  6. If it's not Pee Wee Herman, I bet Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso from Ducati Factory Team are going to do very well, might even take 2nd over Honda... but Yamaha. Yamaha YZR-M1 under Movistar Yamaha MotoGP is sure to clinch.
  7. That's crazy. I'm no lawyer, but just because you agree not to sue, if Uber is negligent of an injury they are still liable for damages. With some background in robotics, I must say this technology is not foolproof. The sensors fail, weather and dirt affect the optics and components, and electronic noise and bad coding all play a part in a bad decision. This might sound crazy, but cities are full of pigeons... and they do fly between cars, let alone leave gifts. Like automatic check outs at grocery stores... I don't interface with robots. 1) I like interacting with people. 2) I pay people to work. If I'm supposed to work then pay me. 3) People need jobs.
  8. BTW - Looking for tips to increase visibility for Uber.
  9. Headless Self-Driving Uber Wrecks Holy lederhosen hinter scheisse Batman! Did you see that auto-automatronic doing a T-bone? Life on two wheels just got a lot more interesting friends. Besides babes on phones and three feet for bicycles, in some places we got’s to deal with RoboWheels. And no, gearing up like a banana or lit up like a Christmas tree isn’t going to make your ride any more safe from the Uber driver. One big orange flag on the back of your iron horse might help but don’t count on it; however, two rock’n American flags on a hog would be awesome. What say you… would you take a little trip in a Tron Taxi? Source: Bloomberg Report

  12. LOL... all joking aside I'll roger that. One day I'll make it to Louisville, KY for a weekend of eats.
  13. WKRP and all the ships at sea say... welcome aboard streetfighter. Your 158 hp beast will leave granny in the dust unless she's packing. And if she is... you best stay out of Kentucky and keep north of the Ohio. ;)
  14. Yep... best bet for dirt bikes.
  15. There's always someone blaming the cops... try Crackron... I'm certain there's a few there.
  16. And suck they do... like those with cellphone in hand who think they can drive at night through Kent without headlights.
  17. Dear Fellow Ohio Riders; If any of you have ridden a motorcycle in California you have or have been very tempted to lane split. To the rest of you all, you have never enjoyed this benefit during traffic. Lane splitting is riding the line between to lanes in the same direction. While I lived in California lane-splitting was better than sliced bread for the following reasons: It got me through traffic. It gave me a get away from a road rager. It got me to the head of an intersection and away from congestion. It saved my bike from overheating. It kept a tailgater and reckless driver from entering my tailpipe. Now, I have seen my fair share of idiots on the road, so before you say lane-splitting is dangerous because people pass too fast let pull a Barney Fife and nip that argument in the bud. The same 10% we call squids giving us 90% awesome riders a bad name will yes pass fast. But their days are numbered so don't worry about it. Hot heads, meat heads and brain deads don't last long on the road. So here are the facts. According to a study from U.C. Berkeley, CA (source) lane splitting is safe and greatly reduces being hit from behind. And in Ohio, this is especially important where cagers (people in cars) just can't stop behind the pedestrian crosswalk nor keep from inching into the intersection only to snail through at the green because they are checking the weather on their cellphones (illegal yes... but they still do it) According to a 2014 Ohio report (source) there were 3,651 motorcycle crashes, 140 of which ended in death and 3,060 resulted in injuries. And by all vehicle one of the most common types of accident is the rear-ender. By the way, here's a note for the wise, if you do get rear-ended, leave your bike in front of the car until the folks in blue come; otherwise, you'll likely have a hit-and-run while you hobble your dreams to the side of the road. And for all you on hogs, you know what idle in the hot still summer sun can do to your air-head engines. Here's a Harley forum that goes into detail (source). Now, for trends. Currently the state of Washington passed their lane-splitting bill in the senate only to have it stall in their state's house (source.) And in Utah the bill failed to become law also in this merry month of March, 2017 (source.) So, what's with Ohio? According to Robert D. Erney (source) lane splitting, driving between lanes to avoid slow or stalled traffic is illegal in Ohio. I suppose it can be argued by a good attorney that you where not splitting lanes if you were not directly between two vehicles, but then you'll have to explain the unsafe lane change ticket and while at it not using your direction signals. What doesn't makes sense to me is that two bicycles and two motorcycles can in fact share a lane, but a car and a motorcycle cannot. And yes, keep three feet away from those bicycles (with no respect given to unicycles); it's the law. ORC 4511.55 (B) Persons riding bicycles or motorcycles upon a roadway shall ride not more than two abreast in a single lane, except on paths or parts of roadways set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles or motorcycles. And you can pass two bicycles riding side by side or a slow moving vehicle to the far right, and you can cross a double yellow lane in some cases, but I have yet to find any ORC which specifically states Ohio does not permit lane-splitting. For more info check out these sources. 