  1. Haha... I heard Valley View was the place to be for shenanigans when the first one came out. I went to the wrong theater.

    Which one?

Speaking of which, those extra side covers on the 09+ are just there to hide all the ugly hardware of the ABS versions...

    Which one?

"Tank" is a plastic cover. Base your decision on condition vs actual cost (price+travel). P.S. Extra blacked-out parts are nice but those will all come off anyway when you make it a track whore.
  4. I'd be down on occasion. Tonight I was just beat from riding and shoveling.

    Ice ready

Finally rode this today after a petcock failure of all things the first time out. Although I was quite pessimistic after talking to some people and reading some stuff between then and now, this wasn't the complete failure I expected it to be. It gripped well and slid predictably relative to the other pitbikes I've ridden, held air and I only lost 1 screw on the front and 5 in the rear. It's just an XR50 play bike and it exceeded my expectations - I'm no flattrack pro for sure. Should have used some longer screws, but I have about 100 of these supposedly worthless 3/8" ones left over and will just keep pluggin' 'em in for now. If I get serious I'll get some real tires for a big bike. I appreciate the input from the folks who actually know what they're doing.
  6. If I paid a non-refundable hundred-plus dollars, drove so many hours to the track, and it's safe go out and have some fun, I'm riding. I'm never turning a wheel on a wet Midohio again, but I've enjoyed wet Beaver at both 75F/heavy rain and 37F/damp. If the day started dry and then turns wet it really sucks, since you were already at that pace, but sometimes those days that start wet and then dry out just make it that much sweeter...
  7. Nice to meet you man. You loaded up and split quick, decided you'd had enough? What's this "we" stuff?
  8. Hells yeah! http://thereifixedit.failblog.org/tag/tail-light/
  9. I bought back a totaled car from Farmer's Insurance in 2002, and they made me go to the DMV myself to convert the title to salvage before they would give me a check.

    556 ammo

Yeah, but you won't find brass case copper jacket for under 30 cents per round after shipping and/or tax. That's about the going rate.
  11. That might be accurate now. The three around Polaris/Westerville closed real quick though and were still on there for some time.
  12. Why, were you at MO when I went down in the grass first lap first session as a "veteran novice?"
  13. I limit myself for fear of crashing, but it's probably not what you think. I'm not scared for the well-being of myself or my bike, I just don't want to be "that guy."
  14. To drive the final nail in the coffin of the few Quiznos that are left? Is there one in Columbus besides the airport? A friend and I joked about buying cheap plane tickets so we could get through security and have Quiznos for lunch after the three closest to here closed.
  15. FWIW, NESBA membership is only $25 now (was $75 the past several years). Went from "significant" to "negligible" IMO.
  16. I wasn't there, but just had to say: What's funny is last night I apparently unknowingly looked at the pics from last year, and today I looked at the pics from this year, and only the shirts have changed. I was digging the "SILF" shirts though...
  17. Trust me, it ain't too sweet in a car either. I almost somersaulted one outside of 1 and 2.
  18. Come pick my ass up then, because I don't think I have enough salt to get my one-wheel-drive truck out of my steeply sloped driveway. I thought about the 50 with screws in the tires while walking out to the garage. Too bad they salt the streets.
  19. It's all relative. If you go to Nelson first, the bumps won't bother you. Then, when you go to Beaverun, you'll think you've died and gone to heaven. Then after you ride Midohio, you'll bitch about the bumps wide on some of the exits at Beaverun. Then after your ass is thoroughly spoiled you'll bitch about the bump at the carousel exit at Midohio, and maybe even pick up on that weird thing going on at the apex of (what I call) 8.

    Sponsors???

Maybe he meant what I was thinking - what happened to the sponsor forums?
  21. I did the BBS thing, even had a second phone line at home as a kid. I remember registering for an account on the Cleveland Freenet in the early 90s but never really understood its purpose. The first time I really saw what we now know as the internet was when I started college in 95. I specifically remember being in a computer lab and asking a stereotypical computer-nerd-looking-type "How do I find anything on here?" He told me to "type in www.webcrawler.com," and I thought to myself, "dammit, I'm not interested in Spiderman comic book crap." I probably used Webcrawler as my search engine for over a decade after that, until I finally caved to Google...
