  1. I did a novice day last summer, and you shouldn't need warmers or any other elaborate gear.  They are very rider friendly.  They do break you into groups by level (self evaluation).  The first few sessions a very slow, then as each group gets comfortable, the instructors up the pace a little.  Each rider gets some individual evaluation by the instructor and you can ask as many questions as you like.  I thoroughly enjoyed it, and will be back (hopefully on the July 18th).

Will they change the groups up after the first session or two?  I have absolutely no idea which group I would need to be in.

  2. Do you know if they are the race or commercial power ones? Easy way to tell is there should be either an A, B, or C on the sidewall of the race to tell you the compound, it will be in a circle near the tire size. If the circle is empty you have the commercial and don't need warmers for them.

Circle is empty but beside "Max Load" it has a large upper case "B".  They do have "2CT" on them as well.

  3. what tires are on the bike?  you don't "have" to run warmers...remember reading an article where a Dunlop rep said gpa's have more grip at any given temp than q2's(didn't mention temp ramp up tho) .  If I'm there you can borrow my spare set....rear doesnt work, but it will keep a little heat in between sessions.

The bike has Michelin Power One's on it, from what I understand they pretty much require tire warmers.  I do have tire warmers, I just don't want to have to worry about being in a huge rush all day on my first track day trying to get the warmers on the bike each time.  I don't want to miss anything in the class room.

  4. Motomummy has Q3's on sale for those interested.

They also have the S20's for the same price, $220 a set. I think I'm going to buy a pair of those. The tires I have now are fine but I don't want to have to worry about tire warmers my first couple of track days.

  5. Getting ready to buy some gift certificates for myself.  Debating on buying four single day gift certificates or going with two single day gift cards and one two day gift cards.  Decisions, decisions, decisions....

  6. Just prep it for intermediate beforehand in case you want to bump up from novice when you get there. That way you're covered either way.

I plan on it. I purchased a used track bike so it is fully prepped for all of the safety requirements.

  7. Yif they have available spots in intermediate they let you change group.

Guys make sure your bikes are ready for tech,we been told not to pass any bike if is not correctly prep for the level rider sign up.make sure your brake pads are good.intermediate -advance level, oil drain plug, oil filter ,filler oil cap is safety wire,or silicone.tape your wheel weights,

Water wetter as coolent, make sure nothing is loose, last season so many riders show up and their rearsets ,bodywork, levers was loose .

    Forks don't leak.

I tech one day 5 guys on street bikes who sign up for intermediate ,they only tape headlights and tail light, they have no idea what I'm talking about when I ask why they don't do the other stuff I mention above.they were not happy because i send them back to get their bikes prep and they going miss first session.so be ready,no exceptions.

Thanks. I guess I would be better off waiting until I do a track day or two to get a better feel for where I may be at that time. I'm just concerned that weekend will sell out early.

  8. Sounds like the 18th is going to be a darn good time! Everyone should be up to speed by then, gorgeous weather, and the racing comin to town. I can also help with suspension/tire stuff between instructing.

I'm assuming everyone is talking about July 18th? If so I will need to start making some plans and see who wants to join me.

  9. What is really going to suck is when you pass me on your 300.   :(

Then I remembered I'll be in the beginners group so you won't have the opportunity to pass me.  So, nevermind...

note - I tried to edit my previous post, I don't have permission.

  10. Also one of the reasons I picked the 300 is because I make MT look tall ;). Of course I don't need to touch real well at the track.

I know a lot of riders race the 250s and now 300s.

What is really going to suck is when you pass me on your 300.  :(

  11. I've got to take my bike out for a "test ride" soon to make sure everything works properly. It would suck to get to the track and figure out it will barely run. Going to have to find a deserted road or big empty parking lot some place.

  12. Best bet ,check weather couple weeks before you want go ,and call or check midohio website for availability .if is nice first 2 days will be sold out, everybody want ride after long winter.after that ,Monday's are more busy then Tuesdays.if you never ride at track don't sign up for twilight,it's for experience intermediate and advance riders only.if you not in pace we can send you home without refund.

Thanks.  I saw on the web page that it was for intermediate and advanced with at least three intermediate track days so I have no intentions on signing up for twilight.

  13. I'm trying to decide on the first track day to sign up for.  What is the weather generally like in that area around the middle of April?  The way things are going right now I'm thinking there could be a foot or two of snow.

  14. No problem. There are plenty of us on here that have logged many days so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

    Thank you.

Next question, is there usually someone there to set up suspension? If so have a guesstimate on price? The previous owner of my bike wasn't nearly as fat as me so it will need some changes made.
