  1. I meant what % of a race is required for a bonafide stereotype?

You don't think negative stereotypes are a bad thing?

Considering it's a thing built by society, it's not like there's a certain %. It's all a matter of when people start noticing enough for their minds to say "Well, look, there's a white guy getting on at an RTA stop. That's rare."

Negative stereotypes are negative. Positive stereotypes are positive. Both are true to a certain degree, whether they're bad or good. It's human nature.

Refer to my "how to tell black people apart" post with pizza earlier. If you look at ANY black person and think they're on welfare, you're racist. If you're able to make an assumption of a black person by what they're wearing, how they talk, and how they handle themselves then you are stereotyping. As long as there's not any prejudices involved, stereotypes are useful.

  2. What equals a true stereotype?  If it applies to 50% of the population?

If it applies to a certain race more than it does to the general population. You didn't really disprove any of my questions, either. Black people like chicken way more than the average person, Asian people frequently score better on testing, the Mexican construction thing is a toss-up but there is definitely a LOT of Mexican labor, and I know not a single non-white NASCAR fan.

I really don't think stereotypes are even a bad thing in the first place.

  3. You can't judge a book by it's cover.  I'd say it becomes a problem when it goes anywhere beyond lighthearted conversation.

    Why do stereotypes form? Examples?

A lot of the time you can. It's a psychological defense, actually.

How many black people do you know that don't like chicken?

How many [real] Asian people have you met that haven't been smart?

(Assuming you know a dumb Asian, how many salon parlors that you've been into accidentally have been filled to the brim with Asians? Even an Asian friend of mine's parents own one.)

How many Mexican construction workers have you seen?

How many non-white people do you know that like NASCAR?

I personally enjoy stereotypes. The vast majority of them are completely true.

  4. Racism is definitely still around.  Stereotyping is pretty much tolerated.  Even though things are better than the past, it makes me sick.

What's the problem with stereotyping? Stereotypes form for a reason.

  5. I believe when someone is a registered it should be eaiser to find out what really happened.

my  neighbor down the street is registered & when we bought this house all I heard from the other neighbors  was how "bad" he was.

My wife did some digging & found out he was convicted of statuary rape in 1985 at 19 years old...... his "victim"  17 & 8 months  at the time of the filing.

oh yea, the victim is now his wife....

    What.. the fuck..

    I hate our legal system.

  6. Walking down the street, how do you tell an educated one from an uneducated one?

What qualifies as "educated"? 4 year degree? masters? doctorate? studying on one's own?

Fact is: Racism is alive and well in this country. It may not be generally as overt as it has been in the past, but it is far from being "history"

Do they have a ridiculous amount of 'bling' on? Are they yelling "'Ey Shaniqua get up hurr!" Is every sentence appended with the word "nigga?" It's usually pretty easy to tell. If every word they use could be found in Merriam-Webster, they're educated enough for me. When I was delivering pizza a few months ago, you could tell the educated from the non usually simply by what neighborhood they were in. (Yes, that job made me a tinge more hating of ghetto blacks because of tips. 4/5 of my stiffs were from black people - objective reasoning as to why they're putting their societal opinion of blacks on themselves.) Even some of the non are good people, but that's a minority.

I'll admit I was wrong in saying that they don't have ANYTHING against them anymore socially, but in general there's enough programs out there (affirmative action, anybody?) to legally make them able to succeed with real effort.

  7. So no black people are ever discriminated against anymore? Interesting...

By what I would call white trash, yes. White trash and ghetto black people piss me off equally, the trash blaming their trashiness on anything non-white and ghetto black people blaming their ghettoness on "the white man" that they act like enslaved them personally before they were even born and owes them everything.

Generally, I'd say educated black people are extremely well-received.

  8. There's a big difference between a nigger and a black person. Martin and his girlyfran definitely seemed to better fit the mold of the former, which honestly destroys their credibility to me right from the get-go even without all the evidence. The fact that black people get so offended by a word but then use it pisses me off more than anything when they weren't even born anytime near when their race was actually discriminated against unfairly. If they don't want to be "below the white man," they should step up their game and stop acting like uneducated, welfare-gathering, ebonics-speaking tools. Nothing's holding them back anymore.

I hope Zimmerman gets off. I think evidence points towards him being mostly innocent (he shouldn't have been following), but I mostly want it just to see what happens afterward.

  9. I have no problem with that turnout. It says in the article that in the man's area the courts were putting quite a few people in prison as sex offenders wrongfully at that time. "Witch Hunt" or whatever they said. If the mother is going to make up a story like that, I'd trust the father tenfold over her with the daughter.

It's the comments on the article that piss me off. I can't stand people that think A.) mothers are the only ones that can successfully raise a child and B.) people that think whatever a court rules is always correct, no matter what. Sheep.

  10. crap, u dont even live in cbus lol

I have a place I might be able to park my van; a family friend that lives in Columbus. If somebody could just drive me TO the airport from there, that'd be just as well to me. I just didn't want to have anybody have to drive to pick me up. I feel rude enough asking already!

  11. I will be flying to Florida for a solo vacation on July 5th and it costs WAY more than I thought it would to park at the airport. ($17/day) I will be gone until July 16th. If I were to use that rate, I'd be paying about $187 just to park.

Is there anybody that would be willing to allow me to park my van at your place until I get back? (And if you're feeling REALLY generous, drive me to the airport? My flight's at 5:30 AM, so I have to be there at 3:30 AM. I'll <3 you forever and ever, and give you gas money.)

