  1. I'll get some pics up. Yeah, I've seen that JW-2000, thats not my gun. Mine is at least 70 years old by my guess.
  2. I recently inherited a shotgun that was my grandfather's. The gun is a double barrel 12 Ga. side by side with exposed hammers. From what I can tell from the stampings on the gun it was manufactured by the International-Arms Company. I have not been able to find any information on this company. The only other stamping on the gun (besides decorative markings) is "Belgian Laminated Steel" which is on the top of the gun, between the barrels. I need help with history of International-Arms and this gun. Also, a ballpark figure of what is it worth. (I understand this relies on condition.) Last, would it still be safe to shoot with today's loads?
  3. My guess it is a remnant from 2002. This idea has been around for some time. Additionally, it seems the sketch is not complete. The course appears to be designed to run a north track and a south track independently. However, there is only one pit lane.
  4. Your need to get a VFR. For just a few dollars more it comes equipped with a baby seat. SEE!!!
  5. Looking for a new track day friend that is. I tried this “track day” thing about three years ago and was instantly addicted. I’ve been doing track days the last couple years and enjoying the heck out of it. Tragedy struck last year when my track buddy crashed a got hurt bad enough that he will not be able to ride for quite some time. I don’t like to go to the track by myself because you never know what might happen just like this. I’m planning to do 4-6 days with various groups and at various tracks. Any track within four hours of Cincy is game and ones that are further out are possible with a traveling friend. I have acquired all of the basic gear for doing track days; tow vehicle, trailer for two bikes with chocks, canopy, etc. Now I need a travelling friend that can get me home if something goes Arai. Are there any addicts from Cincinnati that are interested?
  6. I have vacation days on August 12 and 19. I may be able to swing a long weekend. Do you have any plans for rides, lodging, etc.? Fridays and Mondays are pretty good days to ride the dragon, Saturdays and Sundays get more congested (and LEO's). I recommend rolling out on Thurday night and riding the dragon on Friday then exploring the other awesome roads on Sat. and Sun. Do you know if they ever got 129 repaired from the rockslide? I hope they have fixed it by now!
  7. There is also a small privately owned camp ground about a mile north of I-70. I think it is called Cloverdale Park. Inexpensive and closer to Putnam that the State Park. Its low on frills but all I need is a place to sleep and shower.
  8. I had a couple of front tires cup on me near the end of their life, its not uncommon. IMO you front pressure is a hair low. I was running 35 on these tires. As here, I found there are a lot of opinions as to what pressure to run so I consulted a bike shop. The tire guy told me for highway riding and storage the pressures should be close to 40. (Of course if your getting into twisties or a track day you will what to lower the pressures.) So now I run 40, 40 and did not cup my last front or my current front which will need replaced before summer ends.
  9. Does anyone know the young kid that was running the 2-stroke in the instructional group?
  10. Yes, that is how he said it happened. His group was passing and the slower group moved out to set up for the kink and he got pushed off the track. He did not break his collar bone (that would have been better). His shoulder socket blew out. He had surgery Sunday morning and he is at home resting now.
  11. I've ridden Skyline and south where it becomes the Blueridge Parkway. Skyline was beautiful but very congested the day that I was there. In context, I wanted to enjoy the twisties as much as the scenic views and traffic prevented that. Down on the Blueridge there is no fee to ride and the views are just as breath taking. Same things apply as above, plan ahead for gas, food and lodging. I rode all day and I never got into an issue with any of the above just by using common sense, don't start a ride on a quarter tank, if you stop for food top off. As you get further south, toward Cherokee, the road tightens up but is not an issue for beginners at the posted speed limit. It does become more interesting as you aproach 70MPH!
  12. I just signed up for 7/16 at Nelson Ledges. Are there any other OR's that plan on being there?
  13. Wow, that was a long drive home after 2 days in the sun. I had a great time meeting you Rob, Ryan and Dan. Thanks to everyone that restaked my canopy while I was out on the track. Thanks Walt for towing me a round the track and timing my laps. Last of all congratulations to Chris for the A bump!
  14. Rolling out of Cincy, stopping at IP and on to Pittsburgh. See you there!
  15. Since I'm riding Saturday and attendance will be low (VIR) I'll park like I'm from Parma to claim some extra space. Look for me on the track side of the paddock. Black R6 #28.
  16. I only rode with moto Series once. I mostly ride with NESBA. NESBA take a deeper look at the bike and you have to tech all of your gear (boots, gloves, helmet, leathers and back protector if not novice). They have a member guide on their website. http://www.nesba.com/Info/Typical.htm Never rode with STT. Is anyone besides me and rslocum riding B group? Riders look pretty balanced right now. The track is good for viewing with the pits on a hill overlooking the track. This allows you to see more of the track and is better than other tracks I have been to.
  17. Yes I am in the novice group. I have a Cortech Latigo 1 peice, definitely not a CE back pad. I see the ones you sent are much wider than the one I am considering. Is that something you recommend? Also they are all articulated. I imagine that provides more comfort and flexibility. Why else to you recommend them? Is the AXO no good?
  18. I've done a few track days using the suits back protector. Now I am looking to buy a CE protector. What should I look for in features? How long and wide should it be? I found this one on closeout, is it worth the money? http://www.ironpony.com/ironponydirect/product.asp/ImageName/AXO-10-BACK-PROTECTOR.jpg/Brand/AXO/Class2/Protective%20Gear/Class3/Armor/Class1/ Any advice and experiences are appreciated.
  19. I've booked both days and will be there with my family. Look me up, I'll be the guy with the BEAUTIFUL black and gold utility trailer! (Can't miss it) and a black R6. If all goes as planned I will be parked between Redkow and Wheeler:stirpot: Look like it will be HOT!
  20. Doh! Where were 4 months ago? This is exactly what I was looking for, right size, right color. Bought a suit already.
  21. For Sale: Joe Rocket Ballistic 5.0 textile jacket Size: Large Price: $100 obo This jacket is used but with no visible damage. It is great jacket with a huge temperature range. By removing the liner and opening the vents and I have used the jacket on all but the hottest days with no problems. Insert the liner and close the vents and I can ride down to 32 degrees. Great jacket, I just need the money PM with an offer, reasonable offer will be accepted. · Rock Tex™ 600 outer shell · Waterproof · Removable armor in shoulders and elbows · Removable spine pad with pocket for optional C.E. spine protector · Adjustable ventilation system · Removable insulated full sleeve liner · Adjustable waistband · Elastic sleeve adjusters · 8" zipper for pant attachment · Reflective piping and badges for safety · Lots of pockets! · Rear pocket is large enough to hold 2 - 20oz. drinks · Decorative pins not included
  22. Raingear is the only waterproof that I have found. I don't like the Frogg Toggs due to the color selections. Unless they have changed they only offer muted color tones because they started as outdoor gear and made a crossover to motorcycling. When I rains the road spray grays everything out and that is bad for our safety. I ride in the rain a lot and will only go with yellow or orange even if it costs a bit more.

    squid?

^^^^Me too. It takes me longer to buckle my helmet than to run the two full length zippers. I work in an office also so helmet hair is more of am issue than the pants making me look unprofessional.
