I'd be happy to escort the group from the Springfield meet point. I live in Columbus now but that's not that far away. Snot/Helmutt - would you suggest using the separate thread to advertise the Springfield particulars versus leaving it in the main thread? Derek, I'm in for the slow group and I can sweep as well.

13 degrees this afternoon, snow and ice on the driveway and the street. Nothing to do except clean and lube the chain! Ok I started it up and idled for a bit too, then drove it the 10 feet back into the corner of the garage. Sigh, just a few more weeks right?

Iron Pony has s20s on sale, 109 for the rear but the date code is 2012 if fresh rubber matters to you.
-
Hit the Pony yesterday and picked up a new old stock bridgestone s20 for the rear, front is good for at least two more seasons more or less. Re-installed the wheel today with my son manning the rubber mallet. Set the chain tension, clean and lube, then parked my ass on the couch for the afternoon. Found my practice cones, going to take the new tire to a parking lot nearby and scrub it in.

Same here, got back from riding 374 in Hocking Hills and while I was pumping gas at the end of the ride, I saw the telltale ridges of the cords. Scooted back home and hooked up the battery tender while I figure out when to buy some new rubber.

OH-374 Found this via Google because I was looking for something to practice on and what a great beginner road! Taking 33 east from pickerington, 374 is about 10 miles south of lancaster. It goes right up into Hocking hills in a shortish loop that you can either end at 33 on the southeast end via 188 or turn around and do it in reverse. For those not comfortable doing the epic ride, this is a good road to learn on I think. Out and back is about two hours.

Yep, cheap foamies here too but I bought a bulk box at Fastenal. I tried the filtering style and they are pretty good too but not substantially better than foamies.

Props for the dancing banana!

Inline 4 do require a different technique for operation than injection but I had outstanding performance on my thundercat after a clean and balance. I never worried about clogs as I rode regularly and ran techron a couple times a year. Last fall I resurrected a 90s virago with carbs and once clean and balanced it was straight too. Carbs aren't bad once you know their limits and how they behave.

It's a 2012 and the tires are original. I didn't check the sidewall to see what the max pressure is but I think that's what the po may have referred to instead of the manual or sticker on the swingarm.
-
Both were over 50 and I think the front might have actually been closer to 70. I've seen a lot of tires underinflated but never so far over.
-
Installed the led license plate light and took it out for a spin. Checked pressure on the tires and both were way over the spec. PO must have had a reason, maybe not but now I know why the grip felt so weird in turns.
-
Ordered a bag of nylon rivets to replace some missing from various body panels. eBay from the UK is still cheaper than oem by a factor of five!
-
Took the rear end apart looking for a license plate light that didn't exist. PO did the tail tidy thing along with the integrated turn signal taillight and called it a day there. I had to pop the seat to put the battery tender leads in the battery anyway so I decided to figure out why the license plate had no light. Shame this vendor didn't put it in the brake light but an aftermarket light is on the way.

It's tricky finding out a combo of gear that works for the conditions and your particular comfort level. I think a lot of riders have multiple jackets , gloves, boots to suit the conditions and that's probably where you'll be down the road. Iron pony here in Columbus has some decent closeout stuff reasonably priced, come up and check it out sometime. Pm me if you do and I'll meet you up there and give you my two cents over a soda if you like.

Took a trip to the title office and bmv so the man won't catch me riding dirty. And speaking of dirty, took the windshield off so I could clean the dash and instrumentation area.
-
Chain is clean! Motorex chain cleaner X2 and then Dupont chain saver lube. I thought the chain was all black when I started from the dirt buildup and grime ?
-
Played a little, "replace the screws the PO left out". Buttoned up all the exhaust covers and then removed the chain guard to do a little scrub-a-dub tomorrow. PO did not maintain the chain, EVER :-0
-
Oh snap, thundercat! I just sold my 2007 a few weeks ago to a guy on the west side. Ah she was beautiful with a wide, comfy seat and green led backlighting on the instruments that looked like a fighter jet. Welcome to OR!
-
Re-installed the original muffler. PO had taken it off and put an awful gp style turn out pipe on the cat outlet. No servo delete and no tune. To be fair, it did sound kinda cool although a bit buzzy above 7k RPM. I think eventually I'll get a new muffler because stock is too quiet.

Traded the V-rod for this sexy zx-6r! Had to do the swap in Kentucky but I think we both made out really well. I was looking for a supersport and he was jonesin for a muscle cruiser. Win win and the rain hasn't started yet ?
-
Say man, post that shiznay to YouTube and the link it jefe!
-
Polished and waxed the paintwork on the V-ROD. It was in pretty good shape to begin with but because the seat rubs the lower portion of the airbox cover, I'd say I got a solid 7/10 correction in the minor scuffs and holograms. A bike is never so beautiful as the day you sell it!
