  1. I wouldn't even try it! First off, if a State Trooper sees it you will be ticketed. Hell, I have had multiple people come into my lane and almost take me out while gabbing on a cell phone. I have had people enraged at me because I legally passed them and they have tried to keep up with me, without success of course!! Like everyone has said, Ohio drivers are idiots and will run you off the road just because you are on a bike.

  2. That is a nice ride!  I was looking at Gen2 FZ1 and the Z1000 as a replacement for my wrecked bike last year, but couldn't find one in my price range.  Would have loved to have talked to you then.  Ended up getting another Gen1 FZ1 I found in Indiana that I couldn't pass up.  Good luck with your sale!

  3. The mounting points for the books of the frame sliders are often hidden behind the fairing of some sportbikes. No cut means the frame sliders are offset so you don't have to cut into the fairings. Regular (cut) sliders means you may have to drill a hole in the fairings because the mounting of the sliders are just straight out from where they bolt to the bike. Think of drilling a hole like a door knob. Not sure what it is like for the FZ1, but assume you should be fine.

Thanks, that makes sense.  I guess i don't have to worry about that since i have a naked bike.

  4. Pro Tek and Shogun are a couple of others I have seen that are available. Any input on the quality of these? This may be a stupid question, but whats the difference between cut and no cut?

  5. I remember the days of owning multiple mag lights. I still have them in every vehicle. They are nothing like some of the new LED flashlights I have now. I bought my son a coast single LED and he has had it for years. Loves it and uses it for everything. That reminds me, I need to check my batteries in my flashlight I keep in the bike. Never know when you might need it!

  6. Let's get terminology right here, because it is important.  When you say major medical coverage you mean 'Bodily Injury' right?  If so, yes what you describe is how it works.  It is liability coverage for medical expenses of people you injure.......which would include passengers.

Yes you are correct. I just never asked the question and assumed the driver is included. Found out the good ol fashioned way.

  7. Another thing to keep in mind is the major medical coverage you carry does not cover the driver, only passengers. This is the same for car insurance. I got to experience this with my accident after my helicopter ride with life flight which cost us $28,500!! Not to mention all the other medical costs. My policy with my insurance co. gave me $5,000 and that is it for my medical expenses. I have full coverage with $250,000 for major medical. After doing some research we found out this only covers the passengers and our insurance agent said the most they offer you can have on the policy is $10,000 for the driver, so we increased all our auto/bike policies to that. It only cost us a few buck more a year. Believe me it's worth it. Some insurance companies only offer $5,000 max. All this time I have carried full coverage on all my vehicles thinking I would be covered across the board if there is an accident and that is just not the case. Talk to your insurance agent!!

  8. I have Allstate and they have been great. My rates have not increased in years. We are bundled with house and cars. When I had my no fault accident they gave me more than I expected for my bike and gear. I was shocked as I have heard many stories of people having to fight with the claims people to get a fair price for their motorcycle. I also was shocked to see my rate stay the same after my accident when I got my new bike. I highly recommend them as an option.

  9. Helmets have to get crystal clear in the dark. Most, if not all regular Pin Loc's are illegal at night because they don't allow enough light through even though they are not tinted. I suspect that is the issue. Fast and crystal clear so you don't have to remove them.

Now I never remove mine at night, but it is a marketing issue I suspect. Plus really...who the hell is going to pay 150 bucks for a visor like this...heck who is going to pay 100.

I don't remove my tinted visor either. I didn't want to have to carry two visors like my friends do. I try not to do much night riding so it really isn't an issue, but there have been a few late rides back home and it is harder to see. I needed a new helmet after my accident so I decided that whatever helmet I get will have the integrated tinted lens. I ended up purchasing a Shoei with the built in sun visor so now it's not an issue for me. Once they figure out the tuning on the auto transition you will start to see it as an option with all the manufacturers. Then the price will come down.

  10. I guess I don't understand what the difficulty is with creating the transition visor. I have transition lense glasses and they go from clear to dark in a few seconds. I wonder if it's the material they need to use to meet DOT standards. If that's the case, a clear visor with a stick on insert that could statically cling to the inside of the visor could be a viable solution.

  11. +1 on the whole thread!  I bring someone with me on every transaction especially cars or motorcycles and they all have went well.  When selling a bike or car have someone with you and meet in a neutral place preferably somewhere with cameras, this keeps them away from your house.  Before you even start the chit chat, don't be afraid to flat out ask to see the cash and its cash in hand to test ride the bike and a motorcycle endorsement on a license PERIOD!  I have heard some horror stories with this and people getting screwed.  If they are serious about purchasing, they will show you the money or they are just wasting everyone's time window shopping.  All of my bike sales have went smooth.

  12. I'm glad there is 2.5 hours between me and the Pony. I'd spend way too much money.

You got that right! I try to stop at the Pony when I am close to Columbus and usually don't leave without buying something. It's like a kid in a candy store for me.
