  1. I have a 180/55/17 Dunlop Q2 for sale.

It is a trackday take off with plenty of life for someone who doesn't do trackdays. No section of the tire is to the wear bars.

    Estimated remaining life is:

    Left side 70% remaining life

    Center 80% remaining life

    Right side 20% remaining life

    Price: $50 OBO

I will get a picture up when I get back in town.

  2. Ok, signed up for this. Gingerman Fri. night and both days at Grattan.

Signed up for I but have never been on either tracks. This is going to be interesting so be nice when you go by the slow guy.

I think new urinal pucks would help you go faster.  :D

I'm with Revelstoker for the Gingerattan experience!

    Lucky me.

  3. If it where me I would not do it.  Everything I have read and lived indicates that it would be illegal to run amber lights facing rearward and continuously on.

.... Front turn signal lamps have two filaments, one for the turn signal, the other for the running light.

I'm thinking it might be a good thing if I wired the running lights to either the tail light or the license plate light so they be illuminated when the bike is on.

Does anyone know if Ohio has rules about using amber instead of red for rear running lights?

Ask yourself why does the front one have two and the rear one filiment?  Like you indicate here, rear facing amber lights are for directional signaling only.

The law states that directional signals can be amber or red on the rear.

Parking lights on the rear must be red.

Stop lights (brake lights) must be red.

Combine this also with what will "confuse" another operator and that is why I wouldn't do it.  What is confusing is a judgement call of the officer and I wouldn't give him that decision to make.

  4. I ended up getting the Scala Rider G9.  So far it is awesome!  The FM tuner is really good.  VOX phone calls and receiving calls is easy. And listening to Mp3's via the phone.  Just about everything can be controlled with voice commands.  Why did I wait so long?

  5. Well I wrecked on Saturday. First motorcycle wreck ever! Stooooopid mistake. I ended up running in the fastest group in Novice with a coworker who used to do a lot of track days about 10 years ago. The pace was by far the fastest I've ever ridden and at first it was a bit beyond my skill level but I got comfortable with it after the first session or two and was having a blast by lunch time. From the pictures it looks like my body position is much better and I really improved my lines through some of my problem corners. First time I was able to get my knees down in every corner (except through the first part of the chicane)!

The session after lunch is where it all went wrong. We were doing the "leap frog" excercise when we got all out of order due to some older first timers putting around the track and a thunderstorm was just about to hit us. I was distracted and kinda blew T9, then went wide going into T10. Clipped the grass, then target fixated horribly and went right across the track and into the gravel pit. I thought I almost saved it, but the bike dug into the gravel too much and down I went. I think I went over the bars. My helmet is a bit scuffed up, I have a small tear in my suit, and my right hip is bruised, but other than that it wasn't bad. The easiest corner on the track and I managed to dick it up lol. It was still my best track day ever...

Debating what to do with my bike though, it needs about $300 in parts to fix it if I just get the whole front cowl assembly off ebay. I really want a track bike and a street bike though. Should I fix the R6 (2004, 18k miles), sell it for around $3500-4000 maybe, then buy an already built track bike or just buy some race fairings and call it a day?

sorry to hear about your wreck.  Glad your ok.

I've got an 03-05 fairing stay in the box for cheap if you interested.

  6. (just tell me to STFU if this is too thread-jacky) Is there a reason you're avoiding the prior generations?

There is a decent deal on a '90 VFR 750 in Medina.  I would take a look at it if I weren't trying to save money :-(

I guess I just like new things.

I had a Gen 4, put 35,000 miles on it.  Now I have a Gen 6 with 45,000 miles.  I have the bug for a new bike with fewer miles.  Nothing is mechanically wrong, I could ride it till the odometer rolls I guess.

  7. Last year I switched from antifreeze to Water Wetter for the first time.  I drained it for the winter to prevent any freeze damage.  This year when refilling I looked into the radiator and noticed that there was a light brown substance inside the radiator as well as on the cap.  (It wiped off of the cap easily so it must not be corrosion.)

Does anyone know what this is or if it is normal?

    Is it growing microbes?

Is there something I should add to the coolant to prevent it?

  8. No Snowden released classified information to the world, not just to the American public.  Don't you think that Al-Qaeda, North Korea, etc. are a part of the world?  Plus he has threated to release more.

Second, anyone who has held a government clearance understands that it is VERY clear what you can and cannot discuss or release to the public.  He violated those rules and should suffer the consequences of that decision.  He is not a patriot he is a criminal.

  9. Yes, wind protection.  That was a big difference that I notice going from a naked to the VFR.  Wind buffeting was bad on my naked a highway speeds and after a long highway trip I felt beat up.

^^^There is no need to remove layers if you wear mesh!  It is like riding in a Tee shirt!

    But NICE BIKE!

  10. Plan as of now is Craig and I rolling up too.  I just have to look at a few things, they just cut a lot of jobs here, and all of them in my department............  No bueno.  As of now I am in, supposed to call Craig this week to discuss.  If we come I believe we were going to bring the TH and hoped to get 1 more person from Cbus to come with to help with fuel costs etc.

I will post up after my wife and I do some discussing this week about what the future may hold for employment and finances with the kid 8 weeks out.

Are you two still planing on going?  If so I'm interested in filling the third wheel chock for you.  I had a great time at Grattan last year and would like to go again.

  11. Midwest Track Day has changed their format.  They will now be running three different groups.

Red Group is for street experienced riders and, riders with some of track experience who are looking for a moderate pace. Passing limited to straights.
White Group is for track experienced riders who are familiar with the flags, pit in/out procedures and know the track configuration. Passing on straights and on outside in turns.
Blue Group is for track day veterans and licensed racers. The pace will be fast with passing allowed in every section of the track.

Glad they changed.  This seems much safer.
