  1. i dont think they do but not forsure. is it still ok to just sign the waivers when u show up or do u have to send somthing in first, i know last year it was ok to just do it that morning

I talked to someone at Mid-O last month and they said you could sign there. I sent mine in anyway.

You would have to check their site to see if there is room left.

$195 (may be more, not sure if they do any kind of late signup fee)

    No camping at mido

Helmet, gauntlet gloves, over the ankle boots, 1 or 2 piece suit that can zip together.

The information I got was that there is camping between days but not the night before.

  2. Does anyone know how the "tech-in" works at Mid-O?

Do you tech ALL gear and bike? Helmet and bike like MS? Are there separate stations/lines for gear and bikes? Separate lines for the different groups?

    I just got a confirmation/reminder email from Mid-O, I AM READY!

  3. I am so ready! I will be on the 816 bike coaching if you need help don't hesitate to ask!!!

    Prez,

This will be my first day at Mid-O, would you give me a tow Sunday in the first intermediate session? I will look you up after I get teched in.

  4. I have ridden in the rain and cold with my Tour Master rain gear over my leathers. I stayed dry and warm. The hitch is that it cannot be orange, that color is normally reservered for CR's/coaches. I also taped over the vents in my boots to keep the water out. Nitrile or latex gloves are good under you riding gloves although the leather will still be wet.

  5. no one is riding novice both days? :( way to make me feel like an outcast!

Since grapes is no longer going anyone else want to split my garage?

Your looking at this wrong, your the only one LUCKY enough to be able to run novice both days! But seriously, from experience, you will learn a lot running back to back days. Day two everything will be fresh in your head, body position, lines and brake points will all be fresh. Not to mention a less conjested track.

  6. Let's get a count started! If I missed you or put you on the wrong date/group post up. Candybluzx6,

  7. I already paid, so I'm not on the fence about going. I am, however, on the fence about if I should change my tires if my parts even come in time... I might have to run with the '03, in which case I will have the stockers off the '10 (Dunlop Sportmax Qualifiers) and then I am not as worried about it being wet. Just wear a layer more, it will still be mid 40's.

    -Edit-

Newest weather says 20% chance, so they don't actually consider it a possibility. I'm fine with the temperature and happy if it stays just cloudy.

    All in for Saturday!

Let's edit the forecast, I prefer the optimist's view, 80% chance of dry skies! and the rain won't start til 5:30 pm!

  8. Thanks to everyone for your assements of MCRA events. I have thought about doing an event with them this year but think that I will just stay clear.

What were you assements of Putnam facilities? Is it a $180/day facility now or is it a $155/day facility that is feeling their oats after hosting a big event?

Sounds like the paddock didn't get improved. What about the restrooms, viewing options, timing tower, etc.?

The garages are new but you have to pay extra for them anyway so it is not relavent to the price increase.

  9. Dude, under 25s is A pace.

    :nono:

How many times have I read in an OR forum where a less experienced rider is flogged about the head and shoulders unmercifully about lap times vs. bump? The same should apply to an "A" bump. The rider needs to show control, ability to pass and be passed, etc. for an "A" bump. Safety for the rider and other riders in the group is #1 in reguard to bumping.

Myself and other NESBA "B" riders can turn :25 to :27 times at Putnam consistently but there is no way we are borderline for "A" in any org. We need time and experience in "I" first.

I am not directing this toward the ZX-6 rider, it sound like he has control and ability. This is strictly toward times = bump.

  10. Have empty spot on trailer if someone gets desperate, and room for at least a couple of extra people under my canopy pretty much at all times.

I also bring 3 chairs to every event, and usually roll solo.

My first trackday I showed up with no canopy, no suntan lotion, and I don't think I had a chair. I know for sure that I didn't bring a plastic knife to spread the PB&J I had brought to feed myself all weekend.

I offered my pit-neighbors a couple beers in exchange for some plastic utensils, and 5 years later, I still regularly ride and talk with 2 of those guys.

They provided shade, seating, advice, and homemade salsa. This is beyond common (okay, maybe not the homemade salsa part).

Don't show up every weekend expecting to mooch off others, but if you're just getting started, people will almost always help you out. You can pay it forward some other time.

Redkow speaks the truth. I remember my first trackday. I showed up with my bike, safety gear and a U-haul trailer. He and my other "neighbors" helped me out and I still talk to them. Great friends to have!

  11. Alright, with just a month to go till the first event of the 2012 season, was wondering how everyone's builds are going and who was planning to hit the first round.

  12. Use a bike to commute!

I do not race but love track days. I can pay for it out of gas $$$ savings. Sure it depends on how far you drive but at $4/gal the savings is significant. My savings is is about $140 a month, Cha-ching.

I made a conscience decision to commute more once gas drifted north of $2/gal (yes a long time ago). With the savings over time I figure I paid for all of my gear and track days from the gas savings. Now I am using the money to pay for my track bike payments.

  13. Sorry to derail your conversation but...

The forecast down here is for the "R" word this weekend. So be careful at Putnam, the surface is slicker than pig guts when it gets damp. If your used to the wet traction at NL and Beaver Putnam is way less. Its great fun dry though. Also, be aware that turn 4 is off camber, a lot of people don't realize that until it is too late so make sure the left side of your tires are warm before you try to rail it. Last peice of advice be careful through turn 10, it is the only place without ample run-off and the guardrail looks unforgiving.

Next, would you post back what you think of the new facilities? Putty is my closest track and I love going there. I would like to know how the improvements are and if they are worth the price spike ($155 to $180). Last time I was there the restrooms were only a little better than NL, no garages, viewing sucked and no camping. At $155 the track was a great bang for your buck. Now that it is $180 I have to reconsider Mid-O.

  14. .

oh, and bonus question: anyone know anything about prenups? it's a subject that will have to be broached eventually by myself and my fiancee in the near future.

My "prenup" consisted of one statement. "Never ask me to sell my bike."

    No joke, you may plagiarize.

  15. Ok, I just bumped to I last year but I signed up for Novice because I have never been on the track.

I assume I will be stuck in parade mode for the first two sessions and then no corner passing the rest of the day. All good, as I always learn something.

Question, do they bump up or down depending on census for the afternoon or do they have fast N groups for cusp types like myself?

Similar to Revelstoker I am trying to decide if I should ride Novice or Intermediate. I've run about 10 track days. Usually, I run Novice in NESBA (RIP for me) and am in the top 25% but have never ridden Mid-O. What I don't want is to be stuck in an all day parade like Moto Series or STT Novice groups. I also don't want to get in over my head.

Can someone breakdown how Novice and Intermediate works/rules at Mid-O? Their website doesn't provide a group breakdown.

  16. Also, Maxima's Kool-Aid is the better way to go vs Water Wetter. It is already mixed and is essentially the exact same thing.

No mess and fuss... Accepted everywhere Water Wetter is...

Do you run Moto Series? Their prep instructions are Water Wetter only. Wondering if they can tell the difference or if they care.

I like the idea of premixed, its easier if you need to top off later down the road (read at the track).
