  1. Its not the rich that are getting soaked, its the middle class. BTW, why aren't the libtards all screaming about gas prices? Five years of $3+ per gallon. When they went up for a month or so under Bush, the Lefties were up in arms.
  2. Sounds like you made the right call for your circumstances. Signal depends on where their towers are. Maybe they see that everyone else has your area saturated, and the benefit doesn't justify the cost.
  3. When we moved to the neighborhood, I characteristically made an instant enemy. Three doors down is a car drag racer. Nice enough guy. So we're bench racing out in the driveway, and I make a crack about "yeah, anybody can go fast in a straight line". Eight years later and he still hasn't gotten over it. Though he's still actively racing and I havent' been on a track in a few years, and only for a track day back then.
  4. Good link. Thank you. The "cheaper than them" commercials for AT&T and Sprint often get me thinking about leaving Verizon, but we've been with VZW from the start (through all the name changes), and they really do have good coverage and service.
  5. "We're number one! We're number one! Now lets go flip cars and set them on fire!! Yaayyyyyy OHIO!"
  6. You love Magz. It gives you somebody to spar with... I think you'd be lost w/o him.
  7. Sounds like a geothermal, which is a different type of system. My less efficient heat pump stops doing its thing at about 42 degrees and the system switches over to propane. My neighbors heat pump is reportedly more effecient and runs all. of. the. time. when its below 20 degrees or so. Most of these systems are quiet (the outside unit, that is), but theirs must have been damaged in shipping cuz it clangs and bangs like its coming apart. Its on our side of their house, and away from their living area, so they don't hear it. Sorry, needed to vent.
  8. Nathan was stepping in to help me with it, but I contacted Bell directly. Waiting on a response. Thanks for all of the input here. Looks like I just got a bad one. Or I've got glaucoma...
  9. Unable to PM due to your newness. Don't know if you can PM me or not. I'm technologically illiterate, so other than posting my phone # here on the board (which I'm not gonna do), not sure how else we can communicate other than here.
  10. As mentioned recently, I love my new RS1 so far. I ordered the light tint OEM shield with it. While riding, it wasn't very crisp/ clear. Looked like it had a film or something on it. I tried cleaning it with lens cleaner and a microfiber rag/ towel, but it didn't help at all. Is this typical for Bell shields? I'm NOT buying the Transitions shield for it. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the amazingly clear and correct shields of my Shark lid.
  11. I can't believe this thread is still rolling
  12. My in-laws were told in 1985 when they bought an older house that the oil furnace may last another 2-3 years. Its still in the house and functioning
  13. Between the two choices that the OP mentions, I say Mazda. I had an 04 Maz 3 that was amazing, and my mom had a MIata for many years that was also a great, reliable, low-maintenance-cost car. Everyone points to Toy and Hon as "great, reliable cars", but I think Maz is very overlooked. I'd own another in a heartbeat. They need to toot their own horn more about their product. They just kind of hang out under the radar. My neighbor has a small Jeep SUV (may be a Patriot), and he always seems to be in his garage working on it. I give him grief by asking him if thats what they mean by "its a Jeep thing". The Equinox has a Chinese engine. No way. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/26/business/worldbusiness/26chevy.html?_r=0 (Sorry. Posted this before I saw the similar thing above).
  14. I got an email blast from one of the leaders of my sons Boy Scout troop a few minutes ago. He states that based on conversations with multiple local weather experts from different agencies (we're in the Dayton/ Cinti area), "we could have snow until late May or early June this year". Aaaaargh. I spoke to a client in Minneapolis last week. She said that even THEY are sick of the snow, "and we're running out of places to put it".
  15. \ first ride across town to my dads to show him it ran.<< Oh you are gonna catch sooo much hell for riding in shorts. The ATGATT crowd is going to eat you alive.
  16. I thought "four foot motorcycle? Sounds like a Grom. Why not just lift it into the truck (or put it in the trunk of a Camry)?". Nice find. Congrats.
  17. 2003 Z400 here. Love it. Aggressive riding as well as KY and TN trails. Never had a lack of power, and a decent one can be had for less than $2k. Only mods are airbox and K&N filter (as well as > main jet to compensate).
  18. Fedex the parts, and if you have quite a few going out, get an account with them (gets you a discount). The "dimensional weight" is going to kill you on these things. May only be 5 lbs, but the dimensional weight on a large box will make it equal to (for example) a 25 lb parcel. I agree with Imprez: Do a mock-up or estimate on a large piece, like a front fairing which will need a large box, and use UPS or Fedex' online calculator to get an idea of price. You may not make enough $$$ to make it worth your time, effort, and supplies. Big boxes are cheap at Lowes/ Home Depot, and you can cut them down to fit. If shipping an upper fairing, either sell it with the windscreen attached or put an old screen on it to ship it. If not, odds are that the horns on the fairing will break, the buyer will be pissed, and you'll have to give him all of his money back PLUS try to sell a broken upper. I rarely sell on ebay anymore, but used to be a powerseller. Ebay has completely removed any "rights" from the sellers, and the buyers know it.
  19. Nathan kept posting up deals on beeeyoootiful helmets, but I just can't justify some of the prices. He posted up the day-glo yellow Bell RS-1 Emblem a little while ago. I didn't care for the yellow, but he made me a good deal on the matte black/ gray version of the same lid, so I bit the bullet, and also ordered a light smoke shield. They arrived quickly, and just as ordered. I finally got a chance to ride with the new lid yesterday (Sat 02/22/14) for about an hour, and am thoroughly impressed. I've generally had Arai's and Shoei's, and my current go-to helmet was a Shark RSR2 (also a good helmet). This Bell is a great helmet. Good fit and finish and amazingly quiet. I ride a SV1000 with Yosh pipes on it, and heard those, but didn't have much wind noise at all. Even on the highway at speed. Mine is an unfaired bike, so I'm all up there in the wind blast, and it was still great. Incredible stability at speed, too. My head didn't bounce around AT ALL. I feel a lot of turbulence with my Arai's and Shark on the highway, and it gets old pretty quickly, but this Bell is very stable. May be the lip on the back, or whatever. But whatever they did, it works. Cheeks are a little tight, but 40mm thick is stock and I ordered some 30mm this morning, so we'll see how that does. Now I'm kind of curious about the Star series, but for what I do, this RS-1 is near perfect, at a great price. Thank you, Nathan and RD! Money well-spent.
  20. Gives us a heads-up next time. $400 seems like a bargain for his knowledge. They're nowhere near our area again, per current schedule.
  21. I'm amazed at the small number of bikes I see on the streets when I visit family in Texas. But their traffic is a whole lot "worse" than most of ours up here. I'm not sure I would ride that much down there. Roads are either way congested, or just straight and flat. Borinnnnggggg. Plus, its soooo hot in the summer that they spend it indoors/ in their AC'ed cars. Their riding season isn't much longer than ours, all things considered. And its all relative. "Why on earth do you want to live where its cold for four months out of the year?". "Why do you want to live where its too damn hot for four months out of the year?".
  22. Bought an XDS9 last week, took it straight to the range. Love my xd9 Subcompact, and expected the same from the S. First twenty rounds I thought "oh mannnn, what have I done?". Had a sheet out hanging that has four smaller targets, about 12" each. I was aiming at the bullseye of the top left circle, and hitting the lower circle. Got it figured out, and love the red front dot. Its all good, and carries like a dream.
  23. And is it $3k, or $3.5k?? http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/4337429462.html http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/4336501645.html Having a kid, then moving to Cali, maybe?
