  1. On a side note, I made my daughter an authorized user on my 2 oldest/highest limit credit cards, didn’t even give her the cards (not going to), but now my 18 year old, who has never had any debt, has a better credit score then I do. Fuck this credit racket.
  2. My debt to income ratio isn’t the best but it’s decent, I do believe that one of the reasons my score stays in the high 700s is my 20k+ in open credit accounts with no balance. These are also some of my oldest accounts so I don’t close them. When I used one card to buy parts for my Camaro earlier this year (10k or so) my score was down to 710, paid it back off by October and now my score is back to 785.

I’m sure everyone is different so take my example however you want.

  3. Someone stop me if there is a better way, but I have always left the stock crank bolt in a couple threads and used a 3 jaw puller to remove them. I use a threaded rod from Fastenal m16x2.0 with a washer and a nut to pull it on (lock the crank from moving). Always works for me.

You can certainly do it that way. The puller that is made for them is easier to use then a typical 3 jaw. An installer made for it typically has a bearing in it and is just easier to use also. Being a GM tech of course I have these things, but I have done it the same way you have in the past and it works fine.

    Something like this

  4. Should just be the same GM/Chrysler puller that’s been around for a long time. Parts store should have that for rent. The correct pulley installer is not as easy. If you can find the appropriate 16mm long reach installer at a parts store for rent I’d be surprised, but it’s become quite popular so...
  5. After all the headaches I had with C5 in 2019, I parted it out in the fall and focused my attention to having fun in my old Camaro again.

Already swapped the LS6 from the Vette into the car, and replaced the T56 with a T56 Magnum. Had that running and driving before winter. Working on a supercharger setup now, and will be rewiring the nitrous. Hoping to be a very streetable 800rwhp and trying to keep torque down for longevity. Will also be going through my 9” and replacing the 4.10s with 3.25s. Will basically be a brand new car for 2020. I’ve never banged gears into the 10s so that’s my personal goal, should be a good all around toy.

  6. Also for all you F body guys a 1994 Z28 out on FB without a title for $800. The outside is very dirty and interior rough (Might be an impounded one). Looks like a great project or race car (Believe this is a LT1)

Add a pack of Pall Mall's and a mullet and you've got a COFBA starter kit.

I’m an fbody guy, and I wouldn’t touch that pile of fail and aids.

  7. Not a good daily, they have to be treated differently to even be reasonable. You have to get them hot and drive them, starting them cold and shutting them off before you get them hot and driving them usually floods them. The automatic ones are the worst, with a manual you can properly rev it to keep it cleaned out, they need to be taken to redline regularly. They are also designed to consume oil in order to lubricate everything, and is why many built rotaries use 2 stroke oil in the gas.

They can be a great car, but it’s not for someone to drive every day. Makes an interesting toy.

  8. Pace, Jegs, or Scoggin Dickey will be your best bet for that type of crate engine. Jasper and Blueprint also will have what you need I think since you're not looking for monster power.

I've only worked with Scoggin Dickey on a professional level and they've been great. I know a lot of people go through Pace as well, plus they're based in Ohio so you can go pick the engine up. If you want to save cash hit up O'Doyle on here and see if he can get you a deal at Jegs.

Jasper engine have developed a horrible reputation, and alot of shops will not even deal with them anymore. I’d probably shy away.

FYI Jeg’s employees can’t even get the engines cheaper then what the customer pays, when I worked there they had no mark up in them at all. Basically using them to sell all their other parts to bolt on it. Don’t be surprised when this stuff from GM is basically priced at bottom dollar as it is.

  9. I'm not on FB anymore, so are they talking about shutting the site down?

Not yet, but there hasn’t been much activity and Anthony has considered it. He has also told me that he’ll keep it as long as people want it, so hopefully people will continue to use it and give him reason to keep it functioning.

  10. Who still has the same car they joined CR with?

    Who still has an f-body?

Who still has a “fun car” at all?

It’s winter time, there’s not much going on, so let’s have a poll. What the hell.

Of course the answer for me on all 3 of those is yes. Had a few other cars to play with but always kept my Camaro.
