  1. I've never done two up touring on a cruiser, but did plenty on my old Ulysses. That was perfect, once I upgraded the springs. It did have a handy preload knob to increase the preload to switch from one up to fully loaded in 30 seconds. I know you like the lowered look, but if you want comfort, ability to lean it a bit and ability to tour, go back to stock height, get some adjustable air shocks for the rear, so you can toss in a few more PSI when fully loaded. For the front, I'd just get some stiffer springs, set up for rider weight plus some gear (it might be a little stiff just one up and empty) and add the Race Tech emulators, some heavier oil and ride. The emultors might be "old" tech, but I ran them in my track SV and didn't have an issue running expert at mid-ohio on track days.
  2. I did what is shown in buildit's post. I bought the smallest Campbell Hausfield compressor at Wally World for under $20, removed the case, wrap it in a shop towel and it fit neaty under the seat on my FZ1. It also fit in the back of the RC51, SV and Ulysses. To make it even smaller, you can cut the fan off, I haven't. Though I did, cut off the cigarette lighter plug, and soldered in a SAE type plug. It plugs right into my battery tender pigtail. Works great and I have used it atleast once a year to help people out while on the road. It'll inflate a completely flat 180/55 that was just plugged in about 4 minutes. Not bad. Plus, it's way better than the CO2 kits, or a bicycle pump. I did this back in 2000 and it's still running strong today. Even with bouncing around in the back of the bikes.
  3. I am getting out this weekend. Sunday would be best for me, I think. If I ride on Saturday, it'll be later in the day. If I can get the larger tank on the sumo, I'll end up taking that. But that'll be 100 miles and stop for some gas. If I don't have the big tank, it's 60 miles and I'm looking. Either way, I'll keep an eye on the thread. For the route, I don't mind making one up and leading, if need be.
  4. So this thing just arrived tonight. I tried it on and the helmet fits, but the ear pockets for me are not right. My dumbo ears do not fit into them and they pinch. This large helmet fits just like all larges from Fox, O'neal, MSR that I tried on. I bought this from eBay and bought a large, just as my Shark RSR2. The helmet shape and interior fit the same between both. It still has all tags attached and has never been worn. But.... I bought this from eBay and the seller says no returns. Great... The issue I have with this lid, is the white plastic around the eye port is discolored. Not a big deal for me as it's just going to get used. I tried to take as best a pic as I can, but it might not come out. The lower ring around the helmet is perfectly white. The eye port, is a tanish white. Yeah, it looks bad. But a few rides in the dirt and it'll be that way. I haven't tried to clean it, I'll let the new owner do that. The helmet born on date is on the box (12-2006), yes it's 5 years old, but the five year rule is from time of use once your sweat gets into the glue. The lid has a fully removeable liner that's plush. This lid is super light (one of the reasons why I bought it) and has the Shark EPS liner system (it's a series of grooved/molded EPS that crushes on impact and is not a full EPS. Price, due to the discoloration, is $100 in person. I'll ship but I ask you pay for shipping. This lid retails for $229 and you can find them online and other places for around $150ish. The ONLY reason why I'm selling this is because I don't like the fit. Seems like I'll have to drive to the Pony and find one that does.
  5. It's always about the desitnation when I slab it. I have no issue with doing 6~12 hours on the bike. Headphones with the ipod hooked up, sitting behind a taller screen, but not tall enough to prevent air flow and a camel back filled with water, ice tea or gatorade. Also, I fit a set of throttle rockers to both side to take some pressure off and a cabby beaded seat cover reworked to fit the drivers seat. It makes riding way more easier. No more monkey butt. For me, it's relaxing to spend the time riding that long. With the right bike, you are actual relaxed when you get to where your going. I ride 200 miles, pull off to get some gas and go. Most times, I don't even get off the bike. When I stop for food I will.
  6. Have a few things in the works, but looking at one more option as I'm waiting to hear back from a dealer on 2010 Husky left over. Will sell in stock condition, will have a set of Jardine Aluminum dual slip-ons, Competition Werkes undertail, LED signals front and rear, Factory Pro Shift Kit and Barnett Clutch kit. $4,500 cash.
  7. When you ride it, you don't have to look at it. Same cannot be said about the last girl at the bar that you take home. The HOA might have with the old Erions on there. 4" Diameter cans with minimal packing. The Sato's sound and are much better.
  8. What you call the SP1 tail, was one the bike up to 2002. In 2003 they went to a reversed scheme. Instead of black number plates on a silver tail, it was silver number plates on a black tail. I like the 2003 tail better, but the previous owner did not. Finding a 2003 tail in good condition is a little harder than trying to make a diamond out of a lump of coal.
  9. I have both. On it now is the stock seat cowl. I have the stock passenger seat along with the stock passenger footpegs. Both will come with the bike in it's current state.
  10. Any interest let me know, I'm thinking to turn it back into mostly stock (will have a set of Jardine exhausts on it) and selling it that way, at a reduced price.
  11. How about... http://www.ohioriders.net/showthread.php?t=78683 Add in a set of sharkskins and you're good to go. Needs nothing to be track worthy, as that was my intentions.
  12. Any V-twin is going to have issues with prolonged wheelies. All the oil is going to the back of the sump and if the pickup is in the bottom middle or front of the sump, you are going to loose oiling on the front cylinder. All SV650's have this issue, the first gen are the worst. I haven't heard about SV1000's having this issue, but they will if you keep it up for a long time. Short burst wheelies/power wheelies are fine.
  13. SV1000S (half faired) 2003 ~ 2008 SV1000 (naked) 2003 Only TLS 1997 ~2001 TLR 1998~ 2003 SV650 (naked) First Gen (1999 ~2002) - round frame SV650S (faired) First Gen (2001 ~ 2002) - round frame SV650 (naked) Second Gen (2003 ~ 2008) - square frame SV650S (faired) Second Gen (2003 ~ 2010) (I think) - square frame SVF650 (Gladius) (2009~current)

  15. Is that starting spot in Lodi? The Pilot station? If I get up, I'll try to make it. Been at the Indians game all night and I had a few too many, ummm... soda's.
  16. I do not offer a service to change tires, I just like help out fellow local riders.
  17. Yeah, Sat I might get out around NEO. But if the weather holds up, I'll be down in SEO. Also, offer stands for the tire change. I'm just around the corner (between Detroit and Center Ridge Rd off of Case Rd).
  18. I may try and get out for a bit this weekend as well. So I'm open. InyaAzz - If you have a tire, I have a changer and could do it this weekend. Just bring the bike and tire and it'll get done.
  19. Hole saw and some playdough. No really. You take the playdough, make a large flat disc, stick it on the inside of the fairing. When you line up the fairing to install the slider will indent the playdough. viola...exactly where you need to cut.
  20. No sleeping, just toy hauling. Looking for a 5x10 as it would still fit two bikes if need be. Mainly for one bike. Tow vehicle is a Pathfinder with the 4l V6 and while it'll tow a 6x10, its not super happy with it. You notice it back there more. It's rated to tow 7500 lbs, but I'm halving that number.
