  1. It's your job to get paid, and my job as a consumer to not get hosed.... There is no hypocrisy in my deals. I take care of my vehicles and my cars look NEW. Some dealers want to offer below trade in value on a car that will be turned around and sold as a CPO, that's ridiculous. I'll just sell it myself and save GIVING them a $4k+ profit. Its one thing if the vehicle is beat to death and/or know its going straight to the auction.....its another thing to try and screw someone over to line your pockets. MSRP is just that, MANUFACTURE SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE....its just more fluff built into the price to go into a dealers pockets. Don't get me started on dealers charging a market adjustment or some other BS on top of MSRP... I don't treat dealership people like scum, when they come at me like scum and play games....they are treated as such. This was never directed at you and still isn't. This is about the MANY dealers I have dealt with that are complete CRAP! If you aren't doing any of these shenanigans, then you have nothing to be mad about. If anything it will make you go to work everyday and prove to people you are NOT one of these dealers....
  2. He meant people would just come in and BS for a price with no real plan to ever buy. They just wanted to talk a mean game never to be heard form again... I have no problem with them making a profit but them making $4-10k+ for a 30 minute transaction is a freaking joke. I'd be glad to pay them by the minute for there service, they sure as heck wouldn't be making what they make if that's what you mean. My real problem lies in the dirty dealers that want to charge full MSRP or some other idiotic amount and then play games with the buyer. Messing with peoples interest rate, low balling the trade-in, scare tactics, "oh what do you want your payment to be".....typical BS,....I do frown upon it and will NOT let someone get taken advantage of. You may see an uneducated consumer but there is a difference between making a profit and plain ROBBING someone.... Feel free to correct me... Most models have BASE, TECHNOLOGY(includes Nav) and ADVANCED as the three options. You are stuck with whatever comes in those packages and that's it. The only exception is the TL/RDX if you want FWD or AWD. You can NOT single out certain options like a Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc...etc...and personalize your order. For instance you can't order Adaptive Cruise Control on a base MDX, etc.
  3. ....just the beginning of why I will NOT buy a GM product (other than maybe a truck or Vette)...
  4. As with anything you upgrade, breaking parts is possible. Considering they have gone 9's with the Mustang on the stock drive-train, I'm not as concerned about the trucks going 12's......11's and 10's well....duh...
  5. I didn't see this... +1 .....all good points!
  6. Cars.com, Edmunds, truecar, etc... all have it! Just make sure you double check because some sites list options that are standard in packages. So if you aren't careful they will add a few hundred here and there that aren't suppose to be when its already included in base price.... When it comes down to it, make them show you the invoice....a good dealer should offer it up! I'd laugh at them for that price and especially this time of year. You should have no trouble getting a better price and if they don't want to sell it for that, I wouldn't personally want to do business with them. Remember they are still making 3-4% profit on the MDX even if you pay invoice. Not to mention that doesn't include any dealer kickbacks, programs or incentives Acura gives them that you don't know about. I would tell them straight up, this is the last model year of the car before a total redesign. Invoice or nothing! If you are paying cash or bringing them a check (at invoice price) you essentially are paying them $2,000 to unload it off the truck, do a pre-delivery inspection and file a few papers. Its not like they spent hours looking at cars with you, selling you on it, custom ordering what you wanted, blah...bla...bla.... It's an Acura, essentially the options are base, Nav or DVD players, that's it... If you want to light a fire with them, email about 10 dealers within driving distance. Send out a blanket email, I want a NEW MDX Advance w/Entertainment in ____ color with ____ interior and I'm willing to pay INVOICE today! I bet you get at least 3 that jump on it if they have the color combo/options in stock. I don't even dick around with these idiot salesman anymore especially when 99/100 I'm educating them on the product THEY sell. Once I know what I want, I just do the internet deals and start emailing. 30-minutes of searching/emailing and I can have the deal without any BS. Show up with a check and drive away,.....I don't have time for all there little games they want to play....
  7. I would stay clear of the first model year of any vehicle. Based on the warranty issues from the first year GTR's, you could be asking for problems if you don't find one 100% stock with a previous owner that really kept it that way...
  8. I wouldn't say its disappointing, just shows how neutered they are from the factory. Once all that power is uncorked, it should be a pretty quick truck (already mid-14' stock). Then again, there are so many blower options for the 5.0, you really can't go wrong with any of the engines in the new F150's...
  9. If you have more than two kids, I wouldn't recommend an MDX until they are out of car seats and more towards boosters. Otherwise, you've got to constantly rip out a car seat so they can access the back (unless they climb over EVERY time). Even then the third row is fine for a kid but would be punishment for an adult. At that point I would look at Tahoe/Escalade, etc. in the next class. Then again, you are talking a tank/bus to haul everyone around at that point...
