KTM will discontinue RC8 as 'too dangerous' for public
imprez55 replied to redkow97's topic in Daily Ride
Ditto, so I searched google and found this: http://www.autoevolution.com/news/ktm-rc8-to-be-ditched-replaced-by-track-only-v4-superbike-84800.html That article goes a different direction and says its just old, since it will be releasing an RC16 somewhere around 2017 so it can compete in MotoGP . -
To get a stamp you need the serial number of whatever it is, so it needs to be bought and paid for. The first step is buying the nfa item, then shipping it to a local fll dealer with a class 3 licence, then fill out the form 4 paperwork (either as individual or trust) and have the ffl holder fill out their portion, and finally mail it in with $200 in check or MO. Once the stamp comes in, you can then legally take possesion of the nfa item. Read through the From 4 paperwork to understand what you need, its pretty simple. I just used quicken willmaker for the trust. I did hear from a lawyer friend that a trust is not technically created until there is something in the schedule a, so my first item is just a $2 bill with the serial number. That way I could send the ATF a schedule a for the first nfa item I got.

Good catch. I thought it was the post that got fooled, but after looking at their about page (http://washingtonpost.com.co/about/) it is obvious they're different. I just thought it was funny what can make its rounds on facebook and scare people.

To be fair, 10.8GB isn't too bad. They offer rollover data plans and even up to 50GB of shared monthly, so it may be possible that you fall under the radar now.

You listed it as a track bike but mention group rides with it. Is it considered a track bike because of the damage or because of a title issue?

Here is the full 8 minute video. At about the 0:47 mark, he comes back into frame waving a gun at someones face. The following is a picture of the airsoft gun in the evidence box that was being used that day. There is a line between playing with a toy gun in a park and menacing. http://i.imgur.com/smE1B8o.jpg

No audio, so its hard to corroborate from the surveillance tapes alone. What I saw: cops drive up, kid reaches for gun in waistband, cop shoots, kid falls with gun landing next to him, cop that shot freaks out and fails to secure area or attend to the kid. Regardless of anything else happening, the suspect who might have had a gun and was pointing it at people in a park, reached into his waistband as soon as the cops rolled up and started exiting the car. The cop shot quick because the kid reached for the "weapon" quick.

Good to know, I must have misread the website. Thanks, MT

I'm going to go out on a limb and say no, since apparently he closed up shop officially in October. I can't speak for unofficially, but my guess is he is finishing this up as one of his last shop duties.

layoffs, opportunities, uncertainty and anxiety
imprez55 replied to Gixxus Christ!'s topic in Dumpster
I didn't read the rest of the thread besides the first two/three and last couple posts. I've dealt with enough different kinds of unions to know they are all annoying, nothing you can do about that. There are still CNC/machining positions around. A landing gear machining plant closed in Cleveland about a year ago, but most of those guys just went into retirement so there isn't a huge influx of that kind of machinists in NEO. I'm not sure what pay you're used to, but even the janitor was making 6 figure there (if he put in the time). I know Swagelok was hiring not too long ago, friend's dad got a job there (don't know pay); the Solon area seems to be growing continually. -
It was snowing/sleeting all day here in NEO...

From this thread, it sounds like they fuck up a bunch and then use the cost savings to pay off those who actually catch it. Granted its only 2 reports, but the jobs were dead nuts simple (oil change and 600 mile service). Reminds me of Jiffy Lube.

GoPro HD Hero 2 + Wifi Backpack and Remote feeler
imprez55 replied to flounder's topic in Other Stuff
Personally, "Feeler" usually means "ignore" or "price check". I don't know about anyone else, but that could be another reason for lack of response? -
Make it 4, since I got a TiRant 9mm. As MT said, the eForms are apparently quick when the system is working correctly (there are 4 planned restarts of the server each day).

I shipped an extra set from an R1 and they were anywhere from $15-40 per piece (there was a micron pipe in the high priced one as well). The people that can afford to do free shipping are generally the ones that ship 1000's of parts a year and can get massive discounts. My guess is you won't be able to eat it. Pro tip: make the box sizes you need, weigh the part (rough guess is fine) and calculate on usps's website.

