the car this morning and turned on the headlights. Not sure why i did this, but with the headlights on, i lifted up slightly on the heaglight knob, and the dash light illiminated. so that tells me there is an issue with the switch itself.

I'll price out on of those this morning. If I call the dealer and auto part stores and they have like 50 in stock, that tells me this is a commonly replaced part.

  5. Thanks for all the replies. Once I get the wiring diagram, i will focus on the headlight switch. Making sure to check voltage from the switch to the cluster. That answer will determine my plan of attack.

Probably too, just for a baseline, i should check the charging system just to make sure i do not have an over charge condition and other electrical or bulbs might fail.

  6. I got out of the car repair field about 1994 prior to more control modules in vehicles. My last vehicle i worked on with a headlight issue was my 1984 Chevy plow truck, that was a super basic circuit. I did see a few mentions on the internet about failed headlight switches. I would like to confirm the headlight switch before just throwing money/parts at it. Once I get the wiring diagram, i should be able to tell what output from the switch controls the brightness of the dash/radio lights.
