  1. Happy Thanksgiving to all, and to all a full belly!
  2. :welcome: And I don't believe yinz is geographically congruent with your area -- I've heard it many a time from folk in the south ( and from Sidney Ohio )
  3. Damn, that's one tasty track weapon.........I'd sooo love to have it -- and it's laying down the same power as my fat, flyin' couch........but over a hundred pounds lighter! Ok, I'll wipe up the puddles on my way out -- glws!
  4. If you can't find any pinched section of the starter circuit harness, or faulty connection then I'd look into the switch being the culprit? Seems you've already been through the major players within the starting circuit, but there HAS to be something else involved or a component that's been overlooked -- did the dealer truly TEST the relay and/or rectifier? Have you tried the relay from another bike that does start fine to ensure it's definitely not the problem? Had a Yamaha that was acting up like this and I tried everything, even pulled the starter apart to clean the brushes -- but ended up being a ground cable pinched between the engine mount and frame from a hack shop doing trans. work on it......it got damn hot too, so I was lucky enough to just follow the smoke trail to where it was shorting out

Here's a link to the whole story..... http://www.brocksperformance.com/brocknm/templates/bpp1.aspx?articleid=256&zoneid=10

    2012 zx14r

Roaring Toyz and Brocks Performance got together and did some testing on the track, and on the dyno.......short story is they used last years exhaust system ( believe it was a shortmeg or alienhead system ) and slapped on a ZX10's PC for some basic mapping -- with a stock motor and wheelbase.......Ricky Gadson ended up running 8.99 with power/torque range hitting about 205HP @ 125lb.ft. Impressive numbers for a basic slap-n-go exhaust setup -- can't wait to see what this thing will do with proper tuning, stretching, and a system that's actually designed for this engine. Nice to see Kaw stepping up a little on power and asthetics for the 2012 model, but there's always plenty of room for improvement......as usual So, who's buying one??
  7. I hate riding at night, street or trail - limited vision just sucks the life out of riding imo, and it always seems the front of my bike ends up repainted in multi-color pearlescent insect fodder.......no fun for me - THE best headlight available is sunlight
  8. It's been a week, anyone help you out yet? This one is cheap and in stock to set you up for good, but not sure about the quality http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004NV21YA/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/178-1913355-9838800
  9. Some of you mention starting the bike now and then throughout the winter, where I've been told otherwise - if you store the bike in an unheated garage and warm it up occasionally, that would surely encourage condensation within the engin......Afterall, your bringing the engine up to temp (you'll see sweat on the cases while its heating up) and then again after shutdown and it reaches that same temp when cooling - thats not a good idea imo, inviting moisture in isnt what storage is about.......if the engine stays below dewpoint, there's far less water to burn off at initial startup in the Spring - not condemning anyone's routine, just what I've heard and read.....and my logic seems to concur:)
  10. What these guys said......full system is soooo worth the extra $$, and its up to you on tuning it yourself or having it dyno'd/mapped by a pro - a lot of exhaust companies will have a map for your make/model/year when you buy their system, BUT if you question your mechanical skill level, take it into a shop for a proper dyno tune - its really the best way to get every ounce of performance for your money - good luck and happy shopping!
  11. Seen a youtube vid on a custom ZX10 supercharger build - cant remember the end results for HP/Torque, but it sounded sweeeet. Also, even though HP helps make the bikes run faster - aero is a major player in applying that power, right? I got plans to improve my power to ground ratio a bit but nothing overboard - I need to work on my body position and getting a good launch, through all the gears clean, and staying tucked tight as I can. I read on Brocks forum that it takes (on avg) 12hp to push a bikes mirrors down the dragstrip. So multiply that distance by 4 and see what a bad tuck does to your run......
  12. Mine has iridiums in it, and never had an issue with the Lucas additive - but never used Stabil in anything......the other is sold at work and I get awesome deals there;)
  13. I 2nd that! I work wth class 8 trucks, and their parts quality is expectantly between aircraft quality and car parts quality........weird how you actually get what you pay for when it comes to quality:dunno:
  14. You're just a bottle of stabilizer away from saving yourself quite a bit of work man, I run Lucas fuel additive a tank or 2 before the season ends for a bit of top-cylinder lube and it cleans/stabilizes the fuel and fuel system all winter too - My simple way to prep before winter is to perform a last ride oil change, take a ride with a tank fill on my way home - as soon as I get back I drop additve in the tank and let it idle through the system while I put chainwax on the chain since its still warm, shut down the bike and put it up on stands, then hook the batt tender up - done. Then when the first rideworthy day breaks in spring, all that needs done is unplug the tender, pull the stands and check tire pressure......ride
  15. Nasty.......rubbing a greasy meat byproduct on skin? THAT sounds hygenic:D
  16. Me too, sweet stuff to see - there's a guy on YouTube that drifts a whole racecourse, white bike and leathers and looked like a blast - these guys have serious "controls" talent *blast meaning fun, not a Buell:-P*
  17. Relavent to the site or not, shots like that awesomely inspire life itself.......beautiful footage!
  18. ^^^This right here is exactly how my chains live -- 2 best combinations I've EVER found
  19. I'm thinking clutch pack too.......with the mileage and you saying the problem was gradually worsening, that would be my best guess.......if it's a hydro clutch, may want to flush / fill / bleed that system to ensure it's not a problem either. Depends on your plans for the bike as to what clutch pack I'd install, but for street use I'd go OEM -- unsure as to Honda's OEM durability, but if you've got 50k out of the 1st one........I'd stick with what works!
  20. Up to you on Joe's or Vista -- my last bike ( like Snot said above ) was taken to Joe's for trans work ( bent shift fork, kept jumping out of gear or binding between 1st/2nd ) and it's just something I wasn't even going to consider doing myself at home and rather had some warranty with all the labor and parts that were going into the job anyway. For just valvetrain work, they may be a good source as they're a Yamaha dealer but for big jobs where the engine's coming out and getting split open - they pretty much suck in my honest opinion.......they had my bike for months and couldn't get a straight answer until I went down there and physically stood in front the faggot that lied to me several times - he was very apologetic ( of course ) and said they were "planning" on starting the work soon but being such a big job they wanted to make sure the tech doing the work could stay on it until it was done, which I understand.......but all in all, pisspoor planning on their part especially when I was originally told that the job would take a few weeks once all the parts were in -- Well, the parts had been in for a couple months so yet another lie.......I work for a dealership and understand things can get busy and out of their control occasionally, but ultimately; the key to good business is staying in contact with the customer and keep them informed on the progress, or lack thereof - but to have a bike sit with a dusty box of parts on it for months and no attempt to contact me about anything is absolutely ridiculous -- I yanked the bike out of there, but did commit to buying the parts and had another shop do the work. I bought my ZX14 from a guy who ordered it through Vista Kaw and he said they do good work there as well as fair pricing, so might be worth a look?? My opinion of Joe's is kind of biased against them simply because of the way I was treated, and the way they did business with me........but mine was a completely different scenario, so they may actually be a good place to deal with for most anyone else. Good luck man!
