Its a very grey area, but there are lots of these cars that still have stock frame rails in them along with the uni-body. They just get lots of upgrades to fix that junk toyota engineering to get them to go down the track quick Its really neat to see the engineering that goes into converting a FWD car to RWD. That was the other thing we got to see at PK, a Cobalt getting converted.

Why would it be a different discussion? It has Lexus body parts and I think it even has a VIN tag. There are lots of race cars that still have VIN tags that have been monster garaged into a tube chassis beast. We were at PK Race Cars a few weeks ago and I got to see exactly how some of these cars are built and its pretty neat. There was a C6 getting built with a full 25.3 chassis that had the VIN tag zip tied to the A-pillar since the firewall was being worked over.

Yes, that could happen. I'm pretty sure if you took the drive line out of Mark's vette and put it in a tube chassis car it could run a 5. Stock block in the car. It might have a stock head too that has been worked over. I know Titan was running a stock head years ago on their Outlaw 10.5 car. The car is a tube chassis but the body a lot of the body panels are made off the stock molds I think, except for the nose. So, it does not have a VIN tag but there are not many race cars that do at this level. Just don't stand on the exhaust side of a rotary, you might get burnt.

Before the German Fan Boiz choke on their schnitzel, its not that GM is without flaws, GM flaws are just usually cheaper to deal with. That and you can get parts a lot easier and cheaper if there is an issue.

I've never really heard of issues with the CTS-V when it comes to drive line stuff. The maintenance really is going to be closer to that of a vette I would think since it shares pretty much the same drive line. I talked to a customer up at Big3 Racing over the summer about his V, he got away from BMW because he was tired of the maintenance and other issues. I did read that, but in the guide provided by the menu company they only wanted front lighting, no back lighting.

So I did a food/product shoot for a menu. It was my first time doing this type of shoot and it turned out okay. I had no idea about these motors, sound pretty legit. A good road racing or circle track motor has to be built in a way that it can take a whore punch to the mouth and live to tell the tale.

So as I was writing last night I got to thinking about a list of the best performance motors ever. Most of the writing I do is drag racing based and I cover both import and domestic so I get to see all kinds of crazy combos. I will get this started with my top 4. These are all production block based, no after market blocks. LSX Engine Series: These things can be just about whatever you need, drag racing, road racing, on road, off road, if you have the money it can be built, boosted, NA, nitrous, and do it well. 2JZ Engine Series: Another amazing motor that can do a ton of stuff well. It eats boost like fat girls eat cup cakes, can take a beating, and has been put in about everything except Hanna Montana The Rotary: I'm sorry but I have a little spot in my heart for the black magic the rotary offers. When built right they sound like the devil's flute at full tilt, make huge power for what they are, and shoot giant gorilla flames. The Hemi: An engine that is pretty much America's big red white and blue middle finger to the rest of the world. Its really only good at making dyno breaking power and making pigs of cars go fast but its big old truck stop tits bad ass. So, if you had to pick 4 what would they be and why?
