  1. The funniest part of this thread is you guys think this is a new phenomenon.
  2. It's Craigslist. I'm surprised nobody has offered you pets and/or livestock in trade. It's a nice car, GLWS.
  3. Actually I think I have that beat...my buddy Tom in highschool had a 77 Firebird Esprit in refrigerator white with centerline auto drags, hi-jacker rear spring shackles, and a built chevy 305 (yeah I know...lol) that came out of a stolen Third Generation caprice police car (or so he claimed) with a sneaky pete 50hp dry shot nitrous, open rear, and a B&M ratchet shifter. Fuzzy handcuffs hung from the rear mirror. He wasn't whisky tango, but the car looked like he boosted it from the local trailer park. A close second was this guy steve in his mid 20's that hung out with us high school kids, he drove a 1980 "yellowbird" with JC Whitney sidepipes and cragar mags. Dude was uber creepy. Ah...memories. you can never appreciate how terrible those smog era second gen cars are until you drive one. That's what makes the one in the petrolicous video extra good - because it doesn't suck. Are they trashy now? no, I think they aged into being classics and other cars have taken their place but for the time (80's and 90's) they were so cheap, and so disposable, and attracted all the wrong kinds of trouble. Oddly enough I saw a young dude driving an 80 or 81 TA in downtown c-bus last year with a Tennessee tophat and no shirt on and all I could think was "fucking hipster".
  4. Need to get a replacement key for the E90, it's one of those funky RFID keys (no comfort access). Am I stuck going to the dealer for one of these? Anybody have a contact so I don't get fully bent over the counter?
  5. When I was 17 I had a girlfriend who drove a cocaine white turbo trans am pace car. Extremely white trash doesn't even begin to cover it. There is only so much feathered hair and .38 special albums a man can take. Not that I was any better with a 1978 T/A SE "Bandit" that was more primer than black paint.
  6. If you have a judgement from a court, the defendant is already in default. But I get your point, some courts give defendants some time to pay before you can start seizing/garnishing. An "officer of the court" is just someone whose profession is tied to the justice system. However, in some states process servers have to be licensed and approved by the court so they are in fact considered an extension of that court and an official officer of the court.
  7. maybe I am in the minority here but an election year brings out all the dirty tactics. Were students offended? maybe one or two really sensitive ones, but really this just looks like a strategic play by a group that doesn't support trump to suppress on campus propaganda. People aren't really more or less "sensitive" than they have always been. this "kids these days" stuff just sounds like a bunch of oldster "get off my lawn" nonsense.
  8. that's usually the sheriff's job. Once you have a judgement you can file to either garnish wages or lien or seize personal property.

tuners are showing bumps to 200hp for not a lot of money so Mazda may at some point do that as well. The tune has room for improvement before you start with the super/turbo charging. From what I hear the issue with tuning these things is the knock sensor which advances timing until there is knock and then backs off rather than pulling timing out when there is a knock. here just read this: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=589349
  10. We used to use the block party association in Brooklyn to close down two streets and have a bike show and mini bike races for 7 years straight, I don't see why you couldn't do something similar here. Keep in mind if you are thinking about an impromptu drag race with real street cars the city might have some different requirements but it's nothing money can't fix. Of course your local track is probably cheaper.

