Ok, mostly anything. If I were racing cars or motorcycles for a job then hell yes I would do that, but if most of my time was spent fixing them, and for other people on top of that, I don't think I would enjoy cars and bike nearly as much.

Exactly, which is why I dont use PC anymore. I fix/deal with them all day and thats the LAST thing I want to do when I get home. I imagine the same would go for anything.

Thanks guys for the help! I figured it out. The issue was a combination of cumulative permissions and cached credentials on my test machines. Started testing by choosing the "Map with different credentials" every time so I knew exactly who was being used to map the drive. Also, I may not have been waiting long enough for the DC to replicate new AD settings to the second DC which was giving conflicting user rights when playing with Active Directory then immediately testing. Again, thanks for all the help guys!

I started out my college career as a computer engineer, but wasn't motivated enough to take all the high level math and physics and ended up in IT. Similar field except instead of creating new hardware/software you implement and maintain it. They say the average college student changes their mind/major 3-4 times in their college career and I changed mine 4 times lol. So its nice to have an idea of what you want to do but don't count on that being the same thing 4 years from now.

But the thing is, I am creating a new user and placing them in the ITadmins group, the ONLY group on the share, everyone else is a single user. This new user however does not have access, BUT if I copy a member of the same group, the new user then has the correct permissions but is also automatically a member of 15 or so groups as a result of the copy. Removing this new user from the ITadmins group after the copy however does not remove their permissions and I can still access the drive with this account after taking them out of ITadmins.

Multiple machines, I have 2 vms and 2 physical machines I have been testing on. I am able to map and access drives on any problem machine by doing the "Connect as another user" option and using my actual admin account. Yes, existing users and groups work, I can get to the drive with my actual admin account since it is a part of a group who had existing permission on the share, but I just tested adding my test admin account to the ITadmins group and still a no go. Its possible when my account was created it was just a copy of an existing admins account which could be why my account works but this test admin does not. EDIT: I just confirmed my last thought, will need to dig deeper into what permissions are set for myself, and existing users on the share drive since it appears copying my own profile results in view abilities while creating a new user in the exact same group does not allow me to view the files on the share.

Yes, I have checked the effective permissions and it shows the group I am trying to add has the appropriate rights, which is pretty much everything minus full control. There are only 2 people who need temporary access to the share so thats why I was doing individuals. But groups dont seem to work either. I am doing everything in the Security tab, also tried going to the Sharing tab and Advanced Sharing and added the group their as well. Yes, Start Run \\Servername does result in all the shares on the server INCLUDING the drive I need, but when I click on it I get access denied, almost every other share listed is accessible though. Also, forgot to add that I have tried adding Authenticated users AND Everyone, giving each one full control and I was still unable to connect as my test admin account. Something must be going on if Everyone does not give access. UAC is off on the server also.

So an update on this position. After trying to get something on paper for over a month with the guy at the dealership, I found a job at an architecture and design firm in Cleveland. I am basically the jack of all trades for this smallish (around 90 employees) firm so I maintain their 15 virtual servers which runs on 3 physical machines, 100ish laptops and cell phones, and a number of network printers, plotters, scanners etc. So far I have been working there for a week and have been getting comfortable with their infrastructure and daily tasks and it has gone pretty well. It is going to be a lot of work at times since I am the only IT guy on premise and the 2 people I would escalate issues to work in Columbus and only come up 2 days a month. Well I have run into an issue I have was working on all day Friday which is when mapping a specific drive from a file server to a users computer, I can map the drive but then get an "W:\ drive not accessible. Access denied please contact your administrator" error. I have tried the following... -Tried mapping with UNC and IP address. -Remove the user from the sharing permissions and re-added them. -Created a new group in AD and added the users to the group, then the group to the shared folder permissions. -Took ownership of the folder. -Gave FULL ACCESS permissions to the group. -Gave FULL ACCESS permissions to the individual users. -Ensured "Simple File Sharing" was off. The whole time I have been testing with a generic DOMAIN\Administrator account which I am using as the test user so I don't lock myself out of my own Admin account. As far as I know, all existing users can access the drive, its just new users who have issues. And it WILL map the drive, but when you try to open it you get the error. Will also map other drives that are located on the same share and even the same HD disk so I know they have access to the disk it self, but not the specific folder on the drive. My next step is to add my generic admin account to the existing IT Support AD group which SHOULD have access since my real admin account, which was only added a week ago, does. Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this issue? The machines are Win7, the file server is Server 2008. If they have SCCM, would that change how I give out permissions? I have never worked with SCCM before and I just did a remote session on the DC to find a bunch of groups with SCCM in the name. A quick google search shows its management software but like I said, I have never used it before. This has just been rolling through my brain the past couple days so if anyone is bored on this Christmas Eve, let me know your ideas. THANKS!

Its like the movie 23(or is it 27? I don't remember), the guy thinks this number follows him everywhere and he does math to derive the number 23 out of practically anything. If you think or look hard enough, you can probably find 10 times this shit everyday. But you don't have the news for everything that went on in the world so you normally don't see these coincidences.

Because they are .22's, a step above a pellet rifle.

Well I am not sure what they had left, but I we were chatting with a guy who was buying one as we were looking at pistols around 6:30. We were at the Lorain store.

Hey now, lets not get carried away, to be fair we would need to compare it with a G19 or something.

I have somewhat long fingers so on the Glock I use right between the first and second digit, on the XD I use the middle of the second digit. Where do you line up the sight on a Glock? I put the front dot right down in the middle of the back sight so its flush with the top of the box, I have always been taught to shoot like that, but raising it up so the dot is half in the box, half out helps. I always revert back to the first way though just out of habit and screw myself up.

Do none of you have local gun shops? I was just at B&T Shooting today and they weren't even thinking twice about selling them. Best bet is to try local shops probably, not corporate retailers.

Went to the range with The Azn and these were my results with my G26 and XD45. The top right is the only one I shot with the G26 since I was letting Tim try it, but I damn near missed the black part entirely! The bottom left was with the XD45 from the same distance and I was thoroughly impressed! My first time shooting it and it was pretty much entirely in the center the entire time and had a lot less kick than I thought a .45 would. I would say the top right and bottom left were about 20', the bottom right was about 30', and the top left was me seeing how far I could push the target out before my accuracy went down so from 20' to probably 40' or so. It would make sense that the 45 would be more accurate with the longer barrel for both my eye and the bullet to aim down, but the Glock does need sighted. And since I am going to get it sighted I might as well get some nicer and easier to use sights. What would be a good set to go with? And this was just because I hit the bullseye on the first try with the XD and was shocked since it was my first time shooting it. That pretty much made me stop debating about trading it in haha!

Love this video, his other stuff is good too.

I work 9-5 again so any day after work would be fine with me, just let me know so I can remember to grab the guns before work.

Stonewall and B&T Shooting are 2 I know of off the top of my head close to us.

Just buy the ammo and you can shoot it all you want! Hell, I may go to the range with you to shoot my XD45 which I bought months ago and have not yet shot haha.

Gen 4 has ambidextrous mag release, different texturing on the grip, changeable backstraps and 3 mags instead of 2. The gen 3 fit perfect in my hand so I didnt really care for the added backstrap options of the 4.

Make sure you get the pinky extension and a Vanguard holster!
