sorry pauly, was not at all criticizing or referring to that ride at all. That was perfectly good and expected fast ride and passes for our standards. when i said specipaulified - I was just borrowing your phrase "unnecessarily fast" and adding my own exaggeration for prose.

Decided against my better judgment to post a ride. So thought might ask for open quorum like ride. Thinking or riding 10-5 this coming Saturday, why open quorum, at this point in OR mostly every one knows plenty of good routes and how to have fun. So even in scenario only one guy show up or 10 or the guy who posted couldn’t make it 😆, it shouldn’t affect anything. The ride will still happen with just a simple discussion on the spot. attgat as always in case random strangers and new to OR folks are reading this meet: most likely bolivar if any west side guys interested to join time: meet around 10:30, delayed due to “chilly dampen road” kind day in morning. Don’t want to haul heated gear and tippy toe around sliding asphalt by starting way early. Route: will decide on the go, twistisfaction guaranteed. Fuel break every 80-90 miles. pace: moderate to fast NOT at all suitable for new riders. But “new to motorcycling guys” feel like joining, I suggest only If you really have a balanced head and well checked and controlled ego. Never ever never try to keep up we will wait for you next corner 100% when we started out somebody waited for us. And we took our time and hence still riding. ( mostly because we been lucky) dont know now why I always Write a big wall of text. I was literally about to delete all of this and just put a date and a time. But it took me a while to type all this crap out in the phone I’m not gonna delete anything.

@Shoop thank you for posting this. Hopefully 12 gets selected and I can make it. Weather after first half of October seems tricky, with prediction for cold sweeping in by end of the month. Then again it’s the weather.

If I remember correctly i once read Ohio has a large motorcycle market only surpassed by California. Need to google that again. May be that’s why this is the central focus with good approach to surrounding states.

Gary, is this your first bike with TC. It was mine, and Yamaha TC not that clean and unobtrusive it seems. You will feel like the grip is funny as if riding through hot tar snake. I kept on getting that I thought it was a bad tire giving this squirmy feel. Changed tires and still still got it and finally realized it’s the TC kicking in. Of course well worn tires with belt seen there is no question about needing new tires.

yea going by one source is usually trash, but I kind of do the "online research" going through lot of forum posts magazines youtube videos even reddit etc to come up with a starting set of numbers which seemed close to my weight and style. Then just tweak a bit during rides and just set it later on. This strategy worked for last 2 out of three bikes with adjustable suspension. But this tracer it was waaaaay off. I am talking several clicks on preload and comp rebound etc, as if entirely different bike. then again there was not much data to go by for this bike since its still pretty new. yes I saw the link on dave moss site for remote help, like 90 bucks something for 30 min consult. I wondered if I needed to be well prepared with all stands and measurement and may be even a helper before going that direction to make full use of the session. If that's the case I cant arrange that hoblick seems like a very viable option, but that guy so busy will be hard to get a time lined up. I wish to just go back with a simple machine like vstrom with no adjustments and hence no headache, just learn to ride the bike as is But noooo even in suspension world the gold color always corrupts men. Just setting stock suspension to my weight and style of riding. For tracer i followed manual/ forum/ magazine setting etc for my weight. This is because of difficulty setting sag alone, it can be done but it’s so much hassle and chance of error. And these time I thought it was good but the bike was unstable doesn’t hold a line etc, the difference was highlighted as soon as I switched ride with @Skinny guy After that I took hundreds of miles solo riding and kept tinkering with it and bike feels entirely new. So much easier to ride. Just made we wonder how good it might be when a proper expert does it.

Are there any suspension experts in neo area that can help set up suspension on a bike? Are there any folks who show up at track days who work on suspension settings like that dude Dave moss in all those west coast videos.

i might actually attempt Pitt race next season for couple of runs. I tried track long time ago. Even before ryan and @Jester_ I think iirc I was the one trying to push them to go try it. But it never clicked for me, and these boys took to it like fish to water, or more specifically behaving like fish without water when ever they are not at the track 😆. Next year will try one more time, for me I am having enough fun for free and unlimited in the streets albeit less safe, but still enjoying. Can’t imagine what I would gain from track. Now if it’s cars there is a valid reason for tracking it, can never extract the Perfomance of cars on street, but bikes I think Perfomance limited by skills and not circumstances like traffic etc

That’s the thing, literally all the anti-comm guys think it’s constant blah blah talk show in there. It’s not like that at all. You literally communicate some important stuff once or twice per whole hour of ride at best. Like not every corner report or road kill is called out, only some extreme blind corner unexpected crap or a passing opportunity in a series of corners. If not the comm goes into a stand by silent mod and you don’t even realize it’s there.

Ed, to be honest i am not with this motomacho men crowd on this one. One of the best investment was getting coms/ esp for me when riding two up. plus makes group riding safer and fun for me. Used to ride a lot with a late friend always linked up. It was another layer of safety, calling out stuff on blind corners, way more safer to make passes, easier to make last minute plan changes as needed, real time learning/ correcting riding, lines, feedback etc without having to stop take helmet off and waste time etc. to me motorcycling and by association group ride should be fluid and graceful like dancing, following the beat and modulating modifying and changing the rhythm or route or stop etc on the flow. Comms give you that freedom, for eg: on a pre planned route you see some new exciting road, you feel like trying it, ask the guys on com, instant yes or no and booms its done. it cannot be like a military regimen and parade, i mean it can be but kind of looses the fun part a bit. that is feeling of freedom and flexibility. Just following a pre planned rouTe to the T etc is okay and good but not exactly great. But different strokes for different folks i guess i will unfollow this thread before they gonna kill me with ridiculously funny and probably true counter arguments and puns. I dont even know why i typed all that above. I know they are never going to link up ever in a group ride haha

that new pocket monster duc has merged with pauly. We all a got bite with that venom that weekend. Even while riding solo back on 250 i was making the same crazy passes because it was starting to feel normal lol @TimTheAzn i know u miss this, deep in your heart you know this. Its just your brain telling you " you dont need this" but your heart and soul craves this. .... You can get brand new kawi 400 abs out the door for around 4k if you search well and haggle up a bit. Thats more than enough bike for these roads. Come on out ...lets gooooo @Tonik we all need to hit one more ride before winter ends. Thinking 10/5 is the next possible date for me, hope weather holds. Dropped the ball on that one. But seriously did they come with those frame slider thingy for front and back bag etc? It kinda stays at a 45 degree angle even at full fall right?

I was literally expecting cops at the end of 250 waiting for us with hand cuffs 🤣 To be honest there is no other way to do 250 I think without those passes. The group size and experience was perfect for this ride and pace. Hopefully one more of these before winter hits us. reminded me of old Mach retard rides. Paul and Jinu used to do this, pass and jinu like a shadow right behind. Same thing you and durk were doing today. Dayum should have sticked with you guys. Are you sure Only 320 for you guys?? I was thinking you guys prolly would have gone till afternoon seeing that we dipped into WV. I would definitely have completed the loop if I knew 3ish return time. Heck I did 260 exploring around long way back. But all in all, I am happy I got to get out today. And thx again Pauly for posting this up. Esp at earlier time which forced me to start early after a loooong time, missed catching the sun rises while on motorcycle. Today was perfect day. Nice to see durk again. Skinny we gonna ride at least once again before winter I am sure.
