  1. Looking for a 5x10 enclosed with ramp door. Torsion axle and 15" wheels preferred. Also would love a V-nose, but not necessary. Color, who cares. Shape, please be decent. Location, I'm flexible. Thanks.
  2. You got it, I fixed up a '93 250 and I had that issue and it was the throttle cable routing. When I replaced all the cables, I didn't route them properly and at lock it would rev to the moon and stick when the bars went back to straight. Plus the carbs do need cleaning. The pilots in that motor are tiny and get clogged up easy. I had to clean them after sitting every winter, even with using Stabil.
  3. The insurance is weird. I'm 32 no tickets no accidents and I pay $80 a year with full coverage and extra as well. With Allstate and they have my house, car and RC51. I do pay $280 for the RC though.
  4. Price is high, can do much better. Though it does have all the right mods.
  5. The first gen does vibe, or did vibe in my case. In stock form it vibes bad at 5500 rpm in 6th gear, right at cruising speed. Ivan's jet kit cured it for me and a bunch of others. I also got rid of the stock bar and went with a renthal streetfighter bend. Been great since then. I do like the second gen and wouldn't mind one, but in riding both, the first gen makes super long hauls easier and that's what mine is for. For sticking around Ohio, the second gen would be fantastic.
  6. I have a first gen FZ1 and love it. I use mine to tour and its great. 200 miles for fillups on the highway, around 170 flogging it. I changed the riders position on mine. It is much sportier now. The biggest upgrade is fixing the stock suspension. I went Ohlins out back and springs and oil up front. Also the Ivan's jet kit really fixes the bike and wakes it up a bit with the addition of a slipon. I use soft saddle bags and a JC Whitney top case on a rack from twisted throttle. Plenty of space for a week on the road with a dry bag on the passenger seat. Also to note, the first gen FZ1 and first gen (98-00) R1 have the same motor. Only difference is the side draft carbs on the FZ1 vs the down draft on the R1. My only issue is the measly alternator output. Running GPS, heated grips and heated vest really taxes the charging system. Bike doesn't charge the battery unless the motor is spinning over 5k. Any thing else, I'll be glad to help on the first gen.
  7. Interested but two questions. 1. What's the GVW? Should be on a plate somewhere on the trailer. 2. Torsion or leaf spring axle?
  8. I just picked an RC up last year. Great bike, someone will have a blast with it! Not the most comfortable, but when you're flogging it, good stuff.
  9. If you have a new battery, check it before anything is turned on (record voltage), then again with the key on, then running. If it's the R/R, the battery will start to drain quite rapidly. The R/R's do go, easy fix. On my Buell my connector from the stator to the R/R fried on my trip back from Deal's Gap. It melted at Mansfield and I made it to Lodi, but had to stop for gas. Other wise I would have tried to make all the way to N. Ridgeville. I was stranded and hade to wait for a buddy with a trailer.
  10. The big Honda twins are terrible on batteries. As suggested, charge it up, check it out under load (in bike, key on). There's a range where it should be. If it's not, time for a new one. My RC always seems like the battery is dying when starting it, but it's not, it just pulls a lot of juice. I'll be putting in a Shorai when I can find one in stock somewhere. Also, if the battery checks out good, you might need a rectifier. Easy fix and there are also ways/proceedures to check them out on the web as well. They do tend to fail, as they get pretty hot and if it's the original on the bike, it might be time to replace it. Modern street bikes do run off the battery and it is needed during operation, unlike dirty bikes. The battery is charged during riding, but the juice is used by the ECM/coils/guages/etc...
  11. Sorry for the REALLY late reply. Had a baby on Nov. 1st and this is the first time logging back onto OR. Tire is going back on the bike due to a nail in a new Power Pure. Thread closed.
  12. There's a small group leaving Burr Oak State park at 10am on Saturday. returning to that area later in the evening. I don't know the route, but it'll be good. Stops of food twice, get back around dark. I'll be staying down there at the cabins, and hence where the meet up will be. Just look for all the bikes.
  13. Still for sale.... Will be out of town Friday through Sunday, but will work with you....
  14. It's supposed to be awesome down south this weekend. 70's and sunny. I'll be heading down on Friday and heading back on Sunday with a bunch of SV650 yahoo's.... Staying at Burr Oak State Park. This will be on of the last "good" riding weekends of the season... Hope to see you guys down there...
