  1. What's the final tally (as of now, so I guess not so final) of who's going on what day? I'm on the fence whether I'll be up Fri or Sat because now they're saying chance of showers either day, depending on what weather site I check.

I'm leaning toward Fri right now. Weather looks slightly better, prolly won't be as busy, but I'll have to haul ass the night before to get everything ready.

    Friday for sure. Saturday maybe.

  2. I still haven't decided if I am riding this Saturday. I'll wait and see how tired I am at the end of the day Friday. I have three gift certificates that I bought plus Friday, just have to decide when to use them.

I plan on sleeping in the back of the truck to save money on hotel rooms. Are there some places near by to get some dinner or should I take something to cook? Also, are there showers?

  3. Gates typically open around 7.  There sometimes is a line, but I think they are allowing camping so, the gates may be open sooner.  See ya there Friday and Saturday...  Will be teaching the classroom stuff for Intermediate.  Basically, teaching you how to try and come to grips with the track.  We will talk how to take certain parts of the track and I will be watching from the keyhole, off back straight and carousel through the day and trying to help everyone along.

Thanks.  I'll plan on leaving the office around 3:00 or so then.

  4. Does anyone know what time the gates will open on Thursday the 17th for Friday's track day?

Anyone?  I'm trying to figure out what time I am going to leave work on Thursday to get there, get set up, and get some sleep.

  5. That sounds awful! What was the temp?

Someone said 44 at one point.  I don't believe it ever went over 50.  After my first full session after lunch (and after it quit raining) my hands were so cold and hurt so bad I had to have someone help me take my gloves off.  To make it better that was my first ever track day.

  6. Bought a new one piece suit, a chest / spine protector and a new undersuit. I can't wait to get on the track.

I also finished working on my track bike.

    I'm the red power ranger.

  7. Kind of bored so checking my bike over today and playing around with safety wiring.  Most of the bike is already done but some of it has holes but no wire.

Very relieved to see that the oil drain bolt and filter are already wired.  I can't believe how little room there is to get in there to change the filter though.

I did get to practice safety wiring on the front brake.  I don't think I did too bad.  I wish the previous owner had drilled two holes in each bolt but they didn't.

Anyway, I plan to have everything safety wired even though I'll be riding novice.

  8. I spoke to a very nice lady this morning and I paid for another track day. Since it's my first track day there (and thanks to Rusty) I received a discount but I did have to pick a date.

She told me the four day rule applies and I will be able to cancel or postpone a day.

See you all on April 18th and 19th. Bring on the sun!

  9. I would think you need to schedule the track days at once, not buy gift certificates at once. However rusty may know best with this. Last year they were pushing this at there opening day saying you could still qualify if you signed up for more.

If I can get ahold of someone there or get someone to call me back I'll find out.

  10. If you already bought 3 days call midohio and tell them you just bought 3,and you want one more,so you got the option to reschedule one day if need it.if you don't care about the reschedule option, you can buy another day later.to be eligible for the track day in October, you must purchase least 4 track days the entire season.if you have 7 + days ,you will participate in raffle, where you can win free next season .

Thank you for everything. I have called and left them a message to call me back.

  11. Yes.if you buy 4 ,you can reschedule one day for any reason, and you can do that day after the track day,and you qualify for apriciation day in October.buy 4 ,get one free.

So I just need to buy one more or would I have had to buy all four at once?

  12. Buyone more and you get invited to the free track day in October! Assuming they have it again this year that is.

I bought four gift certs back in January when they were $25 off each one. Can't wait for some warm weather!

Is it necessary to buy all four at once?

  13. Get plenty of sleep before your Novice day's,they are long and exhausting !

But well worth every minute !

I'll do my best. I will probably be sleeping in the parking lot the night before.

  14. Lowcel , you'll do just fine. Biggest thing I can tell you is to come ready to learn, and be open minded. I learned more in my first track day , than I did in 5 years of riding on the street .

I have no problem being open minded and I really want to learn, improve, and eventually move up. I just want to learn to do all of these things without being a danger to myself or anyone else out there.

  15. After two session we move riders to either faster,or slower group if need it.

Every session we start first 2laps easy to make sure everybody have tires warm up.

You will have plenty time to put your warmers on and go to class.

Stop at garage # 5 before tech,I help you thru the day.

    Thank you.

  16. It's tough to guess at the beginning which group to be in, but i would say they are pretty flexible.  Just keep talking to your instructor and they'll let you know.  If you've done at least a few track days at other tracks, you would probably be in one of the higher groups.

This will be my first track day anywhere.  I've been riding on the street for a while but I realize that means nothing when it comes to track riding.
