  1. so there is more than one fiero with a blown olds 455? dear lord what monsters stalk these lands.....
  2. v8 fieros are one thing, but an olds 455 with a toronado FWD TH425 is a massive combo in size. Plus it's blown with an intercooler? I'm guessing it was this car: http://gmauthority.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/1984-Pontiac-Fiero-With-Big-Block-720x340.jpg
  3. so are just the 1988's the heavy ones? What does "yes/no rear" and "yes/no front" mean? Also, holy crap someone put a 455 olds in one?!?! that's cool. It's interesting that the guy with the LS4 is 100 lbs lighter than your car, are the 3800s all steel?
  4. Great work, keep I up. 2921 is way heavier than I thought it would be. Any way to bring the weight down?
  5. If you just want bigger rims, 1984-2001 Cherokee, 2002-2007 Liberty, 96-06 TJ, and 1992-1998 Grand cherokee all fit the YJ with the same bolt pattern and back spacing and there are some nice 16 and 17" wheels in that mix. All of them with new tires are like half the cost of JK wheels. You don't want to go big wheels on a wrangler because the suspension is so harsh, a fat sidewall is part of the cushion. YJs use a 5x4.5 lug pattern with 5.5" backspacing (yeah no ET sizes here). 5x4.5 is universally known as the ford passenger car bolt pattern. 90's rangers and explorers as well as broncos I think have the same pattern and spacing that is close. Fox bodies have a 6.5" backspacing with the 5x4.5 pattern but there are tons of wide used aftermarket wheels for them. Explorer wheels have a 4.5" backspacing so they poke about an 1" which is ideal if you ask me (my YJ has 1" of poke but it also has 9" wide rims). If you do the leg work, there are a ton of cheap cool options. that being said, P245/75R16 equates out to a 30.5x9.6 imperial tire size so that is the maximum you can run and the plastic fenders will rub and self clearance or you can take a wizzwheel to them. BTW, we should do a homemade turbo setup for this jeep. 89rwhp is going to be groan city.
  6. Can I make some suggestions? 1) if you are going to upgrade the radio, move it to the center console. Forget a CD player and just get one with an aux input on the face and bluetooth pairing. Why? jeep winshield gaskets leak and they leak right on top of the radio. Quadratec sells an extension pigtail for the stock harness, and there are a number of center consoles that offer space for the radio. 2) DONT LIFT IT. it's a stock 4 cyl which means it's gutless as it is, but lifting it will make that far far worse. If you need bigger tires 30" tall is the maximum that will fit (that's what I have on my jeep and I have 0 lift) and you can get them for the stock rims. Derek sold me these for my jeep two years ago and I love them for their off road prowess and lack of street noise, and the fact that they are half what a bfg costs but just as capable: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mastercraft-Courser-LTR-104R-Tire-30-9-50R15LT/47406453?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227035903276&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=68398136929&wl4=pla-153484297249&wl5=9014871&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=47406453&wl13=&veh=sem The rims that jeep comes with are actually the tough as nails factory alloy rims which they used on everything from Grand Cherokees to YJs. they are light and take a tremendous amount of abuse. They look really good painted black. If you don't want them I'll take them off your hands. 3) take the carpet out and bedliner the tub. It's a soft top jeep, the carpet is just a moisture trap and will cause rust. If you want to be hardcore, replace the seats with fiberglass buckets and get rid of the soft top all together (though you will want a sunrider for the top of the bar). put down rubber floor mats so you don't burn your feet. If your fenders have not rusted yet then bedliner the inner fenders wells. 4) just get a cheapie set of monroe shocks for this thing new. I've had every manner of shocks on mine from Rancho 5000s to Bilsteins, and I run cheapie Monroe shocks now because it gives the softest ride. the short wheelbase of a YJ means that a performance offroad shock is a jarring ride. softer the better. 5) re-do all your body bushings and the front end bushings. Buy them new. I have a set of upper door windows that fit your hardtop in decent shape and match your top. buy me a drink and they are yours.
  7. In this case he didn't even hide it, he linked to Tucker Carlson in the tweet.
  8. you are getting used. Tucker Carlson uses South Africa to feed the fear that white people are under attack, president sees the piece and uses it as an opportunity to appeal to his hard core base. Neither have any honest intention to help the situation in South Africa. Promising to study something is literally the least amount of commitment the executive branch can give to anything. Maybe a more diplomatic and world collaborative president would be able to leverage the US into a position to influence the South African government, but diplomatic he ain't. Let's just see if this kicked over rock turns up anything at all, my money is on it won't.
  9. no problem. I can also leave the tool with you to play with if you want.
  10. We tested cold cranking pressure but not under load. When we hooked up the gauge the pressure was at zero but as soon as the pump came on it shot up. In thinking about it now, the line pressure may be bleeding down overnight? In my jeep the fuel rail holds pressure, is it supposed to in a 4.3?
