  1. Do you think you'll run the camera for 8 hours???  If so, let me know what your YouTube channel is so I can avoid it like the plague.  :burnout:

    I didn't say I plan to record 8 hours of straight video.  What I am saying is when I ride its 500 Miles + a trip which equals a long day!  I ride with a group of guys with communications.  It would be nice to have enough battery to last most of the ride and get the best of booth worlds.  If you have a standard setup with communication and a separate camera, you will get 10-12 hours of continuous communications plus 2 hours of video.  For long rides and trips, that sounds better to me.

    Yup, I think everyone has told them the same thing.  No luck involved.  My father-in-law had jumped out the safety on the snowblower because it added more time to get the driveway cleared when he had to restart it every time he had to stop and clear the chute.  In my opinion its not worth loosing a limb over.  :(

Great idea combining the communications with the camera.  The only issue for me is the battery life.  If you use the camera and communications at the same time you are looking at a 2 hour battery life, which is too short in my opinion.  Need to get the battery to last 8 hours and then I am sold!

Sorry to hear you lost part of a finger.  That really sucks.  We had a family catastrophe where this happened twice!  First, my uncle lost two fingers to the first knuckle with a wood chipper when he tried to pull some debris away from the bottom of the shute where the chips exit.  A stick cam free and shot a chunk of wood through his leather gloves.  The same year my father-in-law lost fingers to the first knuckle sticking his hand in a snow thrower to clear the shute.  Just goes to show this shit can happen at any time to anyone!  Hope you heal up soon.

What worked for me was making a trip to the Iron Pony and trying on everything they had and then slimming down the choices based on my purchasing criteria, price, fit, ratings, etc. Once you figure out what you are looking for, you can look it up online for the best price. That way you have your size and fit figured out already. I ended up with a Shoei GT Air. I know most HJC helmets will be in your price range as well as some others. I owned a few HJCs and never had any complaints.

  6. Good to hear everything is ok. Any time you put her down and are able to get up with minor damage to you and the bike is a good day in my book! Everyone goes down at some point. Best thing to do is get back on the horse and keep riding!

  7. I usually wet wash with a sponge and a rag(no hose) and dry. Then finish with Honda polish (The Original). If the bike is really trashed I use Bike Brite with the pressure washer or hose. I don't use full pressure with pressure washer as you could force water into seals or areas that shouldn't see water. The pressure washer can also bend the fins on the radiator in a flash, so you have to be careful! I seem to remember a thread on cleaning the bike a while back. You may want to search for it. It has some good info on cleaning the bike and what everyone uses.

  8. My bike is carbureted, so if I don't ride the bike for a while I have had issues with the ethanol causing the pilot jets to clog. I run Yamalube fuel stabalizer in my last fill up before I park it. Haven't had a problem since. There are Ethanol free gas stations located across the state. Look them up on the Internet. I have one about 30 min. from the house. I fill all my fuel jugs for the mowers and trimmers with Ethanol free gas.

  9. I personally am not a fan of the internal sun visor. I rock my mirrored shields all day every day. My new multi colored mirrored shield is slightly lighter than my other mirrored shield. I can ride at night with no issues. But I also don't live out in the boondocks so there are streetlights everywhere I am going at night normally.

    Nothing beats the blacked out look of a helmet with a tinted visor.  I have worn my tinted visor like you have for years and never switched it out at night.  I could see ok enough to get home.  Got ribbed by everyone for not switching over to a clear lens.  I live in the boondocks, no streetlights, so riding home from a late ride with no other riders or cars in front of you to light the road ahead does suck!  So I decided when I buy a new helmet, to get one with the sun visor.  Now I have a Shoei and I love it.  Use the visor all day and at dusk flip it up.  Works great and safer too!
