  1. Ride was fun! Started out with back to back crashes on the initial climb. Just got em out the way right off the bat! I tend to bounce up and go after wards and left my phone behind, luckily it was spotted by motocat12 and retrieved. Thanks!

Mohican can be brutal, but wasn't to bad. Getting your ass kicked on the trails beats a day in the office!

  2. Field was about 18 riders. Got off to start and all were just going around the loop at a decent clip, nothing to crazy. There was a decent head wind on the curvy area by the park. I think on the third lap in a cash preem was announced, which really didn't cause an attack until through the curvey areas with the last 300 meters of lap for an all out sprint. I tried, but still learning all the tricks and tactics, was out sprinted. Finshed 5th in preem sprint, not horrible but no $ for me! Will be working on sprints. Things settled back in and all stayed together. I made another error in taking back to back pulls into the wind, not by choice. No one would take my place, did earn some street cred in doing so though! After those 2 laps, the A group caught up with us and this caused an attack, which supposedly isn't allowed. Not supposed to hop onto the other group, but o well. Being at the back of the pack from my 2 pulls, I couldn't respond to go along. With 2 or 3 laps to go, I made it to the front of the pack. Feeling OK, I tried to bridge the gap, but couldn't and it didn't seem like others were working together to do so. I stayed at the front of the group and sprinted out the finish and finished third or 4th behind the lead group so overall like 8th.

I know I was making a few mistakes when I was doing them, but wanted to see how hard I could push and still stay alive. See how many matches I've got to burn. I had an absolute blast and will be racing every Tues.

  3. Every Tuesday there is a crit race held by Roman Park in Westlake. I have done it once in the past when I first started cycling and got dropped, but never since. Heading out there tonight and hope to keep at it for the rest of the season. Goal is to finish with the pack!

It runs till the end of June with more laps added each week if anyone cares to make it up sometime. I'll be the guy at the end dying!

  4. These trails always kick my ass! Went to ride with the Spin group, damn they are fast! Got some creaking from bike and chain started jumping around. Think seat needs to be tightened up and cables need adjusting, hoping I didn't bend my derailleur. Finally got to use the flybys feature on Strava, kinda cool to see everyone go racing past.

  5. Working part time at a bike shop has its perks! Got to take out this 2017 Specialized Roubaix Comp for my normal Tuesday group ride. The ride is definitely more relaxed then my Cervelo and sits a bit more upright. Would be good for those longer, all day rides! It wasn't until we hit some rough road that the bike truly shined. I was skeptical of the Future Shock and funny seat post set up, but the road that normally rattles my fillings out on the Cervelo was silky smooth. While others in the group moaned, I was floating over all the imperfections the street had to offer and smiled as I rolled past them. Not to mention Ultegra/105 groupset handled all my shifting needs easily. I like a more aggressive set up on my bikes, but if I was looking for an all day, rough road, gravel grinder, the Roubaix would be on my list for sure!

  6. Turning 40 has its perks... added Wahoo Bolt computer and PowerTap P1 pedals. Love them both! I was using a Garmin 510 that I stole from the misses a while back cuz she wasnt using it. I think the Bolt is way better than the Garmin unit. If in the market for a cycling computer, I would highly suggest a Wahoo Bolt!

Went to Mohican yesterday with the misses and did the short loop of 6 miles on the MTB using Bolt for tracking. Got home and chased rabbits through the metro park for over 50 miles to pair pedals, worked flawlessly and all was super easy to set up!

  7. Would anyone be able to do Mohican on a Friday sometime? I am at the shop on weekends and office days are paid days off so I try to get out on Fridays. Thinking a Friday in May, maybe kick off memorial weekend?

  8. Welcome to bike riding in NEO...

I started using trainerroads this winter and have enjoyed it a lot. Coming from someone who hated riding on a trainer previous seasons. Im OK with the thought of hitting the trainer hard Oct-April and being fast in May!
