  1. I have always worn glasses to the track and it has never been an issue. Remember to always were your glasses when choosing a new helmet. I have found some brands that I cannot were because of clearance through the temples as suggested below.

You just have to careful pressing them into place along sides of the helmet's padding and adjust them for your nose fitment which only takes seconds to do it right.

  2. Well stated Bubba.

So much of this thread is missing the big picture. We are arguing taxes, politicians, and policies while missing the point, INCOME.

I doubt that there are any 1%'ers or even 5%'ers on this forum, because the would not be associated with us vagrants. Yet still we argue and defend them???

This video was eye opening. I knew it was bad but was under the "think" model. Until we stop believing what super pacts like Americans for Prosperity tell us (they devide and conquer us), realize that we are all in the middle, and start acting in a common interest (that is democracy) it will get worse until it colapses.

  3. I bought the Latigo about a year ago to replace my two piece leather and I like it. I've worn it to about six track days and the suit is holding up fine. I have not given it an "abrasion test" knock on wood.

The quality seems to be descent, double and triple stitching, logos are stitched not glued like the gloves above. My only complaint is that the limbs run long on me, I'm 5'6" and 160 wearing a size M(42).

I think for the average track day rider and even beginning racer, fine choice and will be OK in buying one. Basically, at that price point, you have very few choices...

That describes me a track dayer that had to try it for that price. I feel like I got the bang for my buck.

yeah 5'7" and a little over 200lbs here. The nylon in the latigo and the lack of a liner is a definite minus, but for the price its hard to ignore.

??? My Latigo has a mesh nylon inner liner and the site lists it in the features. Maybe you are talking about something different?

  4. Okay my OR brothern, I have a minor issue. I left my wallet in my car that my wife has at work right now in Lorain and I'm at work in Beachwood. I have a 5:30 work-out session. My problem is that mighty pit bike in on the back of the Chateaux de Canvas which is at the dealer waiting for me to pick it up.

Problem: workout is done at 6:30 and the dealer closes at 6:00. My initial solution until I discovered the missing wallet was to skip outta work at 3:00, grab the trailer and bike, go workout and then go home, eat, shower and leave.

So my plans went to $hit as I was going to leave tonight, stay at the in-laws in Springfield and then stroll into the hotel around 3:00pm tomorrow afternoon. So now instead I have to get the trailer tomorrow, move the pit bike and pit bike carrier from the trailer to the van and then go to the hotel. Thus driving 6 hours instead of just 3 tomorrow.

To boot, I lost my necklace that I got from my parents 22 years ago for my birthday. This is a real pisser of a day for me.

The only good part, looking at my trainer (female) that makes my workouts seem enjoyable.

As a side note, down 40lbs since working out! 50lbs to go.

    Marty,

Sorry to hear about all these problems, hope it all turned out ok for you.

I've got a big one of my own. My plight from Philadelphia was delayed, delayed, delayed then cancelled last night. They actually broke the plane with us in the cabin. Cabin pressure went up, up, up then the pilot stormed out of the cockpit, threw open the cabin door, jumped out of the plane and started ripping his shirt out of his pants and yelling at the ground crew. I would have been hilarious at 5:44 PM (our original departure time) but sice it was 10:30 I knew we were done for. :monkey: Also wish I had videoed it but of course all portable hand held devices were powered down.

    So.....

Here I am, still at PHL while I should be riding at the track. My flight won't leave until 4:45 and arrives at CMH around 6 PM. Then I drive from CMH to Cincy.

    I HATE US AIRWAYS!!!

Hope you guys are having a great time none the less, just wish I were there.

  5. nope....hell don't even say its performance. Suggest to them you are taking an advanced instructional riding course on a closed private track

Second this but use location or course in lieu of track. Moto Series gives out certificates at the end of a Novice day that help you in such a situation. The wording gears it toward skills enhancement.

Think about this for a minute, hypothetically... lets say you can get collision AND trackday coverage for an extra $500/yr with a $1000 deductible.

    vs.

    Nothing.

Unless your last name is Rossi, DiSalvo, Hayden, or Stoner, you'll likely keep it upright and have fun at the track. So, the cashflows breakdown as follows if you GET insurance.

    Y1: -$500 vs. $0

    Y2: -$500 vs. $0

    Y3: -$500 vs. $0

Now, let's say you lowside at the top of the keyhole at MidO in Y4. Plastics and new controls run you $2500 from the OE.

Y4: -$1500 + $2500 vs. $-2500 but all added up, you've already "donated" $1500 to the insurance the prior years, so all in all, you're still $-500 in the hole with insurance using that hypothetical situation.

Your missing a HUGE consideration, what if you get hurt and go to the hospital? IMO, insurance is the way to go.

My State Farm agent says they will cover my street bike as long as I'm not racing.

As far as my just track bike, they won't insure it !

Second this, I know two people that wrecked on the track and totaled the bikes. State Farm paid the bills except for deductables and leathers. One went to the ER and had to have surgery, all covered.

As far as a track bike, keep it registered and plates current (although not on the bike) and they won't know the difference.

