  1. And tell me how many times have we seen case law been thrown out of court because no specific law gave anyone person power to do something. I see where your going with it. Like I said I will allow them to disarm me. I wont like it, I will voice displeasure with it, but I will comply.
  2. I am unable to find it written into any law or even in the CHL handbook that LEO are allowed to disarm, again its generally accepted that they can, and I will not argue that on the side of the road. The only thing in the CHL handbook that states anything about disarming is "If the CCW licensee surrenders the firearm, then the following applies: • If the firearm is not returned at the completion of the stop, the law enforcement officer is required to return the firearm in “the condition it was in when it was seized." I accept that for officer safety that they can and will disarm if they feel the need. However I dont like the fact that they can given I am not the one they need to worry about. Im just looking for the specific article or section of the ORC that says they can is all.
  3. That part does not say anything the enables the officer to disarm an individual. It states If a law enforcement officer stops a person to question the person regarding a possible violation of this section, for a traffic stop, or for any other law enforcement purpose, if the person surrenders a firearm to the officer, either voluntarily or pursuant to a request or demand of the officer, and if the officer does not charge the person with a violation of this section or arrest the person for any offense, the person is not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing the firearm, and the firearm is not contraband, the officer shall return the firearm to the person at the termination of the stop. If a court orders a law enforcement officer to return a firearm to a person pursuant to the requirement set forth in this division, division (B) of section 2923.163 of the Revised Code applies. The part you must be referring to is in red. That doesnt specifically entitle an officer to disarm it just entails what the officer must do if someone surrenders their firearm.
  4. There is no specific law in favor or against it. Its generally accepted that they can. Im not a fan of it because its my weapon. My military training tells me to never give up my weapon however my common sense says that if i comply it will calm a over zealous leo down and that chip on his shoulder might take a midol
  5. My cousin is a sheriff up here in shelby county and ive expressed my opinion on that very thing, he said that if the officer feels that there is a possible threat then they probably will. If they feel there is no threat then not normally. Ive not even had my first real inform yet. Since Im not a speeder I dont get pulled over that often so Im not sure when that will happen
  6. I do know he said he had everything set up with the county to be legit and that hes got all the paperwork in order that allows him to operate an outdoor range. Once weather clears Im gonna head out there and check it out
  7. Talking to him over the phone he said its just on the other side of the bridge running along the river. If its the place I think it is then its just as he says. He also stated that the actual range is about a half a mile off the road back in the woods. The link below shows the address north east of town https://maps.google.com/maps?q=8540+West+U.S.+Rt.36+Covington,+Ohio+45318&ll=40.122683,-84.349165&spn=0.029305,0.066047&hnear=8540+Ohio+Bicycle+Route+36,+Covington,+Ohio+45318&gl=us&t=h&z=15 This link shows right next to the river just west of town. http://www.bing.com/maps/#JnE9Ljg1NDAlMmJXZXN0JTJiVSUyNTQwMlMlMjU0MDIlMmJSdCUyNTQwMjM2JTJiQ292aW5ndG9uJTI1MmMlMmJPaGlvJTJiNDUzMTglN2Vzc3QuMCU3ZXBnLjEmYmI9NjMuNjMyODQzOTMzMzg3MyU3ZS0xNS4xNjY4NjI0ODclN2U1LjAxNzA3Mzc3NjI1NzYzJTdlLTE1My4xNTUxNDM3Mzc=
  8. One thing you should always consider, keeping a voice recorder app on your phone, or keep a voice recorder on you at all times. If your pulled over or stopped while walking it takes about a second to start the app or the recorder. I also always keep a copy of the AG's CHL handbook in PDF format on my phone. The biggest thing is to always cover your ass. As far as open carry or concealed. I open carry about 90% of the time, but im always cautious as to where I am at if there could be a lot of people freaked out by it then I can always cover it up. Plus it helps when you either get on the bike or in a car. Once on a motor vehicle its considered concealed. At that point without a CHL your breaking the law, so its always best to once again, cover your ass.
  9. I didnt think so for everything he is planning on offering.
  10. I love my Contour Roam. It does great. I planned to get a Roam+2 this year as well as it takes what made the Roam so good gave it what the Hero 3 has and put it in a package like the Roam. But its got the added ability of having GPS coordinates encoded into the video.
  11. For those who are curious. I spoke with Dave the owner of Dawg Valley today. He sounds like a really nice guy. Hes a CHL instructor, NRA certified pistol and rifle. Hes got lots of plans for the property up to a 800 yard rifle range, however he still has to clear the land for it. His place isnt just a gun club. Hes got camping, swimming, tubing, fishing even looking at an archery range. Club memberships are $100 a year but you get access to the full facility and all the activities. He said last year he had 5 bands out and all the memebers get free access. Hes got 5 members that are active in helping out around the place, but said he wouldnt turn down the help from others. Hes just waiting for the weather to break so he can get out there and get some of the work done. Im going to head down there after this snow storm goes through and has melted away to check the place out. Ill post back here once i am able to form a real impression
  12. Oh hell yes! Good find hellmutt. Ill have to check into the place. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  13. No actually I went to old english outfitters and bought them off the shelf. For my gun accessories i hate waiting Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  14. Im considering not modding this one at all. Ive managed to find another Mosin that is already modded really horribly done that I can pick up for 100. Ill probably just get it and mod it since its already fucked.
  15. This is just pissing me off. Last year I was riding my dads Valkyrie at this time of year with shorts.
  16. only weekday afternoons I get are Mondays. Im trying to get into a range up here in Shelby County that has a 250 yrd range for rifles. To get to 600-700 yards like I would love to I would probably have to go down to Thunder Valley.
  17. I have a Roam that I used all last summer, it worked great, however the mic sucked for riding, so I did a mic mod where I installed a mic jack on the front and used an old microphone from my old pair of Tritton gaming headsets and it worked great. There are also the XTC Midland cameras that are all across the price spectrum, the highest end one being less then a Roam. Alot of the motovloggers out there swear by the Drift Innovations Ghost and Drift HD. Those are as good as Go pro Hero2 and the Roam plus the new Drift HD has all wireless capabilities like the Hero 3 without the issues. Bout the same price as well.
  18. went out and bought 2 boxes of 9mm for my XD9. Wife needs ammo for her conceal carry class in april. also picked up 2 extended magazines for my XDs, and bagged of couple of boxes of Hornaday Zombie Max for the XD9 as well.
  19. Yeah they got a few of them on Youtube as well. Something to do with firearms...
  20. I ride the far left lane and when someone wants to pass I will get over when its convenient for me, (meaning when I dont have to slow down just to let you pass). Ive usually got no issues with people like that unless they are tailgating me. And i can tell how far away they are in my backup monitor. If they are within 12 feet they get the finger when they go by. If they get within 5 feet which several have, they get a phone call to the nearest state trooper office
  21. Those are always good Downshift has always had good videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHvLhoo0D88
  22. Ive put close to 35,000 miles on my work vehicle since August of last year, about 85% of that is on the highways. I cant recall the last time I drove 65mph or 70mph for any length of time other then accelerating to get to that cap of 75mph. At 76 my company gets an email that Im speeding.
  23. Well I have access to someone whos willing to hand load for me at a cost. I dont have the room to hand load here at my apt. My inlaws might let me out at the barn. as smccrory mentioned, I really need to shoot it to see what kind of accuracy I can get out of the barrel the way it is and go from there. But I need to find someone who is willing to let me use their range and not make me join to shoot.

    Break in?

3 breakins in 10 years, sounds like the owners need to step up their efforts in making sure their building is more secure. Say with Bars on the windows....
