Unless they change their policy they don't rent the track unless its during the week, for one lane only, and usually at least $200-$300 per car. Now, if you want to have time on one of the best tracks in the country to get solid data on your car its worth every penny, if you just want to take a 13 second street car to hot lap, not so much...

This, this, and this some more. I worked in the hobby industry for a while and did mostly R/C ground related stuff, but the people who followed the above advice had a better time. We used to see these cowboys come in wallets blazing that had zero hobby r/c experience wanting the biggest most bad ass whatever we had. We would tell them buy cheap, learn, grow into bad ass toys. Some would listen, others would come in with broken stuff wanting us to fix it for free because the crashed it. That is why you now wee the signage at Hobbytown that pretty much says, the second you take it out of the store its on you. tldr: Buy a hobbyzone electric super cub, learn it, crash it, fix it, master it, THEN buy the gangster flight gear.

I love the sound of high reving all motor cars. The N/A 10.5 class is crazy in the NMCA. Dump the clutch, slap the wheelie bars, and yank the gears on that Liberty like you hate it :fuckyeah:

Not just the starting line, but shift points, spot in the groove, chassis setup, wheelie bars, how deep they stage. The fact they are going as quick as they do with a N/A small block is just nuts.

Thanks. I'm my own toughest critic in anything I do. What sucks is when you drop into the "pro" ranks of picture takes and see what they do, it puts you in your place REAL quick. There is a good reason why good pictures cost good money and iphone pictures are free. Next shoot with this car I hope to experiment with interior, under the hood, and maybe a bit more of an urban backdrop.

Pretty cool video that shows a small part of what it takes to run at the front on Sunday. Pro Stock cars are very touchy beasts so getting that data is important.

If I had photochop I would have taken 3 shots like the first wit the light in 3 different spots and layered them together... ....but I don't have photochop and that would have been pretty complex to pull off so it looked right.

Also, shooting with a circular polarizer would help to eliminate some of the reflections in the paint, but i was more worried about playing with the light. Next shoot with this car will be outside, at night. I also want to try and work on doing the "invisible black back round" effect at some point to.

I was only shooting with one light bouncing through an umbrella. I was shooting at 100-200 ISO, shutter was 1/25-1/250 with fstops from 2.3 to 11. This was just a total experiment to try and use what I researched online. I talked with Trish briefly to get some base ideas for settings and just fucked around from there. I shot with my 70-200, 17-55, and 50mm today. I shot from a step ladder, from a trip pod, and from the floor. Shooting with 1 light was going to be pretty difficult to get total even light on a car just due to the size of the subject. 2 lights would have been perfect to get even light on the car. This was also a test session for me to get used to shooting with a strobe before I sent to GA. to do some feature shoots.

So this was my first time using a big boy off camera stobe shooting. That shot was done app. priority where the camera chose the shutter speed. I was trying to get the car in focus and get the background to blur, just lucked into that shot to be 100% honest. Well, not just the air but the track. If they end up using the VP products and Pooch is doing prep, then I'm thinking you will see 5-10 teams in the 3's: Edwards, Stevie Fast, DeMarco, Berrry, Vladin, Mickey, Hancock, Mills, Scotty G, and maybe Sexton, or Deckart if they show.

Not going to lie, I'm ready to hear some engines fired in anger, smell some race gas, and see some serious racing. Really looking forward to heading to this race in a few days. I've been tasked with shooting 3-4 feature cars, doing a photo extra gallery, and helping the main guy do our same day coverage. I've got some off camera flash gear I will be trying and a new 50mm lens I want to get creative with and do some wide angle stuff.