  11. I think you missed the point. Be Tim, chant lock her up even though you can't actually point to any crime Hilary had done, but when it comes to a real crime and someone who can actually be charged suddenly become a skeptic because it's your team. :dumb:

  13. 6 places I would check for rust on a YJ frame/body: 1) rear spring mount 2) front frame horns 3) frame rails where the skid plate/trans mount attaches (check the plate itself too as they tend to rust around the bolt holes and drop the skid plate on it's own). 4) all body mounts 5) all cross members but esp the rear ones 6) the inside of the tub in front of the door, right below where the jeep emblem is. All these areas are common rust areas and a punch in the dick to repair. You can fix a hole in the floor with anything from a plank of wood to a patch panel and a welder, but it's not easy to fix any of those places because patches don't exist or are difficult to weld in. from what I can see in that pic, it looks pretty clean. I don't see the front fender or rear tub bubbles you normally see. I betcha even the windshield frame is nice. If you do get it, I have a set of pretty nice door windows for that soft top. my soft top uses a different shape.
  14. the thing about jeep frames is they rot from the inside out as much as they rot from the outside in, so any major patch is usually only temporary - as in will last a couple of years but once rust starts it is hard to stop. Even with how simple jeeps are, it's still a big job.
  15. Jeeps are tinker toys. It’s always cheaper and easier to buy a rust free frame and swap it over than repair the frame, most people choose to repair because they don’t have the time and space to take the thing apart and swap everything over. That being said, buying a not rusty one to begin with saves everyone a hassle. Do you want me to go with you to look at it?
  16. Hey all, I have a Morris Magneto on my 1974 Sportster. It's basically a modernized copy of the old fairbanks morse magneto that used to be installed on tractors, 4 cyl race cars, custom VW's, etc... The mag has no spark. I haven't done anything to it yet other than to remove the cap to see if it had gotten wet (it hadn't). Seems like a pretty simple setup, 1 set of breaker points, condenser, and a coil but not sure where to start with diagnosis. Anybody have some advice as to what to check, how to check it, and where to start? I didn't see any grounds in it and the points look fine and not corroded.
  17. me too!!!!! It turns out all 2003-2004 5.3L ones are autotragic. the 2005-2006 ones got the LS2 6.0L and an optional 6MT. because it uses a derivative platform of the Trailblazer, there are some guys that looked for wrecked 6speed ones to convert their TBSS to RWD manual, moslty for the pedals, mounts, and brackets. https://tbssowners.com/forums/4l70e-transmission-help/27335-started-t-56-install.html
  18. Hot Wheels. Matchbox doesn't have near the original and weird designs that hot wheels has. I mean they added a toilet car this season to the lineup. A different one. yes there are multiple hot wheels toilet cars. IF there is one redeeming feature of the dino-SSR or whatever that it, it's that its a 400hp LS2 with a 6 speed stick.
  19. are you looking for one of the 600 (300 imported to the US) 2001 E55 AMGs? or the more broader w210 E55 AMG they imported 2,000 of? If it is one of the 2001 special cars, then it may be worth it considering the accident car. If it is one of the other ones, then keep looking.
  20. yeah...at that point you are into patch panels and at least a 1/2 car repaint. I'm with clay, see if the white car guy has accident pictures and see how cheap he'll go.
  21. Have you inspected the rust? Is it just surface rust from worn away paint? Or did the guy rub some of the metal off and now it’s rusting deep in the metal? If it’s just surface from rubbed paint then go for it. If it’s starting to pit...eh...I would still go for it but know it’s going to be much more expensive to fix.
  22. There are still dodgers fans in NY too, but they aren't making that many more of them if you catch my meaning. It's the casual fans, not the die hards, that have the most influence. I actually want to take my kid to a crew game but have been avoiding this because of how stupid I find all of this. Maybe if I can get tickets to the 9/1 game I'll go just to say I did it before they leave.
  23. this one kind of surprises me: http://www.swapalease.com/lease/details/2014-Harley-Davidson-FLHX.aspx?salid=1113694 I knew HD leases existed but I've never actually seen one before or known anybody who had one. Seems like a pretty sweet deal considering you can rack up 4K miles a month for the remaining 11 months. on the other hand: http://www.swapalease.com/lease/details/2017-Porsche-911.aspx?salid=1280178 daily driver porka anyone? Am I crazy or does this seem like both a good lease deal and one of the best BMW color combinations evah: http://www.swapalease.com/lease/details/2016-BMW-M4.aspx?salid=1263797 It's, stick, its a vert, its an M car, and it was special ordered (only way to get that color combo), instant cars and coffee cred.
  24. does MLS see all this kerfuffle as hurting their org at all? It seems to me the longer things drag on, the less enthuastic people are going to be about the crew staying or Cbus having another expansion team.
  25. A buddy of mine did this with his Chevy C10. Hunted for months and ended up buying a rust free truck out of west Texas. He still had to do some bodywork (one cab corner that was crunched and a pinhole in the hood) but it saved him a ton on rust repair. Granted he was looking for a project truck because he was LS swapping it and Z-ing the frame and installing Air ride so all he really needed was a body, but it saved him a pretty good amount in bodywork.
