Do you agree with motorcycle only checkpoints in Georgia?

Semi-repost http://www.ohioriders.net/showthread.php?t=72493 Why would anybody agree with this? -
It is all said and done but I was looking for a cheaper alternative to the COBRA coverage I've been paying since I left my job. Basically I haven't been to a doctor in the past decade, but want to be covered if I wad myself somehow. I think she stacked a separate accident policy on top of a high-deductible standard medical policy. Motorcycle "penalty" or not, I'm happy to be covered for such things at a significant savings from what I was paying, and hopefully this is all relatively temporary anyway. The 55 minutes I spent on the phone today are as much effort as I care to put into it...

They actually did ask about accidents and traffic violations, but I'm not sure if those were car-related questions or if the flowchart led to that only because I answered "yes" to the motorcycle question.
-
So I'm shopping for medical insurance and I asked an advisor if there were any exclusions on the accident policy, motorcycles in particular. She told me nothing was excluded, but motorcycle riders pay approximately 20% premium. So then I talk to another person for medical history, and after what seemed like an eternity of actual medical questions, she asked something to the effect of whether or not I ride a motorcycle. I said yes, and asked if that question was standard or just for me based on my previous discussion. She said that it was a standard question, but I am the only person that she has ever had answer yes. I told her that it was the primary reason I am shopping for medical coverage, not gonna lie about that one. I can see this turning into a hate thread over discrimination against motorcyclists, but I just thought it was funny that this is the ONLY "high risk" activity that they asked about. On a semi-related note I once had a policy through school that specifically excluded skydiving.

Too small to read

You can crack the case in that area by crashing, throwing a chain, or even overtightening a stator cover bolt. Depends on what caused it and how bad it is. Might be something you can JB weld to hold oil and ride forever, but the value would be whatever it's worth to you.

I was told by an ex-LEO teaching my MSF that if after a reasonable amount of time, if you have come to the conclusion that a sensor is not registering your bike, that you could proceed on the justification of a "malfunctioning traffic signal," being that the correct procedure for a "malfunctioning traffic signal" is to treat it as a four-way stop. Of course while reasonable amount of time is discretionary, I usually figure it out when the intersection has gone a whole cycle without giving me a green. If there is a car behind me I will usually try to inch up and get them to hit the sensor rather than look like "that guy" running the light. I was also told to put my front wheel right on the corner of the cutout in the pavement and have rarely ever had this problem. The above advice has actually been more useful in my truck than on my bike - I have had several occasions where stopping in the wrong spot on a snow-covered road has failed to activate a left-turn arrow where there is a separate left-turn light.

I missed #1 because I was thinking of that new FZ8.

Not a NASCAR fan. Watched Pastrana's race a little while back, he got fifth by avoiding trouble. Watched Carmichael's truck race from Friday, he ran 2nd most of the race behind his teammate, eventually got freight-trained on a restart, avoided trouble, got 8th. I actually watched that race very quickly by fast-forwarding through the single-file parts and cautions. Didn't see the 500 - was it like the truck race where the fast line was just to stick your LF on the double yellow and run single-file around the bottom? Commentators were blaming it on the repave - almost seemed like they were apologizing for the boring. In my opinion speedway racing is just like driving 200mph bumper-to-bumper on the freeway for hours, stopping for gas once in awhile, just waiting for someone to screw up. Seems anyone can win on luck - I'm not amazed some random kid won Daytona, I'm more amazed that Jimmie Johnson has consistently won championships. I guess it's just a matter of putting yourself in the right place at the right time. Oval track racing in general is more about car setup that driver. You just need a guy physically and mentally fit to be consistent over a race distance. I'm not at all surprised by Pastrana and Carmichael's apparent roundy-round "ability" - they both have some serious teams behind them. I also generally hate any form of racing with pit stops.

Erik is super-pumped on his patented ZTL brakes, fuel-in-frame, and underslung exhaust. To build a bike without ony of these would be heresy.

Really? A friend was riding his younger brother's bike with no helmet and his girlfriend on the back. Allegedly the reason for the stop was because the registered owner did not have a full "M" endorsement. Once the situation was explained, it was "OK, have a nice day." Regardless of opinions on whether it was probable cause, it could have been a made up reason, but it makes more sense that it went down just how he said. Doesn't seem like a stretch to me to get from license plate to registered owner to license status.

I'm in. Need an excuse to go somewhere in this weather. Wish I could snap my fingers and have a bike ready to go...

6ft. Probably no good for a sportbike into a full size.

Harley riders don't have face shields. Duh.

Those are some weird comment from uber-engineer Erik Buell. Don't have alot of specific details? It feels lighter when pushing it? Brilliant!

Nice whoolies guy. Might as well have been a sportbike. Worst sumo video ever.

Your bike has none of that data available electronically. If you really wanted it, you could set up a MyChron dash for the price of a jesus phone.
-
Just a general stab: last year before major redesign, five-digit mileage, salvage title, I'd say around 4k assuming the bike appears to be undamaged street stock condition upon thorough visual inspection.

On an unrelated note, there is a nice Denny's now at the Flying J at 36/37. Ended up there Saturday night. Denny's>Waffle House

I ended up rattle can using about $36 worth of paint, and that ended up being primer/color/clear. Of course I also bought sanding sponges and tack cloth for prep, a fan to exhaust my "paint booth", a HEPA filter for the shop vac for cleanup, and I *should* have bought a respirator. It looked good new but it sun faded to after about 4 days. Of course I'm still running that paint job over 3 years later. I'm not interested in a high dollar pretty paint job - hell, I'm afraid to do a repaint on these plastics for fear of bad luck. I would however definitely be willing to pay a pro or otherwise a little bit to just shoot some solid color over another set of primered plastics so I could avoid the hassle. I *am* a cheap bastard. I was going to run in the primer they came in, but was afraid it would rub off on everything.

IBM’s Watson Supercomputer Set to Take On Jeopardy Champs
TSB67 replied to Disclaimer's topic in Dumpster
From Twitter: "@AssholeMcDick: If I was facing Watson on #Jeopardy tonight I'd just unplug his smart Robot ass. Me: 1 Watson: 0" "@jamesbickers: Hey #Watson, if you say "Suck it, Trebek," I will only buy IBM computing products for the rest of my life." "@@wyshynski: I'm just watching #jeopardy until WATSON unmasks to reveal that it's actually been Sean Connery this entire time. #GotchaTrebek" Yes, I'm that bored.
