  1. What do you mean by riding the front like a pussy? Is there a riding style that merits the break from the norm? Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  2. I've done some homework on the web and now I'm more confused. I'm wanting to know what is a good pressure to run on the track. I'm 260 with gear on and ride a Hayabusa so it is a lot of weight. I run 30.5 on the rear and 31.5 in the front and get 2lbs of expansion in the rear and about 1.5 in the front when I pull off the track. Some people run more in the rear than the front which seems odd to me. I assume the rear has more contact, more heat, more expansion, thus less initial pressure is needed. So is it more in the front less in rear or vice versa? Also is the ultimate goal to have the pressures match when up to temperature or should they always be staggered?
  3. Dude, this is bootleg but it works for me. I hook a small hose that fits snugly around the nipple of the bleeder valve and the other end goes into a bleeder cup from a bleeding kit. I then hook my shop vac to the bleeder cup nipple, crack the bleeder, turn on the shop vac, and watch it suck out air until steady fluid pours out. Next I go through traditional pump and bleed procedures to get out the last bit. Also pumping clutch until no air bubbles come up through the resivoir is a good start like previously mentioned. There is pressure in there and you can pump your way out of it but it will take all night. Just get some fluid in the line and even the slightest bit will jump start the whole process. It's a PITA bit once you get going its good to go. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  4. If you are not a grease monkey and don't want to disassemble the crankcase in front of the seller I would look at general maintenance issues. The bike is the bike from the factory but if the owner is into his ride he'll normally be aware of, and likely fix, factory shortcomings. 1. What does the oil look like and does he DIY, have service logs, type of oil, etc. 2. Is the chain too tight, loose, worn 3. Is there a blistering chicken strip 4. Is there moisture around the fork seals 5. What type of coolant does he use to swap and is there tap water in it 6. What type of brake fluid did he swap to and the intervals 7. Look at the owners manual and see if it has dirt on the edges of the page from actually being used Just talk to the guy about the bike. It will come out in conversation if he thinks running wal-mart dino oil is just as good as amsoil and he changed it every 5k and that brake fluid swap yearly is all hype cuz if it ain't broke don't fix it. If you get that jazz I'd pass. Buying a used sportbike is like marrying a hooker, they may be hot but watch for the clap son. I run my bike hard but if you ask me any of those questions I could recite with confidence and hand you my maintenance log. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  5. Very true. They are more dangerous too given they weight 3000-4000 lbs. They think they are safe and remain unaware and entitled. I work at a bank and I've seen so many cagers run through and bash their cars off the pylons in the drive through. Typically women in SUV's. And I mean bash as in need to call a tow truck. Last week a woman hit one so hard she bounced 4 foot backwards and got stuck on the rear pylon. :what: Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  6. You shouldn't need a license. After the morons I've seen rolling in my 12 years on the street I have no faith I'm their testing system. It's strictly for revenue, not for safety. 'Here 18 year old guy, swerve through these cones at 3mph and we'll unleash you and your R1 capable of breaking the sound barrier on 270, and that'll be $100" Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  7. You are my hero! I was talking about that boss load yesterday. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  8. Yes sir. My first track day was may 14th and I did one in early June too. Started settling in and smoothing out so now I'm hooked. Maybe this time I'll actually get on the track and not have a coach bounce my tail up and down while I make engine noises in the pit lane:D Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  9. Yeah, basically what he said as well as a lack of refining capacity in the US. Oil prices are correlated, but not directly related to gas prices as gas is a product of raw oil. Between that and speculation of oil supply and demand in a future a contract we will continue to see this disconnect. Example, speculators think China will boom and prices jump on 6 month futures contract. We pay today for what we think will happen later. China doesn't boom and supply is ample. Windfall profits are had due to the discrepancy. So don't worry and ride the bike everywhere at 40mpg:D Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  10. I'll be there on Monday. Fat kid on a black Busa riding in novice. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  11. 6'3" and fluctuate between 215 and 230. I'm built like a power lifter, fat and muscular. I lift 4 days a week and do BJJ. I've never had a problem tossing a bike around but I'll never race given I'm probably 80lbs over idea weight. I just run track days for the fun of it. Lifting has developed a strong core and this has helped my riding immensely, deadlifting and squatting in particular. A strong back and hips keeps me from resting my weight on the handle bars. Body positioning is easy to hold and switch and I don't gas out and get sloppy. BJJ has kept me flexible so it's not hard to curl and tuck as well as given some muscle endurance. As for diet I know what to do but I eat like a horse. I keep it pretty clean and my blood work is always top notch, but I consume probably 4000 calories a day. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  12. Welcome aboard to you and the big Kawasaki. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  13. Perfect bike! A little torque and it can get out of its own way. The 250 starter fad is beyond me. People need to be responsible riders and that can be done on a GIXXER 1000 as long as you don't get throttle happy. Have fun:) Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  14. By mid straight you'll be back on my 6 after I unload. It's fun riding the big bikes and a challenge to see how fast you can stand it up to lay down a black patch out of a corner. It's like riding a bloated gazelle on cocaine and red bull. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  15. Come get some buddy:) if I lose you better believe next time I'll be spraying NOS to make up for lack of riding ability. Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
  16. Better to have a girthy black object in front of you than behind you sir:D When you get your video uploaded let me know. Good riding with ya! I'm looking at June 25th and I'm going to bring a riding buddy of mine too and watch him have a blast.
  17. I wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I've been riding since I was 12 and picked up my first street bike, 2001 Gixxer 600 when I was 19 and haven't looked back. I met a real nice guy at Mid-Ohio who invited me to the forum so I wanted to check it out. I ride a k9 Busa and a 2003 VTX 1800c now. I will be looking for some long rides later in the summer when I put the VTX back together afters fresh paint and other custom work.
  18. I just signed up for this forum and I made it up there too. Lots of fun and a fantastic pace at the lead of the novice class. Got to meet crazbiker4 in person. It felt like I really hit a groove and had a blast! Probably going to do 2-3 more this summer. I was the fat guy with the Busa.
  19. I have big duck feet too and when I dive in they scrape sometimes. Even when I think they are tucked in they aren't. So make sure your big toe is pressed against your peg mounts. Bending a corner at speed can make you lose track of an inch of footing so practice practice practice and the next track day we'll hear about all the knee dragging and not toes Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
