  1. Okay bumping this from the grave.

Taking reasonable offers. I know what the bikes worth. Just under 6k miles now. Has a 1/4" long scratch on the left fairing. I'm also open to trades + cash for certain 600s.

My daddy once told me, "It's only worth what someone will pay". Good luck with the sale!

  2. I'm sure they will all shoot better than most of us are capable of shooting them. I used to have a 700 BDL in .243. Great gun, but I don't think it would necessarily be any better than the others listed.

My current .308 is an 90 year-old Mauser conversion with a Mojo site. Actually, really accurate for such a cheap gun.

  3. would it be totally gay to wear full leathers to work and change when i get here?

maybe i can fit old jeans over my leathers and it will just look like i have a lame leather jacket... hmmm...

No, it wouldn't be gay at all. I used to be self-conscious about it, but I'd rather ride and arrive clean and safe. I have a position that requires a suit some days and at least khakis and a tie the others. I go right to my office, take the gear off, take my washcloth to the bathroom, go back to my office and fix my helmet head with the washcloth and towel. People are used to seeing me, so the novelty is gone. Go for it! We need more professionals out there bringing some credibility to our passion.

  4. When it's time to get a bike, don't bite off more than you can chew. Get something sensable, and used. Get used to it. Enjoy it. When you are comfortable, you can sell it for about what you paid and then move to that bigger bike. Starting out on a 1000cc sport bike is rarely a good idea. I started on a 250 and I feel that I am a better rider because I was able to concentrate on so many more things than throttle control. Not saying that you need to start out on a 250, but something with a good, gradual, throttle.

  5. do you really have to go to all that trouble to ride?

For the most part. My wife stays home with the kids. So for me to wake up on Saturday and say "have a good day, I'm going riding" isn't going to cut it. That turns her 5-day week into a 6-day week. I'm sure if I really wanted to go, it's not a matter of permission. It's a matter of conscience. But that commute gets me to work with a smile and relieves the stress of the day on the way home. I already have May 22nd carved out.

  6. Commute! I'm married with three as well. Hence, I'm not allowed to ride for fun either. The key is.... sell your story to the wife that it is a safe, economical way to get to and from work. You will save hundreds of dollars in gas and get some enjoyment every day as well. I just hope she doesn't catch on that I seem to pull more weekend-duties when the sun is out. Don't tell! Keep the bike, enjoy it, and be safe!

  7. I like it. Seems cleaner to me. I've been on some forums with a "Thanks" or "Thumbs Up" button. I like that because you don't have 20 people replying with "+1" or "I agree". Either format, you run a great forum. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it.

I do like the rotating pictures at the top of the current format. Any way to integrate that? When I'm bored at work, I just sit there and hit "home" over and over and over and over.

  8. I was at Cabela's yesterday in WV they had .380 in stock. First time i've seen it for a long time. That $12 9mm they had was some Russian Steel stuff and since someone scared me about steel for a pistol i went Brass.

Their prices suck. I bought a box of 100 Winchester 9mm for $26.99 Wal-mart in Stuebenville later had the same thing for $20

    On-line must be better.

No question, their general prices suck. But the clearance prices aren't that bad. I generally watch the Vance's fliers and stock up when the prices are right. I used to shoot steel out of the AK, but that was an AK. I might buy some steel for my Armageddon stock-pile. But it's useless at NASR.

  9. If you're comfortable ordering on-line, Cabela's has some decent deals. The .380 Magtech ends up being around $19.00/box of 50. If you can shoot steel, 9mm is about $12.00/box of 50. Hit them at the right time and shipping can be free.