  15. I have an AGV set of two piece leathers (Model is Apache), with full 360 degree zip. Not perfed, but have zipped vents front and back. Never down, bought new back in 2003, used at about 8 track days and maybe once or twice on the street. Size 52 USA. I've been happy with these, but just purchased a one piece. Heavy leather through out (it's a heavy suit, weights more than my new 1 pc), double layers, great stitching. I'm 6' about 235lbs, 46" chest, 36~37" waist and these are a bit big on me. Back protector fits inside just fine. Yes they are a bit ugly...but they work and will get you on the track. Not many suits out there for the big boys. Will come with a new set of Buell branded knee pucks. Asking $200 face to face. I'll ship, but you'll have to pay. Can help with delivery as I travel the eastern 1/3 of the state (line from Elyria to Marietta, east of that). Link to AGV site: http://www.agvsport.com/2002/2pc/apache/index.htm
  16. When I bought my RC51, this came on it. It's a great tire, but I bought it to use as a track ho and I want something better. The previous owner put this on brand new. I broke the tire in on two rides around Coshocton (both about 210 miles) area and one trip through the metro parks here in Cleveland. Details: 180/55-17 Michelin Pilot Power (NOT 2CT) Date code 36th Week of 2008 About 500 miles, no more than 600. Looks to be flat spotting, but I thinks it's just cause it's unmounted. Lots of tread depth left Fully scrubbed in (due to a soft rear shock, now fixed) Asking: $100 face to face. Will ship, but you pay. I really don't want to ship, but will. I travel a bunch for work and I frequent the eastern 1/3 of the state (draw a line from Elyria to Marietta, east of this)
  17. I have the morning to ride and will be getting out. I haven't played around Atwood Lake region in awhile, so I'm planning to head out there for a bit tomorrow. My plan is to get out of Ridgeville by 10am, get to 77 & 800 and head to Delroy via the back roads. I plan to be back to Ridgeville by 6pm at the latest. If any one wants to join, post up. The pace will be sporty (attack the corners, 10 over on the straights and with safe passing - double yellow or not).
  18. I will be riding this weekend as well and wish you were a closer. By the time I ride to meet you, I could already be at the twisty stuff. I'll probably end up playing around the Atwood Lake region for a bit on Saturday. Then where ever on Sunday.
  19. Just sent a PM. Been out of town all week with work and haven't had a chance to get online.
  20. Good choice on the Road2's. I currently have 5k miles on mine with long highway trips, fully loaded and then beating on them down in the Deal's Gap area. They aren't squared at all. Plus they offered me the same level of grip and feedback on the road, as the PP's did. This is/was on my FZ1. The biggest thing, I ran 38F/42R for the highway part and 33F/36R for the twisties. Great tire. For the track, I've been a huge fan of the PP 2CT's...but will try the Pure's once my current mish mash set weats out on the RC. A normal street rider, will not out ride the Road2's on the street...unless you are ham fisted with a high HP motor.
  21. http://www.sprocketcenter.com/ A plus 1 from me. Ordered a bunch of times from these folks and everytime, I'm impressed.
  22. Stock is a 15 tooth front. Going to a 16, is fine for if you are touring and looking to increase gas mileage. But you will loose any take off that bike has. I tired it on my breathed on first gen and it wasn't fun. Okay for highway...but commutting it stunk. You'll slip the clutch more on take off and it will bog once the clutch it fully disengaged until motor gets building torque. If you want less, try a 15/44 (stock SV-S) sprocket combo or try a 43 or 42 for the rear. You'll still have some issues with the 42, but it's still better than a 16 on the front. I ran 15/46 as it was perfect for Mid-O, twisties and general commuting. 75 on the hgihway was 5500 RPM. 15/47 didn't do it for me for twisties. As you know, to get to them from Cleveland, you had to hit some highway. Too buzzy. But those were good for Beaverun.
  23. I have a set of used Avon Distanzia's you can have. 120/70 and 160/60. They are the supermoto compound and have about 1500 miles on them. They are just getting to the wear bars (1mm away). Have about 500~1000 miles left on them, maybe more on your XR. I just pulled them off my Ulysses that I sold and have no bike that takes those sizes. Just planning to toss them out with the garbage next week. No holes, no tears. Front is a tad cupped, but those tires wear funny on heavy bikes. I spooned them on last year for my trip to Deal's Gap (rode there and back) and spanked 'em while I was down there. They aren't perfect, but they have some miles left. I'm in N. Ridgeville (West of Cleveland).
  24. I made it back just before 2pm. No issues on the 2nd half of the ride.
