Gotta love exaggerated titles From the article "Garret Gray allegedly nearly shot a driver" "During the altercation, police said that Gray allegedly pulled a gun." At no point does it say that a gun was fired. I think thats what we call brandishing. Hard to say at this point if it was warranted. Sounds like both parties were stopped and out of their vehicles. Gray may have felt he was at risk of injury. Probably not and it was just a case of an idiot showing off but we don't know. Still the discussion should have never gotten any where near this point. And I like how they compared it to skating for Team USA in the Olympics. Competing in the Olympics is about your country which Thomas seems to be very proud of not about the current government which he has an issue with. Collection of toy tractors and farm equipment 1/16 and 1/64 (grew up on small farm and grandfather had a large dairy farm) 5. Wooden blocks of various shapes that my dad made for me. Doesn't have to be S&W just was something I was considering. Airweight is a revolver, right? I have fired a .38 Bodyguard but it felt very awkward. I havn't fired one yet but the PF9 I held seemed much more natural. One reason I was leaning toward a semi-auto. Plus the semi-autos seemed to be thinner overall. I probably should not rule out a whole class of guns based on a few minutes handling 1 Craig

Big framed guy. 6'2" 220# But I am a little concerned about the comfort of carrying. Even things like fat wallets or cell phones but me in my pockets. And being tall I have a problem finding shirts long enough to keep my waist consistently covered. So my thought after looking at some pictures and reading some is an IWB holster and eventually get a small gun like the LC9 or LCP. But I figure I will have to experiment some to find what works. For now I am thinking getting something that works better for practice. I'm liking the suggestions for S&W either Sigma or M&P. Not that it should matter but I prefer the American made gun from and American company. Ive heard alot of good things about Glock but they are more expensive and imported which affects my decision. But I guess I won't know until I get a chance to try them out. Thanks again for all the help Craig

Thanks for the offer. I would love to take you up on it. The friends I know with guns are fairly inexperienced also so I don't feel 2 comfortable learning from them. Next weekend is the class but perhaps the following Sun (2/5). Its great so many people are willing to offer there time use of their gear to someone they havn't even met. I was hung up on taking my own gun to the class but I think I am best off using the gun they provide and spending a little time afterward figuring out what works best for me. Thats how I got into motorcycle not sure why I thought it should be different for guns. Craig

Won't it be a problem that I have next to no experience with handguns? Maybe my best plan is to use the gun they can provide for the class. Learn some basics. Then go rent. I do like the idea of trying some out before committing. Craig

Was thinking about this. Seems to be more budget friendly than most and reviews say its reliable. Lots of complaints about the trigger and some that say lower quality, but I couldn't see where that translated into less reliability or durability. I'll have to go see how they feel in person. Craig

I think thats the problem. I'd like a gun I could carry and shoot a few hundred rounds through for range trips. I think I may need 2 different guns. But if I go that route it will be a while until I can afford the second gun. Craig

I am taking the CCW class in a couple weeks. I have no experience with semi-auto pistols and very little experience with revolvers, but did grow up using shot guns and .22 to hunt. I was thinking about getting a 9mm to use when I take the class and to practice with afterwards. I definitely want something for home defense and will probably want to carry once I am more comfortable with handling the weapon. Price definitely does matter. One of the reasons for considering the 9mm as I understand that ammo to be generally more available and often cheaper than other defense rounds. So should I get a carry piece like LC9? or would I be better starting with a larger piece like an S&W MP or Glock? Or should I just keep it simple with a .38 revolver? Is there a good budget weapon I can start with to learn fundementals? I am definitely no marksman and a complete newbie so things like a "smooth trigger" or "good balance" probably wont mean anything to me. Any ideas? Thanks Craig

Our Equinox AWD will get mid 20s mpg outside the city. However Ive never gotten close to 29+mpg. The FWD model may though. I my opinion the Terrain is about the ugliest car currently sold. The Equinox looks much better. We definitely like the Equinox but have not towed with it. The Subaru is a nice vehicle but seems smaller inside than the Equinox. Between the 2 you suggested I'd go Outback. However if it was the Equinox instead of the Terrain I go Chevy. Craig

1. Why buy an HD? 2. Last time I looked at HD's lineup I didn't see a bike that looked like this. 3. Water cooled and shaft drive. 4. Lots of drool bikes I can think of like KTM Adventure or Diavel. But not really anything I would want to replace my current ride with. As an addition to the stable a small dual sport would be nice. WR250R is probably my first choice but a KTM 690 enduro would be nice too Craig

These are not that hard to defeat with physical force. A BG is not going to try all 999 values. He either prys it open, or cuts the cable and prys it open later. Or decides its not worth the effort and moves on before someone notices. The lock mechanism won't matter. When you use one you are hoping the prep is some dumbass that busted the window of your car with a brick to steal you radio and CD collection, and he doesn't have the tools or time to break the safe. Probably a good bet 9/10 times. I figure a better use is the combo one in a bedroom so you have easy access to the weapon but children, dumb friends, or upset ex's can easy access them. Craig

Super tanker shipping costs are so low on a per gallon basis that you would barely be able to find the difference. What you also missed was that it is a "difference of" 430,000 barrels of gas a day? Some companies are importing gas from external suppliers while others are exporting to external customers. Some are probably doing both as they can deliver fuel more cheaply to one part of the country from an external refinery and sell externally for a higher price from a refinery in a different part of the country. Like I said it is much more complicated than a simple look at US import and exports per month.

We are importing OIL to supply the refining industry. The domestic refining industry can currently produce more gas than is needed domestically so the excess is sold to other markets. The current price of gas is mostly due to the current value of that commodity on the international market. Which means that they will not sell it for less in the US than someone in Mexico is willing to pay for the same product. Keeping the refineries running a full capacity is good for the economy as it keeps those workers employed in addition importing oil to make gas to export actually reduces import/export deficit if the gas is a higher value than the oil (it should be or they wouldn't be making it.) The gulf disasters that affected the gas and diesel prices a few years ago are because a significant % of the refining capability was affected at a time when we were using a larger volume of fuel. The economy tanking helps to reduce fuel demands. Because much of the fuel usage is inelastic in the short term the prices can go up quickly as supplies decrease because someone is willing to pay more if you won't. The market is much bigger and more complicated than a few headlines can summarize. Craig

I guess I have to get Denver, CO in some cheap compact with 2 guys from work and my wife after killing my Mom with a Desert Eagle .50 3 pasty engineers and girl who thinks Red Roof Inn is roughing it trying to get half way across the country in tiny beat up car does not spell well for success.
