  1. +1 my thoughts exaxtly A well trained sniper won't take that shot with either because it's not gonna be a clean kill. Remember the ethics part you all keep preaching about?
  2. +1 on shit road conditions and traction. But I actually feel like people notice a bike more mid winter than in summer. They always take a double take when it 35° and a bike is coming like they saw a unicorn or leprechaun, or a leprechaun riding a unicorn.
  3. Since you edited it, I'll elaborate. I'm not saying the 38 has more power. I'm saying accuracy matters. And when he posted, I though he ment sniper with a 38 or John Doe (see what I did there?) with a 12g. I'll take the Sniper cuz he gonna ensure a kill while John Doe might not hit the broad side of a barn. I rather the sniper do one shot, one kill than John Doe wing me 3 times before he has to reload his plugged 12g and finish me off.
  4. I used one of those orange driveway markers to plug the GF Mossburg 510. Worked perfect.
  5. Straight answer. Sniper with either, won't matter. A well trained sniper is gonna know the effective range and ballistics of any round his is working with and do the job with incredible accuracy. Once again, the accuracy wins. 12g or 38 to the brain is dead faster that you can imagine it happening......
  6. Sniper with 38.... He is gonna hit important parts every time. Once again, accuracy counts......
  7. You can give the drunk hillbilly a 50 bmg. If he can't hit me, it doesn't matter!!! Let the grandma with the 38 spl do the job. At least she is accurate. Thanks for proving my point btw.....
  8. Hey, I'm in the same boat and stuck at work til 6 am. Lol! I have all night to argue my point.
  9. And if you are gonna do the drunken one eyed hillbilly scenario, you know he is gonna have the biggest caliber he can get his hands on, cuz that's the drunken redneck way......
  10. Man, that sarcasm quote of yours is failing more and more......
  11. In all honesty, I hate Ohio gun season anyway. I've had idiots unloading shotgun the next field over from the road in my direction. Had one guy basically trip over me sitting on a log in a treeline as he tresspassed. The number of idiots out hunting is staggering. I much rather bow hunt. And honestly, how many people do you think will hunt up a 38 spl rifle and plug it to 3 rounds? Hell, I can't even say I've ever seen a 38 spl rifle in person. The likelihood of one being used is slim. Most people don't even hunt with pistols at all. This just gives more options to the dad that has a small child that he wants to teach firearms and hunting. You know everyone is gonna step up if they can.
  12. Like it was said before, first person to volunteer to take a 38 spl to the chest at 50 yds and tell me after its not enough to take a deer, I'll believe. .....
  13. I don't hunt humans either. I'm using a size comparison. Military uses .223 to hunt humans and people consistently say it's not enough to take a deer. I'll prove ya wrong on that over and over again. Being accurate is as important as caliber.
  14. Actually you're kinda right, it is about the new hunter's experience. It's about teaching them to select the proper firearm that fits them, that they can properly manipulate and shoot accurately, and know what kind of effective range it has. Teach them to properly and effectively harvest an animal. That's why Ohio set up the new hunter apprentice program. To me you sound like the stuck up snob that think you should only shoot the biggest and baddest caliber around.
  15. http://youtu.be/jEG6im_0GFk Maybe Tapatalk won't let me link the video. EDIT: guess it does, don't know why it didn't the first time.
  16. Since we obviously missed the "a small person with a large caliber doesn't work well" reference (I thought the video would make the connection), I'll let you swap GF for nephew, because I have 7 of them that I'm sure will all hunt. So I should just throw my nephew on a 12g and say go for it? Or should I teach him with the .410 and let him build up to the 20 and 12g? EDIT: guess the video didn't post......
  17. I hear ya Joe Biden..... "Buy a double barrel 12g shotgun" Lol
  18. Man, you guys are starting to sound the 45 ACP crowd..... you can't CCW anything smaller. It's like tossing stones.....
  19. So now .410 is inadequate..... LMFAO!!!! Actually we did hunt smaller game with her .410 and .22. And that magically made her weight more than 100 lbs and 5 ft tall. We'll be back out turkey hunting next week. Ask her how upset she was about the turkey we let walk at 50 yds last year because she had the .410.......
  20. And that's prolly what will happen with my nephew. Start on the 410 and move up as he grows. Teach the right the first time around.
