  1. Haven't been out yet. Roads have been so shitty around here. Need to get mine out for a shakedown ride. Just need to do some suspension setup as this will be my first season with the new bike.
  2. I was thinking about getting some frame sliders for my FZ1. Any suggestions?

    Led headlamp

I remember the days of owning multiple mag lights. I still have them in every vehicle. They are nothing like some of the new LED flashlights I have now. I bought my son a coast single LED and he has had it for years. Loves it and uses it for everything. That reminds me, I need to check my batteries in my flashlight I keep in the bike. Never know when you might need it!
  4. A cop isn't going to care what rating or type of helmet you are wearing as long as it not a hard hat from a construction site. Then again I could always put a DOT sticker on it!
  5. Yes you are correct. I just never asked the question and assumed the driver is included. Found out the good ol fashioned way.
  6. Another thing to keep in mind is the major medical coverage you carry does not cover the driver, only passengers. This is the same for car insurance. I got to experience this with my accident after my helicopter ride with life flight which cost us $28,500!! Not to mention all the other medical costs. My policy with my insurance co. gave me $5,000 and that is it for my medical expenses. I have full coverage with $250,000 for major medical. After doing some research we found out this only covers the passengers and our insurance agent said the most they offer you can have on the policy is $10,000 for the driver, so we increased all our auto/bike policies to that. It only cost us a few buck more a year. Believe me it's worth it. Some insurance companies only offer $5,000 max. All this time I have carried full coverage on all my vehicles thinking I would be covered across the board if there is an accident and that is just not the case. Talk to your insurance agent!!
  7. I have Allstate and they have been great. My rates have not increased in years. We are bundled with house and cars. When I had my no fault accident they gave me more than I expected for my bike and gear. I was shocked as I have heard many stories of people having to fight with the claims people to get a fair price for their motorcycle. I also was shocked to see my rate stay the same after my accident when I got my new bike. I highly recommend them as an option.
  8. I don't remove my tinted visor either. I didn't want to have to carry two visors like my friends do. I try not to do much night riding so it really isn't an issue, but there have been a few late rides back home and it is harder to see. I needed a new helmet after my accident so I decided that whatever helmet I get will have the integrated tinted lens. I ended up purchasing a Shoei with the built in sun visor so now it's not an issue for me. Once they figure out the tuning on the auto transition you will start to see it as an option with all the manufacturers. Then the price will come down.
  9. I guess I don't understand what the difficulty is with creating the transition visor. I have transition lense glasses and they go from clear to dark in a few seconds. I wonder if it's the material they need to use to meet DOT standards. If that's the case, a clear visor with a stick on insert that could statically cling to the inside of the visor could be a viable solution.

I could cut the grass in the dark with that baby!
  11. +1 on the whole thread! I bring someone with me on every transaction especially cars or motorcycles and they all have went well. When selling a bike or car have someone with you and meet in a neutral place preferably somewhere with cameras, this keeps them away from your house. Before you even start the chit chat, don't be afraid to flat out ask to see the cash and its cash in hand to test ride the bike and a motorcycle endorsement on a license PERIOD! I have heard some horror stories with this and people getting screwed. If they are serious about purchasing, they will show you the money or they are just wasting everyone's time window shopping. All of my bike sales have went smooth.
  12. Welcome to the OR! Glad you were ok after your accident. Looked pretty bad from the picture. Glad to hear your back on two wheels!
  13. Lol!! Tell me about it, my wife and kids all have Pony t-shirts.
  14. You got that right! I try to stop at the Pony when I am close to Columbus and usually don't leave without buying something. It's like a kid in a candy store for me.
  15. Welcome to the OR! Like the ride, have heard good things about the FZ09. I have had an FZ1 for many years and have considered the FZ09 as an option down the road. You should come out to the Epic Ride in May, good opportunity to meet everyone and show off your ride!
  16. Welcome to the OR! I used to have an 83 Shadow 750 with the same pipes. It was my first bike. Rode it for 3 seasons before I lost a big end bearing. This was after a new paint job and some other investments. I decided to rebuild her and got her back on the road. Ended up selling her and upgrading to a FZ1. I have a lot of good memories with that bike!
  17. That's good to know. I figured it would break in. Just a little tight getting it on, but I am sure it will feel incredible after a few rides.
  18. My buddy just bought a Neotec as he always wanted a modular helmet for those quick stops for gas so you don't have to take the helmet off. It fit his melon the best and the integrated visor didn't touch his nose. I was considering the same helmet, just didn't have an extra $100 to throw down for the modular and got the GT Air instead. Haven't really tried on a Bell. Next time I'm at the Pony I will check them out.
  19. The circumference of my head measured at the forehead just above the ears is a little over 23" which puts me in a Shoei Large helmet. I still highly recommend trying them on to see if it fits properly as all helmets fit differently as everyone's skull is not the same. Its tight on me, but still new and havent broken it in yet. XL was too loose. My concerns were wearing my glasses and whether the internal visor would clear them and not touch my nose. The GT Air worked perfectly for me as there are recesses for my glasses and the internal visor clears them and my nose. A few others I tried on would not. Another factor is how much hair you have. I wear my hear very short so its not a factor for me. Just some things to consider before purchasing, hope this helps!
  20. +1 on the Shoei GT Air. Just bought one at the Pony. I tried on a lot of helmets and I kept going back to the GT Air. It's very comfortable and has an integrated sun visor which is a plus for me. My last helmet was a HJC and had a tinted visor which was great during the day but sucked at dusk. I really liked my HJC, but wanted something a little more comfortable for someone who wears glasses. The Shoei has recesses for my glasses so they are not pressed against my ears which can be distracting during a long ride. You can tell its a quality helmet by all the refinement, but it's costs way more than other helmets.
  21. Welcome to the OR! Hearing a lot of good feedback about the FZ09. Let me know how she rides.
  22. Welcome to the OR! Nice bike! I have a 2004 FZ1 and love it. If you can, try and get out to the Epic Ride in May. Its a great way to introduce yourself and put some faces to the names from the site.
  23. State Rte 94 from Rte 18 going south to Wadsworth is like driving over speed bumps for miles. Road is buckled at most seams on both sides all the way into town. Couldn't imagine riding a bike over it.
  24. +1 on the Joe Rocket gear. Great choice on the Atomic jacket. I just bought the same one. It is a very comfortable jacket.
  25. When I went down on gravel in a turn last summer my jeans and gloves were gone in a millisecond with my skin. I was thrown from the bike and I hit a tree with my lower back at about 50 MPH. I was wearing a textile jacket with armor. It saved my back and elbows. Impact permanently crushed the foam panel in the back of my jacket. I kept it to show people. It did the job it was created to do. Because of God and my gear I get to ride again. Yes it can get a little warm when stopped or in traffic, but comfortable when riding and I don't feel the armor. I just purchased a Joe Rocket textile jacket with armor and multiple openings for ventilation. Wasn't too pricey at the pony, I think it was $129. Bough good racing gloves as well. Also going to be using my textile riding pants this year. They have armor too and I wish I had them on when I went down. Not going to make that mistake again! Hope this helps. See you all at the Epic Ride!
