  1. I left the house at 7am and headed west toward 21S/585/83 and met a friend near New Concord. We then proceeded to roll across 40/265/146/800/148/26/145/556/78/536/260 back to Caldwell where we went our separate ways home. I finished my day tooling around 78/379/265 when I finally hopped on 77N and droned home on autopilot. I put in 366 miles according to my odometer. So, probably closer to 340. Great day. Little chilly at first, but heated gear makes this weather just about perfect for day jaunts to hotdog land.
  2. 83 just south of New Concord may be closed. I rode through there last week and they had the signs blocking the road and equipment offloaded. Not sure what they had planned or if it is finished. Just a heads up. Maybe @Killer_kaw can expound for us?
  3. Gonna snow tomorrow. Bike is clean.
  4. Welcome. Congrats on retirement. What did you do at Honda? Like your prents, I was pro-moto. I put my boy on a dirtbike at age 5 and he rode them as a teenager. I bought him a Ninja250 a few years ago and it didn't stick with him. Had planned on upgrading him to something a little more zoomy but he decided streetbikes arent his bag. I'm ok with that, if I may be honest.
  5. I am still planning to ride on Sunday. Anybody that wants to tag along is welcome to meet me at the DQ/Marathon station at Exit 93 off I-77 in Bolivar at 7:30am. I will be rolling south to meet another rider at the intersection of 83/93 by 9:00am. Lunch stop is planned for the bottom of 800 at Riverview Diner, in Fly, OH. We will be taking all the twisty roads to get there.
  6. This ride is postponed until a later date.
  7. Ride has been pushed to Sunday, pending the weather clears by then. I will edit the title.
  8. I want to let everyone know that Mike and @RidersDiscount took care of me and my sudden lack of gear situation. I had made an original order for some specific kit and when it arrived I didn't care for the cut. I explained my debacle with Mike and he said it was no big deal to send it back and start from scratch. So, I sent it back and ordered new kit. I ordered an Astars Wake Air jacket and pants, Andes V3 jacket and pants and an Arai XD4 helmet. The helmet and Andes jacket are still on their way (and Mike made me aware of this before I made the purchase), but everything else is here and was delivered quickly and undamaged by delivery goons. Top notch service, communication and pricing from the best vendor this site has ever seen. Do your part and buy whatever kit you can from these guys. They are amazing to deal with and make the lack of customer service culture seem irrelevant. I can't say enough good things about them. Many thanks!!
  9. Amanda can show you. Edit: I realize this comment might be construed as inappropriate in nature without context. She is in vet tech school and eager to earn her VDM. She is aiming to land a gig taking care of cows and livestock. Kitties and puppies just aren't her bag, baby.
  10. Just cram your arm in there and check yourself.
  11. ....and a quick look at the forecast has me backpedaling on this weekend. I will wait until the last minute to cancel.
  12. There will be more weekends. I drive to Richmond on Thursday and dont come home until the following week. The next weekend is Albuquerque for seven days. Got to get my seat time in before work consumes my summer, again. Yeah.. I was pretty stressed out last year. Hoping to keep this positive 'tude on the pipe for a while. Take it easy, B.
  13. Sunday, May 30!! I am planning on zooming my way to Hickory House, in Weston WV this Saturday. I will leave my house by 7am. I am open to adjust my standard route to accommodate anyone looking to join me. I can stop in Bolivar at 7:30, Cadiz at 9:00 or New Martinsville at 10:00. I will take a sanely-spirited pace there and back and will be shooting for a noon arrival in Weston. This will be a fun ride and the food is pretty tasty. Amanda wants spicy pickles so I am determined to bring some home for dinner. The route will be twisty and the rest stops short and infrequent. I plan to keep the pace below incarcerable speed so if you are concerned about that... don't sweat it. I will not be stopping at any of the aforementioned towns if I do not have confirmation that anybody wants picked up along the way. Don't expect me to be there if you don't chime in and let me know you are coming. However, if you want to zoom around all day on bendy roads and enjoy some tasty vittles... hit me up. https://www.lovehickoryhouse.com/
  14. Same here. I will be in Richmond and Albuquerque, respectively.
  15. I installed a new update on mine this weekend. I believe I can now choose between street and race algorithms. I will double check later.
  16. Remember to be patient with yourself, as well. Frustration and anger are both natural responses and not something to punish yourself over. Mom is going to become a child right in front of you. Just show her love and accept what is. You are stronger than you think you are, Kent. You will make it through this.
  17. I bought new Alpinestars Wake Air jacket and pants from @RidersDiscount. That should do well for the summer and I feel confident the TechAir vest will adequately provide an extra layer of safety in case of a get off or random idiot behind the wheel. I like the vest a lot. Its unobtrusive and simple to use. Plus, I dont have to use it with any specific jackets. It's a stand alone product that can be used inside any jacket that has room for the airbag to deploy. It's no more expensive than a quality helmet. Retail is $700 and after my $26k helicopter ride in April...that's a bargain. Besides, I just up'd the insurance rider that covers my safety gear to replace it if the unfortunate occurs. Everyone riding on the street should consider it. It's a cool piece of kit.
  18. It was a hot one for sure. I ordered new gear but it hasn't arrived yet. I was sporting my BMW Enduroguard pants which are allegedly sewn from whale foreskin and do not breathe at all. I had to wear an old Icon Contra jacket to fit over my new TechAir vest... I was sweating my ass off all day. Still was a great day for a long ride. The GSA blocks so much air that I was overheating at speed. I spent a lot of time standing in the breeze through corners. So hard to hate such a fine bike, but I was close today. Lol
  19. I saw you and Rick at 26/7 this afternoon. I was heading north when you two were stopped at the light near 7th Street.
  20. Amanda called me while I was stopped in B-ville for fuel. A crash happened in the front of the house today involving a motorcycle and a car. She knew it wasn't me but it was enough to trigger a bit of PTSD emotion. She called so she could hear my voice and know I was ok. I am glad I was able to answer the phone. She is a little more emotional than I am at this point, but I worked through some mental hurdles myself. I feel better having put in a solid day of riding. I have been putting off getting on the bike for fear of no longer being able to enjoy myself behind the bars. I put that to bed today and know I can fully put April's crash behind me. I don't know how much time Amanda will need before she is ready to climb back onto the bike, but she's determined to do just that. One day at a time is how we've been getting along up to this point. It will be at least the rest of this season and maybe next before she gives me the green light to start looking for another bike. I'm in no hurry. She can take all the time she needs.
  21. Rode it 360+ miles at a sane-ish pace. Took 76W to Lodi and picked up 83/78/377/550/26/260/800 and 77N to the house. Left the house with a full tank and didn't see my low fuel warning until Barnesville. I did stop in McConnelsville for water and a Snickers. Saw 92 degrees on the dash at one point. Was a warm one but glad to be back in the game. Time for Skyway and ice cream.
  22. Take care of yourself, Kent.
