  1. That movement from the Pirelli's (especially from the front under hard braking) did take a second to get used to.

Did you have to make any major ride height adjustments with the Dunlop's, Taft? And how much is a set of these normally?

Edit: I got pretty good wear from the Pirelli's, definitely waaaaay better than the Michelin's.

On my 09 zx6, I have the forks flush with the top triple. The rear I have at stock height right now because 35motorsports told me to try that first since the 09 gets more chatter if you put too much weight bias towards the front.

Bill came from Dunlops and tried Pirellis and just wasn't really expecting the wear difference. He also didn't change any set up on the bike from when he ran the Dunlops. He just adjusted the Pirellis psi to the recommended setting.

  2. ^Doesn't matter.

The Pirelli's are better than the Michelin's anyway, IMO. I'm just worried about the 190 rear with the Dunlop, I don't know why really. (They only come in 190, correct?)

The Dunlop 190 is made for a 600cc 5.5" rim.

Pirellis like to move a bunch under the bike which is something that makes me a little uneasy. Bill also noticed that the wear is not as good as the 'lops.

  3. andrew i think you will be fine. i feel like you are one of those guys that will become a better rider racing with faster guys. i did have a missed call from todd so not sure if i will be yellow or white this year.. if im still yellow i will make sure you pussys will never win a race. if im white i quit..

Don't be a quitter Bob. :nono: Just tag along with Bill and I and you will be running PRs again.

  4. a good way to tell if a chain is worn is if you can lift it off the sprocket at the back side.

+1 on this test. If the chain pulls more than half a sprocket tooth away then the chain needs replaced. I usually replace a chain once a year if it needs it or not.

  5. The gapping seams and car induced ripples and dips in the turns. Nelson has the same things, but to say Gingerman is better than Nelson is like saying you'd rather lose your leg rather than your arm. Both are shit and both suck, but are they really that much better?

Most people that say they like one crappy track over another are those that either haven't ridden both enough to know the differences or have ridden one more than another to really understand what the results can be.

I was an advocate against Nelson for the longest time. But, at a regional and track day level? It is a fine track and can be fast and rewarding. The guys that get all spoiled over tracks like Mid-O, Barber, etc and just avoid Nelson after one visit or from what people say about it are not really worthy to be talking shit about it...

I was worried about Nelson before I even showed up. Once I got there and actually rode the track it wasn't so intimidating after 3 or so sessions. Same with G-man, after 3 tank slappers in the first 2 sessions, I adjusted my riding and thought the place was pretty fun.
