Q7 was no fun, and the B5 S4 needed a brother.

Wow you bought it in the right color, I like it. Congrats on the toy. -
That was hilarious, but I sure would've felt bad if he had a heart attack. As for actual sound level, I don't know how to describe what I want. Lets say I crank up my stock system and I have to turn the bass down to keep it from distorting, lets just say double that without the distortion.

My music varies from most rock, a little rap, but most of the music I like has a broad range of sound. When I have some powered subs at my disposal I do like the few old school bass CDs I have. I doubt you guys will like this but its music I'm into, I'd want my mids and highs to play this well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4oOG4vmqBg

This sounds right, there are balancer installers out there which is what I have, however most of them don't include that size. Just go get a longer bolt it does the same thing as a balancer installer. Check out Metro Industies on Goodale, I bet they have the biggest supply of Metric bolts in Columbus. I got a couple different lengths of that size when i did my first cam install. You'll find that bolt is not easy to come by.

Don't make fun of Nascar, just because its developed a bad rep for being loved by dumbass rednecks and morons, doesn't mean all its fans are. Of course I drive a Camaro and a truck and bitched about toyota joining Nascar so take that with a grain of salt.

Whats a qts motor? How well would bass work under my back seat as opposed to removing the seat and building something bigger? I'd like to keep the back seat and hide most of it, but on the other hand I want loud. I certainly don't need near the bass that I experienced in your truck, but you'll remember I didn't flinch when I sat in it either. I like loud music, louder then your average person. Highs I'm fine with, I'll prabably blow any mids-highs up anyway, I've had to replace the speakers in every one of my cars, even the nicer Pioneer speakers I've had. The speakers I put in the Camaro are shit now too, I don't even listen to them anymore. Let me put it like this, when I spend money on something I use the shit out of it. Why's my Camaro always broke? because I beat on it constantly. Why was the last system I had rebuilt a few times in the 2 years I had it? mostly because it was cranked to the max every day I drove the truck, and this was with the nicest shit Best Buy sold 11-12 years ago. So what would it take to have speakers amped up and cranked, and actually have them last?

Well whenever you want to see the truck and talk about how to put a nice reasonable system together let me know. I don't really want to have a 50 PM discussion. I did think of PMing you, especially when Dyno Brian says you know what you're doing, but I'm just in the getting ideas together and planning what I'm going to do and how I'm going to sell it to the wife.

Could you point me in the direction of some of these articles? I want to learn more about it before I start spending money.

I have a 2010 Silverado ext cab as some of you know and I am getting interested in doing a nice car audio set-up. I want to come up with a plan and put together something that sounds good with excellent clarity but is capable of being loud. I really want to make the truck feel like a concert hall. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I know in most cases you get what you pay for but lets keep it in reason. The truck is a base model so it doesn't even have a CD player, I don't mind removing everything thats in it currently including the back seat, speakers, head unit, I don't care, those of you who know me know that like getting great results. I've never been very knowegable in car audio, having worked as an electrician I understand all the basics. Good wiring, proper routing, and proper power and ground sources are a given. I built a system when I was about 19 in my extended cab S10 that sounded okay, made out of Best Buy's finest products (I didn't know any better back then), whatever the best Fosgate subs they sold back then, I had 2 10s and 2 12s, 2 6x9s, 2 6.5s, and 2 4x6s, with a 500w rms amp for the highs and a 2 channel 500w rms amp for the subs. This sounded okay and was loud enough but didn't have the clarity I was after. I'm sure there are some better components out there for the money. Don't just throw brands out there, lets hear how you would build a system for my truck. Would you use Dynamat? How would your power supply be put together? Your only limitations are the basic cab design of the truck (I'm not willing to do any major cutting), and that we are not looking at a competition truck but high quality loud truck, no bass drowning out everything else, but it does need good bass.

There are no holes on a stock LS1 balancer for bolts to thread into, try again.
-
There is a special puller for gripping the 3 little tabs on the inside of the balancer, I have a universal 3 jaw that I use on these but the special tool works much better. Mine looks like this. http://image.carcraft.com/f/9203796+w750+st0/116_0502_08_z+ls1_cam_swap+harmonic_balancer_pull.jpg The special tool which is a little nicer is smaller like this one. http://www.usatoolwarehouse.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/otc-6667.gif

Well those steals on houses have got to be a clue. Blacklick isn't too bad if you avoid one specific area off of Waggoner Rd, there is section 8 there and kills that little neighborhood.
-
Licking Heights is good if you want to come out east, Reynoldsburg, Groveport, and Whitehall are not places I'd want my kid to go. Take it from someone who has been in over his head, leave yourself room financially, homes are full of unforseen expenses. Better to be modest about what you buy, then be selling the house you wanted so bad because the shit got deep.

I had a S10 when my daughter was little, I just turned the airbag off. It had a switch, but if it didn't I'd just pull the fuse. I didn't have much choice back then, but I don't see what the big deal is. I say let her ride with you Clay, you might as well get over being over-protective now because as they get older there are lots of things that can get them hurt, and you can't keep kids locked up and safe from everything.

This doesn't sound like anything that would come on anything but a Porsche. Good luck with this, maybe a question better asked on a Porsche forum. Unless you want to spend a pretty penny on custom wheels. I also bet if you went to 17s you'd get more results.

Sell it and spend more time out doing something. I hate sitting around, and I don't care for video games, so I guess my opinion is a little bias.

Well I doubt an EGR would cause those symtoms. Is it an auto? Vacuum modulated? Maybe that has something to do with it happening in gear. I really don't know, but maybe something to check.
-
No the plate is designed to bolt behind a stock LS1 TB. Could always substitute the plate with a nozzle if someone wanted, then it would be universal with jetting for a 58psi fuel system.
-
Something has to be creating a vacuum leak, faulty EGR system?, faulty TB?, something like that. Be curious to see on a scan tool, maybe that that buggered up TPS isn't moving with the throttle blade like its supposed to.

Same kit I have on my car, really good kit with room to grow. Bump for a good deal.

Junkyards suck anymore, why bother? I mean if you're looking for random parts to some late 80s, 90s average POS that they made a gazillion of then your good, cruise down to which ever yard you like and find what you want. However if you need something specific, or desireable you'd better get on the web and track that shit down. Most yards that have the more specific stuff that hotrodders want will have it on the web somewhere, ebay or craigslist. Personally I don't care to deal with people no matter how nice they are so I stick with the web.

I miss my S10s, but only cause I'm centi-mental. They weren't anything special, but they were mine. I liked having a system in the second S10 back in the day. I was 24 before I got the Camaro, I'm glad it wasn't my first car or I might of got rid of it. Now nobody would want it anyway.

Pretty funny except for the dumb bitch at the end.
