Hey guys, I'm in need of a referral to a good shop in or around Dayton to work on my CBR 600RR. It just flat out stopped running during the winter and everything I've tried has failed to get it running again. I have a feeling it may be the cam/timing chain tensioner but I need to get it to a reputable mechanic to have it at least diagnosed but most likely repaired as I fear it may be beyond my mechanical ability because of my limited knowledge. The issue that concerns me is that this bike has my AMA Supersport Spec. motor in it, so I need someone who has experience with race motors in case it turns out to be something worse than I already fear, and required tear-down. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That was pretty impressive. I'd love to see that guy on the track. In phoenix we had a few guys go out on Goldwings and we had one guy take a sportster 1200 out for a trackday. I had to laugh when quite a few of the guys on their sportbikes couldn't keep up.

I need some tips regarding riding and children

I started riding my son when he turned 5 (lived in Arizona then and the minimum age for a child to be out of a car-seat is 5). I was also a fairly new rider but I was very confident in my riding ability. If I wasn't sure of my abilities I wouldn't even consider riding my kid. I started him off on short rides to his school and back and occasionally to my brothers house about 7 or 8 miles away. He did great and had logged thousands of miles on the back of my bikes. For about the first year I did have him ride on the front seat with me (still behind me though) because on my Gixxer it had him fitting snug between myself and the rear seat. I was confident in my riding ability and his ability to follow my instructions. He's even gone for a hot parade lap on my bike at California Speedway before an AMA event at age 9 I think and never had a problem. If you're going to ride your 4 year old, first I would STRONGLY urge you to log plenty of miles yourself first to be confident in your riding ability, and start off with very short rides. I would strongly urge you to check with your local law enforcement agency about age requirements because they should be able to let you know of any issues with it. But use sound judgement in your decision to ride or not ride you kid. -

I REALLY need to learn the ins and outs of reloading my own ammo and get the stuff to do it. Heck even my girl wants me to get reloading equipment since it just makes sense with all the different caliber ammo I go through. I'm sure once I get the $$ for the rig I'll be asking you guys lots of questions:D

Bird strike this morning on the way to work

I think the craziest bird strike I've seen happen was at a CCS race in Phoenix at Firebird raceway. A friend of mine sat up just at his braking marker at the end of the long straight (where you're going about 170) and took a small bird straight to his head that was flying across the track. The corner worker said that the bird exploding in mid-air like that was pretty funny though. Patrick was fine and laughed about the whole thing but he had a nice mess to clean up on his helmet. -

I didn't have to deal with purchasing an out of state vehicle, but I did just recently transfer my Arizona titles to Ohio. All they did was an inspection which, like previously stated, only consisted of a VIN check to make sure things matched. I would recommend getting a temp tag for the car from Indiana if you're able to. I don't know what the law is here but in AZ, you CANNOT put a plate (even if it's your own from another vehicle) on a vehicle that it's not officially registered to. In Arizona that's a felony for which you'll be arrested, and your vehicle impounded. No joke!! I don't know if you're allowed to do that here but I would talk to Ohio and Indiana Department of Public Safety to check and see if you're able to do that before trying it.

That Weatherby is a nice rifle. I'm not much of a shotgun fan but it sounds like you had some fun with it with the exception of the jams. Hopefully it's nothing that needs to go back to the manufacturer. Oh, and welcome to the addicting fun of shooting:D

Team needs Endurance Rider Fasttrax/motoseries

I'm not an expert by any means, but I'm pretty familiar with travel trailers and a bit with toy haulers. The biggest things I can see you running into problems with would be the framing at the rear for the door, and possibly needing to install additional floor reinforcements to support weight of motorcycles (assuming that's what would go in the back) through all of the rigors of travelling. This can lead ot even tougher problems if that's the area where the holding tanks are located as they may need to come out, and need to be relocated at least a bit to allow for more reinforcements. I would think you'd be dumping a ton of $$$ into a project like that as well as an incredible amount of time. I would think that it would probably be more sensible to just pick up a used toy hauler that's in good shape and call it a day.

I used those LED replacement bulbs on my Gixxer 600 a few years ago. I just picked them up from Auto Zone to try them. They worked good for my application but primarilly just to separate the left side of the tail light from the right because I had an integrated tail light. So it made it easier to see if the left or right blinker was on but it really didn't seem to make my bike's tail light or brake light any brighter or stand out any more. If you can find a full LED board for your bike that would probably be better and make it stand out much more to the cage drivers behind you.

I was actually surprised to see 2 Deloreans at the same place at a big hang out in Phoenix. I've always thought those cars were pretty cool. Overkill but cool:D I know I wouldn't mind having one.

I know it's broke in because it's what my brother used to shoot all the time. It's possible that it's the mag but that would mean that both of the mags are bad. Maybe I'll have to try different ones sometime and see.

I do have a GPS now so I will have to try that. I got my estimates based on measuring a 1 mile ride and seeing how much my bike recorded. (phoenix is set up on a grid system so the main roads are all 1 mile apart and pretty easy to get a good estimate on a 1 mile distance) I also tested it in quite a few areas just for comparison and got the same thing all the time. I also would test it at different speeds past the police department speed warning systems to check my estimates to see if they were close and they always seemed to be. I'll try it with my GPS as soon as the snow is gone and see what it comes up with though.

Yeah, I hear that the tracks are all pretty close out here. On Phoenix we only had Farmroads International Raceway. Not maintained at all so lots of tar snakes, pot holes, and chunky asphalt to deal with. Not much of a racetrack. I'm hoping to get back into racing or at least trackdays out here soon when I can get another generator and tire warmers. As for a paintshop, I really hope I can again soon. At least at home to do side work. I'm starting at a local Toyota dealership in 2 weeks so I'll probably be able to do my own bike at least, but once I can rent a house, I'll be able to work from home too on bikes.

Well it's mine while he's out of country;) It's the handgun I actually learned with a few years ago. And then moved to Glocks that my brothers-in-law carry for Phoenix PD. But every time I've used that Kimber, it gave me problems.

I found that my bike recorded 1.1 miles for every 1 mile I rode. So for every 11 miles, I was actually going 10. And that means that for every 11 mph I was traveling, I was actually going 10. So at 66 mph, I was actually going 60. Or at least pretty darn close to it. So the mileage is off a bit but not an extraordinary amount.

I'm hoping to start racing with WERA or whatever org is out here to race with. It will be awhile though because I had to sell my tire warmers and generator to pay rent after getting laid off. But I'm hopelessly addicted to racing. I was CCS/SW #9 last year, so I guess I was doing ok. I probably suck now that I haven't been on the track for awhile.