  6. Is anyone else planning on attending? Post up if you are!

  7. Wow, people are dicks! Had a friend on FB bitching about all the motorcycles going around her and passing on a solid line on Sunday so I asked why she was so mad at them for having fun? She said because cars can not do that so you shouldn't either! Who puts this logic in peoples heads? Why would me passing you have ANY effect on you unless I crashed into you or something? I then explained how a car takes probably 10 seconds to pass someone(not saying you can't do it a bit faster) and a bike can do it in 2 which makes it perfectly safe to pass on a yellow line if you can see whats ahead of you. I assume these are the same people who think all guns will be used to kill people(but lets not change the topic to this).

Maybe her response should have been, "because it is illegal."

I wounder how that 2 second vesus 10 second logic would work for you with Johnny Law.

  8. Well... clearly' date=' you are in the minority. If you weren't, the market would adjust its behavior. I suggest you hit the bong and try to relax.[/quote']

Maybe I am the minority but the power of social media is amazing. Many businesses have and will continue to change the way they do business if it means more $$$ and satisfied customers. That my friend is the true reason for this post. I do not accept the status quo as the best answer.

Or maybe I'm a grouchy old man. :D

You could always do more commuting on the track bike and more tracking on the commuter bike to alleviate your scheduling issues.

I like the way you find solutions! Problem is the trackbike is not street legal and the VFR is too expensive to fix if something goes wrong.

  9. Does anyone else see a problem with motorcycle service departments and the fact that they do not schedule appointments? It frustrates me that when I need service performed the service department expects me to drop off my bike and accept that they will get to it when they get to it usually quoting a one to two week turn around based on the season. Now compare that to “cage” maintenance, a service department might say, “I can get you in next Wednesday, drop it off Tuesday night or Wednesday morning and we will call you when it is done.” (Heck, mine will even shuttle me to work.)

It appears to me that bike shops do not have any type of scheduling software. Sure software costs money and dealerships are in a struggle to survive but how hard would it be to create a simple excel to see who is doing what and when so that customers can be serviced better? (Excel even has a template that could be used.) Sure, build in extra time for oil changes and tire changes or hire a low level tech for this low hanging fruit. This can be done.

I am a daily commuter so I dislike being asked to leave my bike in the shop to collect dust for a week since I lose $40 a week to the gas man when I have to drive the cage. I would be much happier dropping my bike off the night before and picking it up in the evening after service. I realize that some of us only ride on the weekends and this scenario is ok with them but come on service managers!

I do most of my own maintenance so this is fueled by the fact that I needed to have my valve clearances checked and adjusted (that will be a different thread). While I was there I talked to the service manager about this situation and he really didn’t see a problem or care. I brought up the fact that society views our motorcycles as toys and not as transportation. His response was, “Well they are.” I was shocked to hear that from a guy who pays his mortgage based on this business. My response is that I commute 12,000 miles a year on my bike and 3,000 miles per year in my cage, which is the toy?

Does anyone else feel my frustration?

If yes, why do we accept this level of service?

Does anyone know of a metric bike shop in Cincy that meets my need for a scheduled time?

  10. there is an article by him in Motorcyclist each month, and IIRC this month, he talks about this exact thing. I'll take a look when I get home and try to post the article.

    Did you find the article?

I've heard many different reasons why there is an increased comfort turning one direction or the other some of which are expressed here. I wonder what a Pro says about it.

Ask your self this question, "Do I do donuts CW (right) or CCW (left)?" :dunno:

  11. I'm out. I like Putnam but one day a month is all Momma allows but I'm not complaining she already signed off on me riding Mid-O on Mother's Day AND our anniversary weekend later in the year. I'll be hitting Putty with STT and MS later this year.

Revel, you need to save your money and split costs with me to Grattan next month! :)

  12. Did anyone expect the free T-shirt? I didn't expect that and have a theory as to why they were giving them out. When I got home and looked in the mirror I realized that the logo was wrong, two black flags and no yellow.

  13. Good weekend and met a few guys from OR.

Now, I just wish there was another public weekend track day at Mid-Ohio, non-twilight.

I had heard good things about the track and it didn't disappoint. I am glad I rolled out in Novice as it took a while to learn the track. Lots of areas to improve but I will have to wait until next year for this date to roll back around.

    ^^^ Ditto #1, 2, 3 and 4.

It was great meeting Brandon, Alan, Mike, Tim, Todd, Coach Steve and Coach #19. Hope to see you at tracks in the future.

Thanks to everyone that helped me with my lines.

  14. 5 page waiver that reads like it is more for driving their cars or riding one of the former KTM bikes.

Really, any lawyers out there that read this thing as much of it doesn't seem to apply for a track days.

Do we really have to bring titles:

During certain Events, Participant may be permitted to use a Participant-owned and/or supplied vehicle ("Participant Vehicle") and The Mid-Ohio School may permit other participants to use vehicles they supply and/or own ("Third Party Vehicles"). Participant agrees that prior to operation of a Participant Vehicle at The Mid-Ohio School, in any Event and/or in the Restricted Area, Participant shall provide The Mid-Ohio School evidence of the following:

    (a) Participant’s ownership of the Participant Vehicle (such evidence shall include producing title and registration of such Participant Vehicle).

Go back to the confirmation email that you receive right after registering. That email will have a 7 page PDF attached with a track map and directions to the track. In that document their is a one page waiver. That waiver doesn't have the car and credit card junk in it.