  12. So I have to ask the "diehard republicans" of this group - are you guys embarrassed by any of the leading conservative candidates' response to the terror attack?: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/evaluating-candidates-responses-brussels-attacks-article-1.2573512 Seems like the most un-american crock of shit we have heard since Japanese interment camps.
  13. Have you tried a process server? works just like the movies, person "tricks" the mark into accepting the letter and certifies it delivered. I don't know what the rates are in ohio but this company was the first hit for me for ohio process servers: http://www.infocorponline.com/ If your defendant is intentionally avoiding process you can usually roll process fees into your claim for damages. It's how you punish them for not signing for the mail. Yes and no. You would have to be the type of person who is avoiding signing for any kind of registered letter, i.e. you know you are in trouble and won't sign for anything. UPS, USPS, FedEx, etc...not signing for any of it.
  14. it says in the oh so well written Jalopnik article (#sarcasm): he plead to: - violating his parole stemming from a 2014 reckless driving charge - four counts of reckless driving, - one count of “illegal exhibition of speed,” (anybody who has been busted for street racing should be familar with this one) - one count of “failure to get a special event permit,” If he had the special event permit, he wouldn't have to plead to any of it. Proof that the gubment needs to get paid first. Just in a quick search turns up a special event street closure fee schedule. If he had an NFP 501©(3) he could have paid $75 per street closure, and if it was just a regular business it would have been $100 per street closure. Most SoCal cities run about $100-$150. So really he could have planned this better and raised maybe a couple of grand, closed all the streets he wanted and avoided jail.
  15. yes it is probably best to get all the info you can, and then walk in and file with the court. I know in NY you can sometimes file and then ask the court for an extension to complete service but I don't know how it works in ohio. If you are making a case against someone related to their driving, pay the $15 and get the drivers, registration, and title as well. Why? make sure your defendant was not under suspension at the time of the accident, make sure the registration was current, and make sure the vehicle wasn't transferred to a new owner after the date of the accident and you have the correct person.
  16. yup you are responsible for providing the address for the service of process: http://www.ohiojudges.org/Document.ashx?DocGuid=7ccff07a-9c2c-4671-b10f-845072444576 page 7:
  17. If I remember how it works (and it's been years so I could be 100% wrong) you are the one charged with service of process. As it is in connection with litigation you can request a vehicle registration abstract: http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/more-records-vrabstract.aspx http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/more-record-types.aspx the abstract should provide you with current name and address. here is the form: http://publicsafety.ohio.gov/links/bmv1173.pdf check box C at the top of page 1 and then line 7 on page 2. if you are suing in connection to damage done by a MVA, might as well request a driver's record (as proof that defendant is a bad driver) and title abstract as well as a registration abstract to make sure there isn't another party you are forgetting to sue (ie the car is owned by one person and registered to another).
  18. dude got 49 days - 2 weeks in jail and the rest under house arrest. http://jalopnik.com/viral-reckless-dune-buggy-driver-gets-49-days-of-jail-a-1764978127 Dude wouldn't have got caught if he hadn't filmed it - Lesson 1: don't film yourself doing illegal shit. Also his friends ratted him out so Lesson 2: don't involve your friends in your stupid illegal activities. That being said, if ol' whats his name can get permits to run the hoonicorn around LA, how hard is it really to get a film permit for Orange County?
  19. ...and yet...somehow...nothing of value was lost. lol.

I hate the flying buttress, recessed back window look on sports cars (love it on muscle cars tho). In an already cramped space why turn extra interior storage space into useless outside space. It needs a fastback style rear window. that being said it's pretty good looking. not sure why they couldn't just make a fixed hardtop to compliment their roadster, but eh...z4 and SLK have a retractable hard top and they are gunning for people who cross shop those cars to move upscale in the market.
  21. Start with the obvious: What is the make, model, year, color, of the vehicle? many of us troll CL enough that if we see something we can say something. If the car was sold but the paperwork never transferred you are SOL. the best you can do is find who sold it and see if they remember who the buyer was (maybe they kept a bill of sale). If you have a friend who is an atty, you can usually get access to records beyond what the normal public has. Often this includes names and addresses. They have to fill out a form that indicates that it is connection with litigation or potential litigation. I would say that confirming the sale price with the buyer (wink, wink) to make sure there was no elder abuse in settling your father's estate might qualify.
  22. slow your roll there and go read the transcripts from the Nuremberg trials (esp the doctors trials). They knew genocide was wrong and still acted. "I was just following orders" was so cliche it became a joke. I get your point, just Nazi Germany is a bad example because a lot of the unethical orders reform in the military comes from that. Everybody is fighting for something, just the methods and the enemies change.
  23. Many here are probably not old enough to remember Helmuth Koinigg, ut my father was at watkins glen when the guardrail took his head off. I was going to post a pic of it but that seems in bad taste. Guardrails are not there to protect the drivers they are there to protect the spectators from car and debris.
  24. first off you have a 2bbl carb. Is it even possible to hurt fuel economy in that thing by jetting? Seriously any "power" you think you will lose can be gained back by switching to a 4bbl as god and ford intended before the gubment knew what was best for you. Just make sure your EGR is not also acting as your crankcase vent. Block it off and make sure your crankcase vent isn't plugged. After that we can tune and rejet the carb for optimal running (and maybe switch to a modern efficient holley 4bbl finally? instead of that motorcraft 2bbl piece of garbage). As far as timing, your dizzy has an emission curve which is not ideal but you don't need to pull timing unless you are pinging. Eventually you should think about an HEI upgrade dizzy but since you are a cheap bastard like me, let's just jet it, do a plug chop, tune it, and see if she knocks.
  25. I would seriously do a leak inspection on your compressor tank if it is kicking on early into your use. Get some soapy water (dish soap or plain car wash works well for this) and apply it around all the tank fittings. then fill up the tank and look for bubbles. FWIW my HF pancake compressor had leak straight out of the box at the hose hook up. the compressor would fill it but it would kick on an hour later having leaked some air out. It was slow enough to not be heard but it was fast enough to drain the tank. Rather than take it back I took the fitting off and wrapped the threads in plumbers tape. No more air leak.
