  1. Wranglers are a blast, as long as you realize what they are and what they aren’t. You’re ahead to hold out for one that already has a hardtop and full doors, as they’re expensive to buy used. 4.0 is the only way to go, the 2.5 can’t get out of its own way. Like mentioned, the frame is the main thing to check for rust. The tubs and fenders have common rust areas, but that’s typically a cosmetic issue only.

The problem with Wranglers as a buyer is they never go out of season, so they hold their value pretty well. In your range, you’ll be looking at higher milage stuff, but you can certainly find what you’re looking for and the 4.0 is solid and simple to maintain. I’d suggest looking at Saharas, all of them came with the hardtop, full doors and 4.0, along with some other minor upgrades. All of them also came with tan interior with dark green inserts though, which is a take it or leave it deal. I never cared for the interior before, but ended up finding a great deal on a ‘99 2 owner cream puff last year that’s all white with the tan/green interior and it grew on me pretty quick.

  2. you can get a 2.7tt crew cab f150 stx in that 34 range comparing to a 5.3 chevy its quicker to 60, faster 1/4, tows better, gets better gas mileage, and the stx package gives you an 8" touch screen and 20" wheels... i may be biased but so is the rest of america if you look at new truck sales

I’ve seen them in the mid 30s, but the interior just seems to look super cheap compared to the GM trucks. Also, I know it’s weird, but I prefer monochrome on the Silverados but like the chrome on the F150s, so not a big fan of the STX trucks.

  3. Yep. The Z71s are what I’m leaning towards, not a fan of the chrome treatment on the Silverados and I think a level and some wheels would make a big difference. Just wanted to make sure there weren’t any similars deals on other brands before I pull the trigger. I assume the big markdowns are mostly because it’s an outgoing design on top of them being a leftover 2018. I’ve found F-150s and Ram 1500s cheaper, but they were stripped down fleet type trucks.
  4. 5.5’ bed works for me. I rarely need to haul anything that wouldn’t fit in that, but use a bed enough that I “need” a truck. Need the crew cab for 2 kids and the associated shit that comes with them, 4wd because the house we moved into last year is on top of a hill that is a private drive and doesn’t get treated in winter.
  5. I’m in the market for a new truck. My only real requirements are that it’s a crew cab and 4wd. Really just interested in full size trucks, but I kinda like the Tacomas also. Anybody know of any good deals? The best I’ve found so far is Coughlin has huge discounts ($14k) off 2018 Silverados. I absolutely hate the 2019 GM trucks, so having an “old” body style is actually a plus to me. I wouldn’t be opposed to a lightly used truck, but from what I’ve seen, the price difference between used and new isn’t much, and I’d guess the financing would better with new.

That doesn’t include motorcycles. I feel like I’m forgetting some.

  7. I feel like this thread is less about the Supra being a supercar and more about proving Kerry “wrong”, buuuuuuuut I’ve never considered the Supra a supercar. It fits the definition of a Grand Touring car much better.

“A grand tourer (Italian: gran turismo) (GT) is a performance and luxury automobile capable of high speed and long-distance driving.[1] The most common format is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive two-door coupé with either a two-seat or a 2+2 arrangement.” - Wiki

  8. Awful, and yet another concept that the manufacturer teased for way too long. By the time it reaches production, the excitement has passed and the design loses its sexiness thanks to government regulations and real world drivability.
  9. Congratulations on another step in your career.

Short and sweet answers, I tend to listen podcasts an hour or less. There are rare occasion that I’ll listen longer if it’s a road trip or something, but an hour or less is more doable.

I personally like listening to bullshit sessions more than technical discussion. Get a guy on who recently won an event and let him talk for a bit about what they did to prepare the car, what happened on the trip the the track, qualifying, between rounds, tell us about the final round, how did they celebrate the win, etc. just car guy stuff. Depending on the guest, those type of stories can be absolute gold. Also, like suggested above, seek out some retired legends. Have them tell stories about the glory days, ask them their opinion on the sport today. Bring in anyone involved in the sport, the crew has better stories than the drivers more often than not.

  10. Just like anything made domestically, they’ll probably priced themselves right out of the market. Most people need/want them can’t afford to buy, people who can afford to buy won’t care.

This was my first thought. Stupid high price that most people won’t be able to afford, and those than can afford it will either buy a Wrangler or full size truck based on what their intended use is. Jeep people are crazy though, I bet they sell like crazy.

  11. It'll be fine. All new chassis, new cooling, optional diesel, it'll pull just fine up to a few hours away. Anything longer I'll take my dad's truck. Keep in mind I don't even have a trailer or the truck so this is all dreeemz.

Let’s hope it’s built better than the JL Wrangler frames.

How's your 350Z? Your marriage? Remember, you posted on an online forum that your wife's a "c**t"...I'll never forget that gem. Stay Classy. Sounds like you'd flip more than a car if you could make a buck.

Move full-time to AL, because following you is a disappointment. I know I'm not the only one that's told you that in your life.