Anyone in the Twinsburg or Lyndhurst area have a ramp for a pickup truck?
imprez55 replied to Ryan_c_F's topic in Daily Ride
You might be able to ride, but I thought it was supposed to snow/sleet or something along those lines. Regardless, you can borrow my trailer in middleburg heights if you want. Depending on the time I might even be able to meet you over on the east side with it (cleveland heights/shaker heights area). You didn't mention renting a Uhaul trailer, so I doubt you have a hitch, but I thought I would throw it out there anyway. -
Step 1 complete. Steps 2 through... whatever, below: Aaaand this guy:

Ugh, the amount of times I have been a situation where I felt uncomfortable in a public range is far too high. Just seeing the number of negligent discharges into the roofs, floors, and walls makes me nervous. I think I even posted a thread here a while back about how I found 380 brass that had been up-sized to what looked like 40S&W at the neck. Sherwin Shooting Sports in Willowick was nice when I've gone. The best feature to me is its a straight cost, not an hourly rate. Its also easy to miss, since its right in the city 10 feet from a building on one side, a dealership on the other, and across the road from apartments; thought it was a bit unusual. The only times I have been there were during the day on a weekday, so I cannot comment on the normal patrons. There is also Stonewall range, but I've found the majority of workers to be twats and the patrons even bigger ones. A & A Shooting and Hunting (yes that's the correct URL) in Garrettsville is also a pretty nice outdoor range where you can shoot something different than paper. Bonus is that its less than 5 minutes from Nelson's I haven't tried Select Fire yet, but with speedy's recommendation I guess I'll have to.

I've been locked out before, but luckily the neighbors knew me and let me borrow a cordless drill. Drill out the heads of the two screws holding lock together on a door and voila (assuming the deadbolt isn't locked). Now you're out two long machine screws instead of a cost for a locksmith. Alternatively you can drill the lock, but then you're out most of the mechanism which is much more costly than $1 from home depot. Do they have a sliding glass door or double doors in the back? Those are equally as easy to open if they haven't put in an anchor or pipe in the track.

Since the current time limit is 2-3x the original estimate without even mention of the Form 4, is it safe to assume I won't have this in hand for over 2 years from purchase date or what? Considering the Form 4 wait time will still probably be over a year, I am hitting my limit for this first stage. Who is responsible for the holdup? Is it AAC, your distributor (Major Malfunction), ATF, DE, or other?

Is this a double stack like the STI 2011's?

But seriously, claiming that no one should text and drive because your wife can't do it is terrible rational. Let me go to a gun debate with that and see how many conservatives I can piss off. Typing and driving is harder than ever with phones that only of touch screens, but they pretty much all have talk to text features. I have voiced my opinion here before, and it lines up with Magley's: if you can't do it safely, don't. I know I can do it because I have enlisted the opinions of friends wh would give me honest feedback. That goes for ANY type of driving. If you are too tired, if you can't merge, if you are too angry, if you are drunk, if you just generally suck at it, can't drive a standard shift, whatever. If you can't do it then you shouldn't, but there will always be people who don't care and are willing to put others' lives in danger. Just because there are people who are unable to and fail at it, doesn't mean that others are as inept. I can't text and ride so I don't, but everyone needs to know their own limits, asses them honestly, and adhere to them.

The graph is difficult to read, but it looks like it is getting rich on throttle roll off? Its not unusual for a turbo'd rig to be down in the 10/11's. The extra heat and compression from compression means you need it richer. What is concerning is how choppy the a/f ratio is and the fact it is getting to be 17:1... twice!! That is WAY too lean for a boosted engine. I don't know how everything is piped/wired/controlled, but something is seriously wrong and I am actually surprised you are not reporting knocking (or a blown piston for that matter). What is the timing you are using, is this under water/meth (are you using meth even with the aquamist), who made this, any exhaust gas temperatures... there are a lot of questions that need to be answered in my mind.
