  1. No steak for me this week...schedule's full of crap that needs to be done. That and possible Iron Butt run. Catch ya on the next one. Moose meat = energy!
  2. As I chime in eight pages into the conversation. Very curious about how you pulled off the 50CC. I've done an unofficial SaddleSore 1000 and will be doing an official one soon to "get it on paper." I've done most of my miles on my FJR1300 but have had some state romping on my '05 Suzuki SV650. You'd have a fun conversation with my Matt, aka Flying Brick. He has a 2001 BMW K1200RS in Marrakesh Red.
  3. So I did miss lots of drama last night. Oh boy.
  4. I was the typical Asian in Los Angeles...parents dragged me to Vegas more than two dozen times before I was 16. Practically lived there for most of my summers. :plus1:for In-n-Out. Gotta have the Animal Fries, and don't forget to walk next door and pick up some In-n-Out swag at the company store. Walk up and down the Strip and you're bound to find something awesome. It's about 2.5 miles to walk the whole thing and you can always duck into a casino half the time to cool off. Also, there's a monorail that goes from MGM to Bally's to cut off the first mile or so. You can get a day pass so you can hop on whenever you want (I remember the days when it was free). For motorcycle related-stuff, Vegas is home to H-D Vegas (one of the largest dealership) and Pat Clark Motorsports where you can sit on an MV Augusta or a Bimota for kicks. For other tourist stuff, there's the Liberace museum and Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum at Venetian. The Vegas Mall next to Treasure Island has been severely remodeled so there's lots of outdoor stuff. Downtown Vegas still uses coin-operated slots so if you're going old-school and carrying around those coin cups. Fremont Street is always a visual sight. For buffets, I like MGM's and the one inside Planet Hollywood. Another favorite is Dick's Last Resort inside of Excalibur. That one's got bras and undies hanging off the walls and the "rudest" servers you'll ever meet...a total hoot.
  5. When you thinking of doing that, and which rink?
  6. Here's my normal wear: Shoei RF-1000, Aerostitch Roadcrafter jacket, Aerostitch Darien over-pants, Fox bomber gloves, and Thor 50/50 boots. For rain it's A* waterproof boots, A* SP2 gloves, and the Frog Togg pants (the Aerostitch jacket is waterproof). If it's super hot I switch jackets and use a Corazzo shop jacket which looks like a Dickies work jacket but armored. If necessary I'll add a cooling vest if I know the ride will be several hours long, which was the case back in CA. If it gets below 35 degrees I add a North Face technical fleece jacket underneath everything. If it's even lower I add a matching shirt and pants set of Schampa Skinny Gear thermals. Heated gloves are by Gerbing.
  7. That was more of a loose statement. But seriously, just basic stuff and it's fine. Actually, it got new spark plugs about a thousand miles ago. It's the valves I don't have to worry about on it. Service manual says inspection every 26.6k and even then it ended up to just be a visual check (the last one was done at 72k). That's when techs just said to hell with it and just keep on truckin.
  8. :lol:Oh dear. Three shots to take out a CRT monitor? Impressive. I wonder how long it takes to reload the thing. On a safer, less deadly note... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJpQxbvk3JU&feature=player_embedded
  9. Agreed. No engine or tranny problems at all. Techs tell me not to worry about valves until they chatter. Just oil, brakes, and tires.
  10. It's a long shot, but I'd try Safari Cycle in Long Beach, CA (http://www.safaricycle.com/). They do internet requests and are pretty reasonable with their prices. I got the Givi topcase on my FJR from a crashed Aprilia for $100 (they're almost $500 new). The actual showroom is quite a sight...like a giant room of bike fails. For used bike parts it's a matter of expanding your search everywhere.
  11. Had the phone with me today so I took this picture of the FJR's speedo. It ticked 90k in front of the Westerville Library. It's been a great three years with this bike and we've been through our share of ups and downs. A few more stats (because I somehow remember this stuff)... Mile 1: Los Angeles, CA (April 26, 2007) Mile 85000: Niagra Falls, ON (May 31, 2010) Mile 90000: Westerville, OH (August 8, 2010) It took 1201 days (3 years, 3 months, 14 days) to hit the big 90k mark. Looking forward for many more to go! Here's some other fun milestones to add. States crossed: 37 Countries visited: 2 # of Women On Wheels® International Ride-Ins: 3 Longest Round-trip Ride: 6200 miles (LA/Columbus/Kerville, TX/Roswell, NM/LAX) Longest Single-day Ride: 1004 miles (Roswell, NM to LAX) Miles since Flying Brick and I have been together: 70,000 Still shooting for 115,000. That's halfway to the moon.

  13. It's a sweet ride...I've been drooling over that bike for the last couple years. When Flying Brick and I were up in Canada in May we were looking in phonebooks for a nearby Yamaha dealer to see if we could see one in person. Same goes for the Yamaha XJR1300. It's a naked FJR with chaindrive! And that thing isn't even sold in Canada.