    Thanks!

  12. Glad your OK, the 250s are awesome and very light. You will need to gear it if its not already done and you may want to jet it, remove the snorkel.

Thank ya. I should be a lot more screwed up than I am with how I wrecked. Some entity was helping me out that day.

As soon as I can find one I might be asking for help on those things. :p I'm capable of oil, tires, brake pads, anything outside of the engine!

    ..I dun't wanna break it..

  13. I have a coworker selling a practically new 09 Ninja 250 for $2k, PM me if interested!

    Very interested. PM sent.

Did you go down and when?

Around 2 weeks ago on Rt 22 in NKY. I was going from Falmouth back to Willow (only the 3rd time I've done that road in that direction, and I forgot about a double apex decreasing radius. By the time I saw the second apex my knee was already on the ground with no tire left.

    Thought process:

    Oh shit. Other corner.

Make it over the double yellows? Yeah let's try--

Oh shit nope. Not gonna work. LEAN AND LOWSIDE

*watching bike fly with PARTS GOIN' ERRYWURR*

Ah shit I'm fucked fucked fucked squirm squirm around some more

    My leg won't move.. welp

    That was fun though

    Poor bike

Nobody I know, just a local find when I did a ninja 250 search :dunno: Go buy that beauty, I'd love to have it but my couch suits me and now that the wife has her little recliner parked next to it I have no room for another bike......yet ;)

Damn man, my eyes are sorry to see these pics.....you all good? No injuries to speak of? What is with 2013? More OhioRiders down this year than the last couple combined

Hurts my eyes too.. I put a lot of stuff on that bike before this season only to basically have it totalled out by my standards. (Probably $1,000-$2,000 in repairs which I don't have. Might as well sell and save for another.)

Guessing the parents wont let him get another 600.. no 18 YO in his right mind would step down to a 250 after having a 600. I know I wouldnt then and wouldnt now.

It's actually my choice. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about it, but with how I ride it doesn't bother me. Top speed has never mattered to me at all, I've only ever went up to about 130 on the ZX6R (jk for cops) just to keep up with idiotic friends, and in twisties I've heard 250s rule. If I could get a nice 600 for the same price I would, but they're also higher maintenance even after bought.

Going off to college, I basically have my wallet in a bind. A 250 is cheap insurance, cheap maintenance, great MPGs.. And I could try and juice whatever experience I can out of it before the end of college to get uber crazy awesome on bikes. (I've heard 250s are the best way to learn even for already-experienced riders.)

  14. Damn you man, why go and blow a local secret. I so want to go check this one out. Yours or someone on here?

Bitani, why another crotcher when you have the ZX? For the women or why not go with something completely trashable and different, like a sumo?

    Erm...

    J0q7G0b.jpgwuxDFS1.jpgOVaz9Hn.jpg

    :(

  15. I hate when I go to a site and there are amazon ads for products I looked at a few months ago. There is this new dependence on impulse buying online, that's the idea behind Google wallet, and a company rep even said so on the Jim bohannen show a few months ago. They want you to see, want, purchase without engaging your brain.

That's what infomercials have been doing for years.

  16. when was that, may I ask?

Because that is a thing of the past. For better or for worse, people are all kinds of self-conscious. Or maybe it's a bullying thing.

Frankly, I think we're getting what we ask for as a society. I'm not going to pretend bullying isn't a very real issue, but we've gotten in the habit of suspending or expelling kids when they stand up for themselves.

    That's the bullshit.

In 5th grade, a kid who bullied me laid me the fuck out during a recess touch football game. I got up, grabbed him by the collar, and jacked him in the face. In the principal's office, my dad was told "it's school policy not to fight back." He told my principal, "well, it's family policy to fight back with everything you've got."

My principal was a former boxer. I got off with a warning, and a lot of respect for my old man.

    This.

At my high school, you could have a kid beating the absolute shit out of you but if you so much as try and fight back you will get expelled/suspended as well. Basically you're just supposed to take it until whatever authority is around stops it.

    Complete bullshit.

  17. Google is trying to take over every aspect of online money making. You can't even rate android apps now without a Google+ account, and g+ is just a way to data mine you and advertise directly to you.

They're a business. They need money. The vast majority of their services are completely free.

And yet "THEY WANT TO KNOW WHAT MY HOBBIES ARE" is many people's concern.

Privacy was dead as soon as the Internet came into the picture. I really don't see why Google gets so much hate for collecting users' [non-essential] personal information. They're not storing credit card info and selling them out.

  18. I'm looking for a new bike to throw around and so I've decided that I would enjoy a Ninja 250 after a bit of research.

If anybody knows of anybody selling one or is selling one themself, lemme know!

I'd much prefer one with the newer body, but if the price is right.. I'm happy!

  19. Just seems like a dude that wants to try and hide behind the law like it's a brick wall. (Kind of like all of the people that refuse to show officers their identification when they're open-carrying guns.)

Just because a piece of paper says "Thou shalt not kick my door in without a warrant" doesn't mean that it's not better for you to just open the door to police and show them that nothing's actually happening. When it comes to people's lives, I couldn't give a shit less what laws are in play. Figure out if somebody's dangerous by whatever means (within reason, ofc) before something that might happen.

This is what is wrong with this country. "OH WELL IT SAYS SO IN THIS LAW RIGHT HERE"
