I'll be pleading 'not quilty' on the 27th. I have the hookup at Fontana now. Yes, those roads were incredible... Chris
-
I'll be going down the 8th - 14th (approximately). Will be staying at Fontana. When you going? Chris
-
I went out to G&J Kart Track Sunday and ran my NSR50 and NSF100 (after swapping the handlerbars on the NSF). My race body position is much closer to 'textbook' than my street position is. I'll work on my street position as I surely wouldn't mind going faster. Chris

Was that Saturday's route? Chris

Ohio riders invades deals gap- pics and ride report..

Come down to Lebanon and have a quiet (or noisy) moment alone in my garage. I'm gonna be heading south. I don't normally attend the sbk races. I'll be at MotoGP for sure! Chris -
I was told it's only gay if you enjoy it

Great information and appreciate the discussion. Pics are from different angle so hard to see seat/butt position but of course they look great. I'm willing to try the other ways, I normally only ride with head and shoulders out on track, which has been 10 years ago, excluding mini bike racing this year. Hardly ridden since then until this riding season. Happy to be back in the game. School would be great, maybe I can make that my bday gift next year. Chris

I surely don't want to imply my method is textbook. And never meant to imply KC teaches nutt to tank. Just saying that is how I ride on the street. It is just what works for me. I hang upper body further only if required which isnt my normal street technique. I'm too old and out of shape to ride textbook
-
Let me clarify what I mean by twist. I ride nutt to tank. BEFORE the turn, I get my body in the position I want to go through the turn using. My position is to move one butt check off the seat and slightly forward. I think of it as having the pivot point just where the tank and seat meet. I'm still hanging off some and I still use my opposite leg to help hold on the bike. I fully agree that light on the bars is very important to going fast. I don't recommend doing anything mid turn. Keith code mentions in the "Twist II DVD" to get one butt check off the seat. One check is enough. http://i1145.photobucket.com/albums/o502/turnone/188452.jpg See in this picture how I am off and leaned forward. This is what I consider pivoting. Easy for me to rotate around the bank of the tank = easier to ride fast longer. Chris
-
I do the twisting before I get into the corner. I haven't noticed any extra bar pressure mid corner while doing it, but I'll be on the lookout for it.
-
Great point. I am a huge believer in the "bikes steer themselves, don't fuck it up" technique of light on the bars mid corner. Huge imput, then light touch. Something to think about for me. I don't want to be doing anything that adds bar pressure. Chris
-
Cool. I'm 40 so not sure I'll change, but always be willing to learn. Please explain about the tucking in vs. the twisting or leaning off. I feel that rotating, it is a combination of learning off and forward. And although I like Keith Code, I don't only consider his advice when riding. Chris
-
For me it depends. If you are trying to weight the front under heavy acceleration to keep the front down, I do twist or rotate. If you want to have maximum steering angle, then yes, want to lean off as far as possible. Completely depends on the goal. Riding is very complex and you have to find what works best for you. My techniques are only guaranteed to work for me. Like I mentioned earlier, going fast is a combination of things, no one thing will make you fast. My photobucket has a few photos from last weeks Gap trip. You can see me pivot around the tank, not leaning off to far. I assure you this technique can work well. Chris
-
"Get your butt off the seat" Yes. I like Keith Code's one butt check approach. I generally pivot my hips arount the back of the tank to get my cheek off and forward to keep weight on the front end. "amazing how much more tire you have" Yes. Chicken strips are evidence of more tire available. But when combined the full statement could confuse someone. To clarify, more off the seat = less lean angle for the same speed. Chris
-
Chicken strips are a sign of lean angle. Lean is reflective of corner speed assuming you aren't leaning the wrong way as that's just stupid on any motorcycle at speed. I don't hang off the bike a ton, but have no trouble using the full width of the tire and going quickly. If I misjudge a corner, then I hang off further to allow the handlebar to be turned even further to allow a tighter turning radius. Meaning I will shift more weight off the bike. This technique allows me to ride quickly for longer periods of time without tiring. If I hung off far every corner, that is more effort. It also looks funny to see someone hanging off without much lean angle on the bike. This is a thread about stripes, not just going fast on a sportbike. Going fast requires much more than lean angle, but generally speaking if you can't lean a bike over near the edge, you probably aren't very fast either. http://s1145.photobucket.com/albums/o502/turnone/ Chris

-
I see a lot more Jager Monsters in our future! Thanks for the great time. Chris
-
Yes. Easy to check. Body panels don't even have to come off. Just small cover over battery. They are tight. I'll swap the battery tomorrow night to test. thanks for the tip. Chris
-
Thanks for all the compliments. You guys are a great bunch. I personally felt my greatest accomplishment was getting girls from the grill over to the firepit. Also a big thanks for helping Chandler and I feel welcome. We had a great time. We want I to go back early July. I didnt realize what I have been missing. I only took one video and it was me going 30 moh up the gap due to the cop. I can never remember to turn that thing on. Chris

Everyone should be here for the next one! Chris -
I leave at 11 AM tomorrow. If the weather is good when I wake up, I will be riding up the gap twice before I depart. Chris
-
Anyone here today? Bored with the off and on rain and wet roads. I'll am probably going to hang out at the grill later with Chandler. Chris
-
It's going to be my signature, a new twist on Casper's comment the other night. Still laughing about that shit. Fun times. Chris (I may suck at building fires but I am good at fucking and I'm fast)
-
I would also disagree. I'm not a fan of parading around. Way more dangerous with the varying levels of desired pace. I had a great time so far. Woke up to rain. Hate it for those riding back today. Chris (I may suck at building fires but I am good at fucking and I'm fast)
