  1. Update, camera is working great but the mounts it comes with are shit. Went to go for a ride yesterday and the clamped snapped on the handlebars. They are made out of plastic so I'd invest in a higher quality mount. Luckily I noticed it before leaving so didn't have it come off at speed.
  2. I like scenic cruises to spirited pace rides. Stay away from the insane as work looks down on loosing your license
  3. I am up in Marysville and work in Dublin. I might be able to make something depending on what is going on then. There are not a ton of great roads up this way since it is a lot of straight farm roads. I normally set out in a direction and make whatever turns seem good until I'm lost and then figure out the way back.
  4. All I did was got back tire off ground put in neutral and checked the teeth out the sprocket to make sure there is no broken teeth or weird wear patterns. After that looked good then I covered in kerosene really good and scrubbed the hell out of all sides of the chain, a little more kerosene then started drying it really good with rag until it is dry to the touch. Then lubed it. If I found messed up sprocket I'd replace chain and both sprockets. I've dealt more with dirt bike maintenance but now that I have a street bike again I need to start keeping up with maintenance as I hate giving anyone money for something I am capable of doing myself. May have a different perspective if I hit the lottery.
  5. Cleaned and lubed the chain after seeing the post on paying attention to your chain. I've seen worse but I am going to put an effort into keeping up with it from now on.
  6. Mounted a little waterproof external phone battery charger with a couple small Velcro straps as temporary power if I need it. Ordered rear paddock stand and chain brush to help with maintenance. Now contemplating putting gun on gunbroker to get some extra cash to do some modifications to the bike. Or putting a few up for sale and getting an older bike to tinker with.
  7. Thanks, that is good info! I'll keep an eye out for big trucks. I went for a ride northeast of Deleware on back roads and hit this sweet little stretch that and some nice corners (respectively for this flat ass area I live in) and it looked like someone literally dumped stone from a dump truck only in all the corners. Highly disappointing and luckily my buddy was leading and he noticed early. I might have been to eager on that first one and gone in to hard.
  8. How was the triple nickel between Athens and Zanesville(road conditions)? I got a neighbor who invited me on a trip for the weekend to hit that road and some others in the area.
  9. Adjusted the suspension a little softer. I was finding some of the bumps in the road making me feel like I was going to pop off the seat. I'll take it out tomorrow to test it out and see if it is feels better or if I like it better the way it was.
  10. Well I got it up on TV and actually the sound is pretty decent. Low wind noise and captures the engine fairly well. All and all may not be the best action cam on the market but may be the best for the money.
  11. Ok so I got the Asako ek7000 out this weekend on one of my rides and forgot it on the Fathers Day ride. I just uploaded the videos and took a quick look and I am highly impressed with the quality of the video for $80 and even on the bumpy backroads the vibrations did not seem obnoxious to me(go pro mount or something from RAM Mounts would probably make it even better). The only thing I noticed was I'm not sure how great the sound quality is but it is not horrible by any means. Also direct sun made a small red reflection in a corner but rest of video looked great. I'll test it on my TV which will let me know more on sound quality. If I figure out how to post a video clip I will so anyone thinking about picking one up can see what your getting for $80. I'm not getting into vlogging but I do think it would be nice to capture some of the rides I go on to show my little kids.
  12. Went for a nice ride with a buddy out towards Deleware and then back roads up through prospect towards Marion and then back down to Marysville. Buddy picked up a screw in his back tire in the last 15 miles. So a Quick run home and got back with the trailer to get him.
  13. Well this ek7000 camera shows up today so once I get it mounted and everything I'll run it and post a short review here in case anyone is thinking about getting one. I'm hoping it works good enough to let me figure out if I even care to capture my rides on video without breaking the bank. Think I will start with handlebar mount instead of helmet for now.
  14. Got my bike back from dealership. Software glitch causing check engine light to come on. Flashed the ECU so hopefully no more issues and I can get it out this weekend and test out the action cam arriving tomorrow.
  15. Well I finally decided to get a action camera to mount either to my helmet or my bike someplace to capture my rides (mainly for my viewing) I ended up getting a cheap one to start to make sure I'll actually use it and how it all works before stepping up to something more expensive. So I am starting out with the Asako ek7000 4K cam. I think I'll just do 1080 at 60fps for the rides. Anyone using action cams feel free to share any tips for mounting or settings. I'll try to add a short review of what you get for $84 and hopefully can upload some rides on here if I get anything decent.
  16. Wow, that looks awesome! Congrats on the new ride. I've trailered my bikes all over when I was traveling in the service and it's not too bad. Now you got me thinking about trailering mine on vacation with the family. Well if I ever get time off for a vacation that is lol.
  17. Looks like from my research it is a known issue that Yamaha is looking into. If you accidentally try to start in gear with kickstand down or turning off with key or dropping kickstand it will cause the check engine light to come on. Only way to turn it off is take it too the dealer. They have my bike to check it but hoping it is something dumb like that so I can get it back Tuesday. My garage feels empty with no bike.
  18. Went for a nice ride and on way back the bike had check engine light. Now off to dealer to figure out what is wrong.
  19. Ok looking at this thread just makes me envious lol. Looks like you all are having a great time.
  20. Added new grips and ram mount for my phone. Of course ordered one set of grips open ended and they sent a totally different color pair with closed ends. I being the impatient type already had the stock grips off and all surfaces ready for new grips so a little cutting and got them to fit so I can ride this weekend. Of course had to go for a spirited ride to make sure the grips would not bind on throttle side after the alteration.
  21. Sitting here this morning and get a Facebook memory from 8 years ago. It's of this picture of probably my favorite motorcycle. It got stolen from being chained up in a apartment parking garage blocked in by my car. I still feel rage when I think of them cutting her up and putting her frame in a dumpster in Baltimore and then getting away with it. I have not put enough miles on the XSR to have her take the top spot for favorite but maybe overtime.
