Ok, I am 100% wrong, taking classes is no good and will not reduce any kind of incidents whatsoever The only laws mentioned were in the first post, now what changes were actually made I have no clue. I'm at work so I didn't get a chance to watch the 6:00 news, but I also stated that, so no discussion there. As far as arguments go there is none, its a proven fact that more training and having common sense reduces accidents. If you want to argue against that then you are just a fool. If a 4 year old shoots a 2 year old, who is at fault? If a person shoots themselves in the hand, who is at fault? If a weapon gets stuck on autofire, whos fault is it? Obviously the gun owners fault, correct? Let me fill in the blanks on these examples if you don't believe me and how proper training and common sense could have prevented these incidents If a 4 year old shoots a 2 year old, who is at fault? The gun owners, if he would of had enough sense to put his gun up and out of reach and locked up this wouldn't happen. If a person shoots themselves in the hand, who is at fault? Hmm... Never ever, ever, ever pull the trigger, unless you are pointing at a target or you are 100% sure it is clear(check yourself, don't trust anyone to have already done this) Use muzzle awareness, never point a weapon at something you don't intend on shooting. If a weapon gets stuck on autofire, whos fault is it? The owners of course. This was probably caused by a dirty weapon or heating up the barrel(no cool down period) I know these examples may seem silly, but these are real incidents, all of which are way too common. These could have been prevented with PROPER training. Also, everyone tells me to take the MSF and wear all my gear all the time, I wonder why that is? Same rule applies to guns... Ear plugs, safety glasses, and proper training is the key. I don't wear plugs or wear safety glasses though, shame on me but, I do follow all the other rules when handling a firearm.

I think your wrong here... http://www.defensivecarry.com/forum/general-firearm-discussion/85144-negligent-discharge-may-not-appropriate-you-think.html http://ricks.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2011/05/13/negligent_discharges_one_subject_the_military_really_doesnt_like_to_talk_about http://negligentdischarge.com/

I was army, but pretty much any branch. Safety is a huge factor in handling weapons due to the fact that they will take any average Joe off the street, granted they somewhat meet the requirements. Therefore, this is the only thing I can base my views on. As far as the classes being a joke, that is just here say(from this thread, including yourself) I'm sure some instructors do give a shit about safety, but it's a real shame all of them don't. Maybe there should be a stricter requirement to be come an instructor? I don't plan on owning a pistol, but that doesn't mean I don't plan on owning a shotgun or some other kind of weapon down the road. I've stated that I like going to the range, but for now I just use my other peoples weapons.

Well, fuck... Everyone is a grammar Nazi here, so now I actually have to type somewhat proper... :assholes:

I never took the class, I probably will eventually, oh wait I won't have to now I didn't realize the class was a joke in the first place, that's a pitty. The only 'weapons class' I took was in the military, which is part of the mandatory training(optional in some cases). In the military safety is above all else though. I would think people would have the common sense and know how to safely handle a gun, but unfortunately that is not the case.

http://thenewpolitical.com/2012/04/30/controversy-spurred-over-less-strict-ohio-gun-laws/ I am not 100% if all of these passed, there should be something on the news tonight about this though. I couldn't find anything else online otherwise I would have posted more links. I predict alot more 'neglect discharges' though depending on how this pans out. I don't see how they can even begin to think about getting rid of mandatory classes, thats a huge safety issue.

Do you plan on getting a new helmet? I hear alot of people say it's best to buy a new helmet if it gets damaged during a wreck, even if it looks fine physically. I don't know how true that is or what the effects would be if it was to be involved in another wreck(still has to be 10000x safer than no helmet at all ) but better safe than sorry. You had witnesses in this case though that can vouch you did everything within your powers to avoid a wreck, not your fault the dog PHYSICALLY ran into the side of your bike.

yes, lets save that for your birthday What about a hot air balloon ride or base jumping? If you have any high up military buddys maybe you can even set up an intense boot camp challenge, that would deff be something out of the ordinary

All good, I just dont got that confidence yet at higher speeds, which is why ima just stick to the city for now. I know that, you know that, its pretty obvious. I just like putting around, plenty of fun for me, for now Im not really a huge thrill seeker and the last thing I wanna do is get uncomfortable, because thats when mistakes are more likely to happen. Although I did put alot of tips that people gave me about downshifting to good use today, but I think I was downshifting way too early saw some chick on the back of a busa on the way home, I was doing 65 in a 50(on harshman) and the guy driving must of been doing 80+ as he passed me like I was standing still. we start going around that lil curv where the light to 201 is and its pure red, well the idiot on the busa slows down to about 40 if I had to guess and runs the red light to make a left turn onto 201. Shit I thought he was gunna lay that fucker down or get hit by another car, his knees were almost to the ground. neither one had any gear on either. All I could think is that chick is crazy as shit for getting on the back of that bike, but atleast she leaned into the turn with him. Point is, youll never catch me on the back of any bike again. Ive rode 2up 2x in my life. Once when I was 10 and once last year. + the whole its kinda gay thing

Thats just some extra eye candy for the ladies

I know, I just feel bad for making them wait on me. I don't ride above my comfort level(unless im forced into that type of situation, which does happen from time to time) and I dont ride past 50mph, so it makes it a sluggish ride for them. They were cool about it and all, hell vandy was gunna ride behind me all the way, but I made him go in front of me so he could open his bike up and have some real fun I do have alot of fun riding with others, it's a good experience and I learn more every time I take a new road, but im just a little too cautious to the point where I feel others may not enjoy their ride as much I will defiantly attend some meet and greets or hang out events though whenever I have the time
-
That sux bro, the good thing is you had your gear on, otherwise you probably would be in the hospital instead of posting things. Hopefully it will not cost you an arm and a leg to get your bike roadworthy again, but money is money, comes and goes. Ride safe

I thought the pickup passing my turtle ass today was gunna clip me, he cut it pretty close and to make matters worse I almost went in the left lane cuz there was an old man in the middle of the road. I dunno what made me look over my shoulder, but im sure as hell glad I did Good ride guys and nice to meet you vandy, sorry for laggin behind like the whole way, I think my top speed was 53 and I was extra cautious in the corners. This will prob be my last group ride for a while, im too slow for these things. I'll probably wait till next year b4 another, when I have some more miles under my belt and can keep up better without making yall wait.

I wonder if the Columbus zoo would let you ride your bike inside to get a pic with a goat if so, that would be epic

Ide be willing to take someone to those areas, ive never actually been to either of those hangers, so it'd be a new experience for me aswell. If anyone is interested just send me a PM whenever and we can work something out. I usually visit the museum once every year or 2.

Cool, cool, 202 to 41 it is I just wanted to make sure there wasn't more than one Honda dealership in Troy(well maybe there is, but thats the only one I've been to) Cookout afterwards sounds great, hopefully the wife takes the kids with her. I'll text Brandt tomorrow afternoon if I can make it out there.
