  1. I guess I assumed a BMV clerck or a deputy wouod not be able to tell he difference between a 2 or 4 stroke. Not exacty something that is obvious visually, especially to a non enthusiast
  2. OK, got the YZ last night. Definately glad I went w the YZ over the XT. I do have a question regarding the 2 strokes though, verses the 4 strokes. Only 2 stroke I ever owned was a moped, 25 years ago. So when riding the 225, the throttle response just doesn't seem to be there. It is definately powerful, and like ,my ZX10 will pop wheelies without even trying. But it runs like it has what I would consider carb issues. Just doesnt seem to fully "open up", boggs, etc. It did that to me when I test drove it last night, and the seller said that's part of the inherit nature of 2 strokes, and that they are really cold blooded. That once I get it out and really get on it in the trails etc it will open up and be fine. Now I havent had a chance to do that yet, but I did take it up and down my street a couple times. Never really ever felt like it was fully warmed up or that it wasnt hesitating. Just curious if the guy was feeding me some lines, or if I just haven't been patient enough yet. Assuming it does need carb work, I'm hoping it's just a matter of going through the carb with some carb dip and maybe a rebuild kit?
  3. Well jumping is something I definately want to do, so it looks like the YZ fits the bill better. Never heard the term airhead used to describe a bike. Huh? Im hoping the "you'll be doing more to it" comments doesnt translate to "you'll be working on it everytime you want to ride" like it does for the two cheap Chinese brand (Kazuma) quads I have. So sick of having to constantly having to fix something, just to ride. "Retarded fast" Isn't that an oxymoron:D Thanks for the input guys, exactly what I was looking for.
  4. Help me decide:) $1000 for the XT, or $1300 for the YZ Im not familiar w the differences between the two. All I know is I like the looks of the YZ a LOT better. (I do know one's a two stroke, and ones a 4 stroke) Being able to title and drive the XT (lights, blinkers, etc) is an added bonus. But not a huge deal. So main question is.... is the YZ a lot more of an agressive bike for dirt, as it looks? Or am I just biased? Is the XT suitable for heavy dirt riding, jumping, etfc? IT just looks linda nerdy to me. Is that becasue its not really as agressive of a dirt bike?
  5. Never would have guessed that. Ive been riding quads for about 3 or 4 years, and just bought a dirt bike this spring. (Though locked up the engine the first time we took it out) Been riding street for almost 30 years, but more now w the new zx10 than ever. I would never have thought dirt riding was more dangerous than street or track. I mean were talking 140mph on street/track. I go down doin 140 I just may not get up. Were talking idiots on a DAILY basis trying to kill me. I feel like im in a Frogger video game when Im on the street, constantly dodging todays idiot, t bones, flying cigarette butts, random dear, racoons, birds, etc. Not arguing, (especially since I am still a newb in so many ways) just curious of your reasons why
  6. Ive been looking for a place to ride dirt, but not places like Haspen Acres. Looking for something more mountainous, and not man made. I looked up Tar hollow based on your post, but I don't see anything about motorized bikes, only mountain bikes. Are motorized bikes allowed there? Anyone know of any other good riding trails? Preferrably hilly, and not man made. i.e., more nature and less circle tracks, ramps, etc.
  7. Not sure what happened w the pics
  8. Too tacky? Ive been wanting something to set the bike apart from all the rest, and from stock. Cant find a full blown decal set that is specifically cut for this generation '10. (Like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AMR-SPORT-BIKE-GRAPHICS-KAWASAKI-ZX10-ZX-NINJA-08-09-RK-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ360285345655QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories) So for now I spent a whopping $15 and figured what do I have to lose. If I dont like it I can peel them off and only be out $15. Opinions? EDIT: See pics below
  9. who's goin? I didnt make it to the S.E.D. last week. Kind of bummed, but didn't have the funds or time. So who's goin?

  14. I got my nesba # when we all went back in june. But i never actually paid anything other than the $125 or whatever for the track day. So i assume that nesba # is not the sAme as a paid membership?
  15. Its not so much the extra track time that gets my attention, as the one on one instruction for a newb like me. What makes Putnam different than Mid o or Barber as far as getting tired? (haven't been to either one) And what makes a track technical?
  16. No ones mentioned NESBA @ Putnam 7/31 & 8/1 ?? http://www.ohio-riders.com/showthread.php?p=535276#post535276
  17. July 31 and Aug 1. Surprised to not see it listed anywhere in any threads. Anyone going? Not cheap by any means. Anyone ever been and know if its worth the extra dough? Anyone planning on going?
  18. Anyone from the Dayton or Cinci area riding this holiday weekend? I don't have Monday off, so the Monday ride is out for me.
  19. Is this an open ride? If so, what day at 10:30?
