  1. I was just reading thru the Novice track day on MotoSports Site. It says Do you think I will be alright or should I start with the Instructional Group? I don't really wanna wait any longer to do a track day.
  2. Well dang. Didn't see this when I looked thru my phone and made my thread. If I can get the bike around this week, I'm gonna try to make this happen. Would be my first trackday.
  3. Keep the TL..... My bro regrets selling it every time he hears my SV coming.
  4. Who's heading out in a week? Or where are you going? Debating where to go for my first trackday. That is if I can get the bike around in time.
  5. My friend has Woodcraft bits on his 06 600. Look good and well built. I'd at least look there to start. Also Gixxer.com has tons of info, fair warning, they can rough group, but all in good fun. Went to Indy MotoGP the last 4 yrs on their group buy.
  6. SV isn't gonna change the fact. I've been on a unrestricted TL with full exhaust, PC3, etc. It had the same hiccup, just a little more pronounced with it not having secondary butterflies. The TL felt more race, and that's what it was built more towards than the SV. A tune makes a world of difference. After 5 years and 40,000 miles, I gained 3 hp from stock (what Suzuki claims) and if I remember right, like 8 from my first pull. Nothing really to brag about, but it runs SO MUCH better than before. Better than ever.
  7. I could still just go up town and do that, but I'm lazy and should be sleeping for work tonight
  8. What kind of old deserted building? I could walk outside and take that pic if your talking old barns.
  9. Mine wasn't stock long enough for me to remember. Less that 1000 miles and it had the PC3 and full M4 exhaust. The TRE definitely helped with the hiccup, didn't happen nearly as much. After the tune, it was pretty much gone. It has only happened a couple times since then, only when its 100+ degrees outside, in town, and the engine toasting at 200+ from stop and go traffic. Even with my tank risers to help get some fresh air in and hot air out at my airbox opening, I know its running rich sucking in that heat off the motor. Ram air on the TL prolly helps combat that a bit though.
  10. My hiccup was rich. Could happen both ways. A good TB sync will also do wonders for it. Plus a TRE if it hasn't be already done.
  11. Seriously, tune it. I had my SV tuned by Ryan at Schnitz Racing. Great guy, spent almost 5 hours tuning it, with it being on the dyno 4 different times with me taking it on test rides in between pulls. He made sure it was where I wanted it before I left his shop. Best $250 I have ever spent. I've owned this bike since new and now with 40,000 miles on it, it's smoother than ever. Even with the PC3 map for my full M4 exhaust, it was WAY off on the A/F ratio.
  12. Are the fuel lines old? I had this problem with my boat. Old fuel lines were collapsing on WOT. Buddy is having the exact same problem you are with his GSX.
  13. That pretty much sums up my experience too. There were a few more sport bikes on my run, I was 1 of 2 people with a helmet, and the stupidity level was much higher. After about 3 bars, the stupid Harley guys decided it was a great idea to go as fast as they could down a 2 lane highway. I just let them go expecting to see someone die. Oddly the run was for a Harley rider that had dumped his bike doing 20 mph with no gear and slammed his head to the pavement. This is how his "good friends" pay respect. Guess they didn't learn the lesson there.....
  14. Pre 97 is a vacuum petcock too. If you want some Katana know it alls take, hit up KatRiders.com
  15. Recently done the valve lash? I set mine to tight on my old Kat and wouldn't run after it warmed up. Wish I was closer, I'd pick it up.
  16. They also put a diesel in the Commander a few years. I hate that they stopped putting in the I-6. I had a built 4.0L in my TJ. That thing was a monster. 500 lift cam, 3 angle valve job, port/polished head, 11:1 compression ratio, Banks header into a Banks exhaust. But that all made for a 93 octane gas hog, so it had to go when I bought the boat.
  17. If I trusted the gf to tow the boat, I would. I've made this ride multiple times. Always take the long way down thru the Dragon to make the ride more fun. Debated this too, but the boat is so close to the Jeep already that I wouldn't be able to make any tight turns. The rear hatch opening misses the boat by inches when straight behind. I was looking at sliding the boat back on the trailer to make more room, but the frame rails split too soon.
  18. I've only been pulled over once on a group ride. Quite a fun experience. Out riding with my 3 brothers, the youngest riding 3rd position (new rider), followed by my oldest bro. Came up to a sweeping S-Curves, I'm leading at a little over the limit, with my youngest bro slowing up in the curves to take the curves within his limits. As I exit the curves into a straight, I see a sheriff coming so pull the speed down to the limit. I knew he was already pulling us over. As this happens, my other 2 bro's come out of the curves and get on it pretty good to catch up to us. So there is a 4 bikes coming towards this sheriff, 2 slamming on the brakes, 2 hammering down to catch up. Watch him whip a U-Turn so we all just pulled over, got off the bikes, and waited. By the time he was behind us, we had all agreed that no one was talking. Once he started on the speeding bit, I asked who he had on radar. He couldn't answer. Once he got all our licenses, read all our names, he just looked us and asked, "Are you related?" "Yes sir. Brothers." He was instantly pissed. You could tell he knew he couldn't get us for anything. Back to his car to run us real quick, comes back saying, "I'm giving you all warnings. Slow down!" Goes to pass out our IDs and couldn't even tell who was who. Finally he just hands all the IDs to one of us and walks away.
  19. I don't plan on being bored. I always have a blast there. Just want my toys to play with. Planning on the GF going, but she has never towed before and really doesn't even like driving. Truth, but 1) GF 2) Never know where people are on this lake, it is huge!!!! If I had a truck to borrow, do you think I would be asking what everyone thought. I've debated renting, but crazy ideas are always fun.
  20. Well if I go the hitch carrier route, I could also use it for trackdays or trips to SC in the winter.
  21. I thought it was class 3 with 500lb, but i looked up the info and it is class 4 Have you looked at where I live? square mile blocks of road. I'm a good 4 or 5 hrs from anything good so when the chance arises, the bike goes to play.
  22. Well the hitch on it is a class 4 hitch, so I would say it was real. Lol. I have actually been looking at those carriers, but I would need to either fab a ball hitch or find one with one.
  23. I'm going to Columbia. Near Lake Murray. Gonna be there a week, so both toys would be nice. Taking the seats out isn't an option. They are back to back layout seats and are bolted from the underside by a carpeted in frame. Hitch is a factory Jeep hitch. Prolly 500 lb tongue weight. Thought about a hitch hauler, but with the bike being 460 alone, plus the trailer tongue being heavy enough that I don't like to hand lift it, I'm thinking it would be a little much. Renting a boat is an option, but a pontoon is 300 bucks plus gas for 8 hrs. I could tow my own down for cheaper. Plus go faster and use it all week.