  10. Back on topic here is some info from my bud Alan back in August... Watch the boost between shifts... Here is the old FASTLANE info, should be more updates now... http://www.f150forum.com/f70/2011-tuned-ecoboost-dyno-video-110136/
  11. The trucks are limited BIG time in the tune. A friend of mine has been logging his at the track and the truck is only 100% throttle for a split second and then is retarded to around 60% from there on out. The faster you go, the more boost is reduced. Ford has really cut the nuts off of them from the factory...
  12. He'll be kicking himself soon...lol...
  13. Check out Fastlane....they are making some great power with just basics. Still a lot of learning but they should run pretty good. Everyone is afraid of the trans but someone said they are similar to the Mustang's that are running 9's on the OEM tranny so take that for what it's worth. If I could get the Harley truck with the EcoBoost, I'd buy one...
  14. Buy the bare wheels and custom make some out of foam...
  15. Change the gearing and install larger tires....80+ Sam...DO IT!
  16. Been here since 0530, going home soon... Merry Christmas!
  17. Come to Houston they are here..... It's all personal preference and IMO with the MDX you actually get some handling out of the thing (for a SUV). The Acadia feels like its going to roll over. I understand you sell them so you like them but personally I would NEVER buy one or even recommend one. Not to mention the MDX has a better AWD system for the winter and doesn't feel cheap all over IMO...
  18. I know, right... I don't see any haters. The point is, understand what it is. When these fan boys want to compare it to Sal's Viper or Mark's Vette, they are NOT even in the same league. Wanna race my Celica... http://image.modified.com/f/events/modp-0507-2005-ndra-st-louis/17284636+pheader_460x1000/modp_0507_18+2005_ndra_st_louis+toyota_celica_dragster.jpg or my Cobalt.... http://www.biondoracing.com/images/gallery/Pete_Cobalt_Pomona2007.jpg ...or my other one... http://image.modified.com/f/17262916/modp_0607_21+2006_ndra_new_york+chevrolet_cobalt_dragster_start.jpg
  19. What part of the plant to do work? Yep, prices get silly on some of them very quick. The MDX is still a great buy, just hard for me to get one today knowing a new one is right around the corner..
  20. The RDX is fun but usability, its tiny inside.... I agree, that's why the wife wants an X3 M-sport or X5M. Just can't see spending X5M money on a DD not to mention a new X5 will be out very soon. We'll probably end up with the X3... I haven't heard many problems with them other than the early HPFP issues. Otherwise, they aren't bad IMO....what ended up being wrong with your BIL's?
  21. As long as you understand its a fully built DRAG CAR that is 2JZ "powered".... Acting like its a regular Supra inline with other Vette/Viper/Gallardo street builds is plain silly....
  22. Not to mention $49k for a loaded one thats worth $35k in 1-year...no thanks!
  23. I'm sorry, you are correct in class...I was thinking GLK. BUT...interior size/dimensions wise the RDX is comparable to the ML front/rear room but the ML does have a bigger cargo hole with the seats down.
  24. I'd say they aren't great. The 2012's have been out for a couple months so with the MDX you are essentially paying invoice for a 1-year old car (2 once it leaves the lot) vehicle. If the dealer was smart, they would give you the 2012 (w/same accessories) for the same price....if that's what you want. I just don't think they are worth that kind of money... If she really wants one, I'd get the base model $40k and install iPad holders in the back for TV/Video needs. She'll probably change wheels anyway and I'm not a fan of Acura Nav's. Have you been car shopping lately? You can't get much decent in a mid-size+ suv these days without spending $55k+... Even a loaded 4x4 Tahoe stickers over $55k. The same in an Escalade starts in the $60k's and goes over $80k+ very quick... Only problem is the ML is in the RDX class which is a much smaller SUV. You have to spend GL money to get an MDX size vehicle and they start $62k for a base model. A loaded GL550 is $90k... Not to mention, if you want an ML to have the same features as the $56k MDX, you are talking $68k. That's why people buy the Acura's over other brands... Acura's drive and feel nothing like a German car. I have loved my Acura's but they are nothing like my German cars...
  25. I was told the info would be released in/by the summer and arriving at dealers in probably Oct. Then again, it would be nice if they were out early Jun-July... It's an Acura, no one smart is paying full price for one... It's suppose to be a little larger and look more like the newly updated TL. If they don't come out with a more powerful engine, its going to fail. A 300hp V6 just doesn't cut it in the luxury class it falls in. Don't get me wrong, its more than enough for the wife/kids but it needs more... If you do decide to get a current one, you shouldn't be paying more than invoice. You can pretty much walk into any dealer in Houston and get $500 over invoice so you can do better if you shop. BASE- MSRP $43,815 - Invoice $40,296 TECH- MSRP $47,490 - Invoice $43,628 ADVANCE- MSRP $53,440 - Invoice $49,024 For rear DVD add MSRP $1,900 -Invoice $1,723 to the above model... That's not including any incentives that may come available. As the new one is released they will probably have pretty big rebates to clear the old model...
