  1. It's my car, now and back in CA. It's kinda hard to pull $13k out of thin air for an FJR. However, I did refinance through my credit union and drop interest to 7%. Can't argue with that, and I'm at least several months ahead of schedule. Glad I did though, that bike is still one of the best things that ever happened to me.
  2. Flying Brick took me there for our first Valentine's Day (in CA, actually). Delicious fondue, romantic lighting, and private booths...can't beat that for atmosphere. Of course we rode there.
  3. I like Brian's "landing gear" setup better anyway. He gets the help but it's still a true, full motorcycle. Trikes are a whole different animal and just strange to ride.
  4. Sad to hear about this one. Never met the man but he sounds like an awesome guy. RIP
  5. Shoei helmets carry a five year warranty. Personally I go 3 years or after an accident (for my last Shoei that meant 2.5 years). It also depends on frequency of use and whether or not you sweat a lot. If you're one of those people that drips bullets to the point that it'll soak through the padding I'd lean toward three because the additional moisture will break down the EPS (styrofoam) liner a lot faster. I've inspected helmets that people have kept around for 10+ years and in many cases, the styrofoam is either super hard or crumbles in my hands. Doesn't seem like it'll protect the same way as fresh stuff...
  6. You'll adapt quite quickly to the madness.
  7. If you're tossing it, I'd cut the straps off to make sure nobody uses the helmet again. I'd consider using it for target practice as well. Actually, I found that they make fun houses for small animals. I gave my old Icon to my hairless rat. He tore that up and now he lives in my crashed Shoei. Bird nest potential too?
  8. Obviously this would've been different if the driver was 29 rather than 92. Seriously WTF.
  9. Working at the Pony tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing the turnout. Sounds like a fun one!
  10. Route 4 has been crap for quite a while. I rode up that road with friends to Ohio Bike Week and it was pretty much ten miles of slow bumpety bump. Didn't have to deal much with Cedar Point crowds that weekend but the grooves and gravel were eating away at the tires. No fun.
  11. Had one, still miss it...awesome bike.
  12. It's the knocking noise some of the 1st Gen (pre-2006) bikes get because of a misalignment of the exhaust valves. Check this article out: http://www.bestbits.org/ticking_overview.html. It doesn't seem to be a common problem and it doesn't happen to 2nd Gen FJRs. Then again, 2nd Gen FJRs have their issues, too. Just PM me if you've got any questions about them; this thread is long enough already.
  13. Possibly. Random Friday off this week. Mmmm...steak.
