  1. The bike is used.  It is worth only what a buyer

would pay for it on the open market.  Check

what that bike has sold for with that mileage.

Actual sales will back up your claim to what

    the bike is worth.

Items added to the bike are also used.  If you

can find sales figures on eBay to support their

value, you will have a leg to stand on.

You are not owed replacement value of this

vehicle because the chance of duplicating

this vehicle with used parts is possibly slim.

    You are owed market value.

Possibly you can strip from the bike what you

could sell and settle on a price for what is left.

Medical?  This is the reason I would have had

an attorney involved from square one.  The

longer you wait to show medical needs, the

less they will recognize those needs as being

legit.  Bike value and medical are two separate

things.  You can settle on one but the other

remains alive until you settle on it.  You possibly

could make up for some of the loss on the bike

by what you could receive for pain and suffering.

Talk to a lawyer and don't sign anything from

    the insurance company.

  2. Some things I pulled off the interwebs.

The "Biblical scholar" in question (Joseph Atwill) is just a blogger.

Having a blog does not make one a scholar.

The discussion at the end of this is interesting.

As for me, I was raised to be a believer.

Jesus Christ is my Lord and savior and

I don't require anyone to like it.

  3. T'was a good ride.  I'm plumb tuckered out from

two good days off work, on two wheels.  The skies

were threatening at times but nary a drop of

precipitation did I encounter.  Woo hoo!  Buying

a motorsickle was one of the best things I've

ever done.  Too bad more of you didn't get to

join in.  I almost bailed out because of the strong

    chance of a rainy day.

    Maybe next time.

  4. I didn't like the term, "unauthorized gathering."

They were a bunch of hoods.  They should

have responded just like an ordinary traffic

accident.  The guy's wife was probably in a

panic urging him to get out of there.  Cooler

    heads could have prevailed.

The whole thing is a mess.  And I agree that

they shouldn't be stunting on the streets and

especially in NYC.  I didn't know that's what

they were going there to do.

  5. I wouldn't cry myself to sleep over that, honestly...  Especially if they made it more like 6 bikes.

I can't stand when large groups of bikes disrupt traffic by following too closely and essentially creating one monstrous vehicle.  If you're riding with 5 friends, split into 2 groups of 3, and let the law require that you leave at least 5 car lengths between each group.  Make the rules clear, and have a rational reason for their implementation, and what's the problem?

Are you going to argue freedom of association or freedom to peaceably assemble?  Because I don't think either apply on public roads.

These "rally" rides and huge groups of riders do a lot more harm for our sport/hobby than they do good.  That goes for public perception, and rate of accidents.

I'm in agreement.  How the general public perceives our activities affects how the authorities perceive us.

We should display model behavior in groups, and when in cities and towns.  Moving quickly on open

roads?  Well now, that's another matter altogether.

But, when rules are made, often they go too far.

  6. Here's part of the story I read.  The next thing you know,

three or more motorcycles together will be considered

gang activity.  I don't like how this reads or the tone in

    which it is presented.

A large group of motorcyclists had planned an unauthorized gathering in New York on Sunday, similar to an event held last year without permission in which the riders organized online and gathered in large groups in Times Square, the police source said.

This year, the police source said, authorities set up a series of checkpoints at bridges and tunnels to prevent the motorcycle group from gathering in large numbers in the city.

The police source said the motorcyclists who chased the SUV were believed by authorities to have been in Manhattan for the gathering.

  7. Might be down if I can get my gear wittled down to what I can carry on my bike. The big stopper is needing a cooler for all the meat and beer.

Throw on some saddle bags and mount up.  Your ride is waiting.  :D

  8. Viffer ftw! Not only because this place needs another VFR rider, but they are outstanding do-all machines without being overly powerful, yet sexy on the eyes.

VFR800 that is, not the 1200

What's the matter with the 1200 other than it's too large of a

step up for me at my riding level?