4511 TRAFFIC LAWS - OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES 4511.21 [Effective 4/6/2017] Speed limits - assured clear distance. 4511.25 Lanes of travel upon roadways of sufficient width. 4511.29 Driving to left of center of roadway in overtaking and passing traffic proceeding in same direction. 4511.33 Driving in marked lanes. So what should we do about lane-splitting? According to StateMaster.com there is approximately 7.6 million Ohioans who have a driver's license (source) And according to the U.S. Department of Transportation there are 10.6 million registered vehicles, and 405 thousand or 3.8% are motorcycles (source). In comparing apples to oranges, maybe we can say there are 289 thousands Ohians who have a motorcycle license as well? That's good enough for square screws and government accountability for gross approximations to the nearest centurion. With figures like those not even May West can argue we have a snow belt's chance in Euclid of getting frost bit in March. So I say... let's get the law passed in Ohio where we can lane-split, keep safe, save the environment and do it for the children. Are you with me? 18. The entire situation is a tragic comedy of errors. Just change the name and date and repeat next month: > The thief ran and got shot - now dead. > The father wants to be his girl's super daddy. > The girl is making bad choices but plays herself as sweet and wholesome 16. > Cops come to clean up the mess and everyone blames the men and women in blue for racism and mistakes. Here's my take away, most bikes today with exception to the expensive bikes (BMW, top of the line Harley, other???) don't have a key-less security fob. The key-less security fob electronically locks the front forks and denies a thief an easy method for theft. With that said, what's the preferred way to secure your ride to prevent theft?
  19. Thanks Qman... funny you should mention Newfoundland. I spoke to a couple while in Maine who are from there. They handed me a Newfoundland visitors pack titled "The beginning of your Newfoundland and Labrador adventure." From the photos and all the great coastal food I had to add it to my bucket list. (Bucket getting bigger)! Here's a photo from Bailey Island, Maine. Images like this motivate me to ride.
  20. Thanks Al Z. Heimer, Nice rides. I'll be sure to check out Epic Rides threads. Trips through the Ozarks and to Rushmore sounds fantastic! Maybe we'll meet on a ride some day.
  21. Thanks Al... that's a great resource. I've been meaning to do some camping in Sandusky on my bike. Now I have a reason to hit those spots and check some gear. Thanks.
  22. There used to be a leather place on Route 14 in Streetsboro which sold outstanding jackets and motorcycle gear made with leather. That place no longer exists. Anyone know of stores in Ohio or within 100 miles of Cleveland that sells leather motorcycle jackets and other apparel? I don't want to buy from online and run the risk of having to return what does not fit right. Thanks, Fin
  23. I'm riding a BMW 1150 GSA. My first bike was a 1978 Honda CX500 which I rode exclusively in my early 20's. After 2.5 decades of hell on four wheels I finally got another bike in December of 2015. Riding non-stop since, I decided to stretch my wings and rode to New Hampshire then up to Maine, then rode 1023 miles in 21 hours from Acadia back home. The 4 AM thunderous and lightening filled torrential down pore only added to my "Bat out of Hell," Meatloaf lust for life and didn't stop me one bit. The bike was a champ and I remained dry as a scorpion in the desert sun. Only now have I heard of the Iron Butt! But who needs patches? "We don't need no stink'n patches!" Be that as it may... I'm planning on one more trip this summer, 1500 miles in 36 hours, before I have to get serious on my new career path. I want to hit Savannah, Georgia and back. If there are any serious riders out here who want to do the same trip or similar ... give me a heads up. I hear there's a great oyster bar there named "Sorry Charlie's Oyster Bar" and a great pier called "Tybee Beach Pier and Pavilion." If anyone asks, why the trip... the obvious answer is, "I'm hungry for some oysters." Look me up if you want to go. ~Fin
