  1. Thanks for the ideas. I really want to get new handlebars on it, I have a new set just need a set of experienced eyes to tell me they will work or not. I have ideas for the rear end already just need to make them happen.
  2. I laid it in the sun for 30 minutes prior and then moved my portable work bench into the sun and continued to work on there. It helped quite a bit. For my first seat I think it turned out well. There are areas of improvement for sure but I am much happier with that as I can now flat foot the bike at a stop instead of being on my toes. I also am not being shoved to the gas tank and this also helps keep my legs naturally closer to the tank. Thanks for the ideas for the next time I try this.
  3. I finished the new seat during my days off. I did not realize how difficult vinyl would be. I really enjoyed making the seat, frustrating but rewarding. Kind of want to make another at some point. But, onto some other projects and if I go through with it all it wont be much longer.
  4. I do not think I am working that day and could also see if my uncle wanted to ride down with me.
  5. I can always use help, have a few things that are probably easy but I have never done. Bike does run well still. Had it out already for around 100 miles last Sunday.
  6. Crazy, I am not touching the air box or exhaust. Brian Whaler did a wonderful job with the carbs and syncing and I have no desire to mess with it since the bike runs great. Most of everything else you said will happen in time. I am nervous about doing some of the changes as it is the first time for me doing any of it.
  7. I am no bike builder nor do I have the proper tools but I have been challenging myself to to build confidence with making changes to the bike. Since my bike was crashed at some point it has no real value for anyone to buy. Since I had little to no experience when purchasing my 2nd bike I bought this... Lessoned learned. I then had some wonderful men help me get it on the road and running safely. Spring is in the air and I decided to make some changes and ride what I have. I do not have the money for a better or nicer bike so this is where I am. A few weeks ago I was able to get the big dent out of the gas tank, not perfect but much better. I love streetfighter/cafe style bikes so many ideas went swirling in my head. I know this may not be too many peoples liking and it may get ragged on but that is fine. I just am proud of the slow start and what I have learned/been taught. I found a bike on google that I really like and that was where I started. I decided to buy a 2nd hand seat of ebay for super cheap. I did this so if I mess up I can always go back to stock and scrap the entire project. First thing has been to make the new seat. Have not finished it yet but I like what I was able to do with a bread knife. This is the bike I found on google and really like. This is the bike before anything started. This is the dent in the tank. This is after the dent was removed. Here are the pictures of the seat progression.
  8. I would like to make it to this if I am not working and I am not in the middle of changing my bike. Any confirmed dates or anything?
  9. I know, I just tossed it back up on CL to see if any fish were biting. So, I thought I would update the price in here.
  10. Long shot but price drop - $1,500 OBO.
  11. Price is the same on both OR and craigslist ad. It is copied and pasted from the CL ad.
  12. Isaac Papa, after working on the bike it has been determined that at one point in its life it was in a front end crash. There is a dent on the front frame and another small dent at the front of the tank. The damage does not hinder the way it rides. I do not know the history of the bike or when it took place but it does run well.
  13. I know, in no rush to sell. Just seeing if anyone has an itch to buy.
  14. I am selling a 1992 Honda Cb750 Nighthawk. The bike runs very well and has many new parts/service all done recently. The service was performed by Whaler and a few others from this site. I am in no rush to sell the bike as I am still riding it but I thought I would put it up here in case anyone was looking for this kind of bike. -Rebuilt front brake master cylinder. -Rebuilt front brake caliper (new piston seals). -New EBC front brake pads. -New EBC rotor. -Front brake system flushed and filled. (Front brake system is more or less brand new) -New Bridgestone Battlax tires front and rear. -Front forks have been flushed, cleaned, and filled with new fork oil. -Carburetors have been cleaned and synced, runs very well. -Recent tune up (oil change, air filter, and spark plugs). -Chain deep cleaned and lubed. -New head stem bearings. -Rear brake has been adjusted. -25,600 miles -Gas tank does have a dent (picture included). Do not know how this happened as I purchased it that way. -Has a clean title and runs very well. I have put about 500 miles on it and will continue to rise. Selling because I would like a sport touring bike instead. Bike is priced at $2,000 (OBO). Please contact me via phone - 614-557-9665. Here is the CL ad that has pictures of the bike. http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/5557307537.html
  15. Nice little video and the kill switch was humorous. I knew it was coming but did not think he was going to actually do it. Thanks Derek.
  16. I take that last post back, you were speaking about the cb1100, very nice bike.
  17. Only if I loved it as much as you sound like you do.
  18. Thanks for everyone who came out. I am late to posting as I have no idea what my password is but my work computer knows it. Anyways, it was a great ride for the first time on my new bike. The first half was uncomfortable as I was still getting adjusted to everything. Now, the ride back home with Derek and Whaler was a hoot. Derek gave me some great tips with cornering and the grin did not go away as I rode the the fastest I ever have. It was a great day of meeting new people and riding awesome roads. Thank you to everyone who helped organize the event.
  19. I do wish I had time to ride and get a good feel for the bike but the small amount of time I had if felt balanced and controlled. I will not be riding fast, a very comfortable pace for me as I break in everything on the bike and make sure I make it home. But if the weather holds up for my 4 day weekend I will try and ride each day.
  20. This morning shows only a 20% of rain and a high of 66 and a low of 49, partly cloudy. Things are looking good.
  21. I am planning on going to the ride. Just bummed my overnight shipping did not happen to I am now waiting until Tuesday to finish up the bike. Thanks again for the help on the bike. I do want to learn more, really wish I could have been there when he removed the forks and flushed them. I was very interested in that process.
  22. I want to write a review about Whaler, DerekClouser, and Wolfman1. Two weeks ago I asked for direction for a shop or person who I could take my bike to and have work done. Derek recommended I take it to Whaler as he is a stand up guy and loves working on motorcycles. He is also very close to where I live and made it convenient for me to ride it over. I rode it over a day before we actually started working on it because of weather. When I got there I was greeted with a very clean and well organized garage which made me happy because I knew that my bike would be taken care of. We discussed what all needed to be worked on and he then took it for a test ride and noticed a few more items that needed addressed. We made a plan of action and I came back Sunday. He taught me how to work on the carbs and was very meticulous in his work. He is very clean and organized with everything he does. Later in the evening Derek and Wolfman1 showed up to hang out and lend a hand. First time meeting both of them and they are also stand up guys. They jumped right in and started helping out. They mounted and balanced new tires and helped tackle some of the other work. My bike is still over there as I am waiting on one more part to arrive and be installed. They are all knowledgeable about motorcycles and are not afraid to work on any portion of the bike. The craftsman ship of the work they do is outstanding. I am happy to have met them all and to have had such knowledgeable people working on my bike and making sure I am riding something safe. Thank you all for helping and cleaning up the bike.
  23. I am in search of a 92 Honda Nighthawk 750 Front Rotor. Wanting to know if anyone would have one. Need it to be in good working condition, not warped and to still have good life left. Thanks.
  24. I believe I will try and make this. As long as my bike is top notch and ready to go and I have no plans with the significant other I will attend. I am new so I will start in the slow/new group.
